- UPDATE:
So I took apart the mic and found a tiny wire connecting to the mic head disconnected. I ended up detaching the bottom and checking the connections and taking off the top of the mic which showed the wire. I ended up soldering it back on. If you do take yours apart, be careful since these tiny wires are very thin and can easily snap off creating a need to solder more.

I could use some help diagnosing why this Audio-Technica ATR2100-USB mic suddenly won't connect to my Mac. Running macOS 10.14.
Thanks for sharing. Just sharing the same thing happened to me. Multiple new cables won't work. Bummer.
I ended up having to take it apart and turned out a tiny wire disconnected and I had to solider it back on. It was a bit of a pain to do but got it working again. You have to also be careful taking it apart because you could pull a wire loose.
I had the same problem and changed the cable, it worked
Thanks. I tried two different cables but nothing. Will see if I can find a third.
@@tomn68 I have the same problem! I've tried several cables, no luck. Did you find a solution?
Never found a solution and the manufacturer wasn’t much help.
The included usb cable usb A to usb C is bad. It disconnects. And when connected it with an alternate cable is muted and I cannot unmute it in system preferences. I have to unplug, unmute, plugin and again unmute!
Wow that’s crazy. Mine was a different different problem where I had to rewire a wire that broke off within the mic. Probably due to dropping it. Was a tiny, thin wire and was a pain in the ass to solder.
How did you take the head off? I've noticed mine also got desoldered, which is why my mic no longer works, but i can't get to the tiny wires cause its all the way inside the mic.
Hmmm. This was a long time ago so I don’t actually remember. Maybe start with the bottom but when doing so, gently pull it out because there’s not a lot of slack with the wires and if you pull it too far it will disconnect from the mic head.
Maybe the mic head cover screwed on?
