  • In this video I show how I replaced the wheels on an older TravelPro FlightPro3 roller bag. I almost tossed this out after wheeling this luggage through the airport with half a wheel making a clunk, clunk for my entire trip.
I'll share with you the site I used to buy the perfect set of inline skate wheels that are a perfect fit for this bag and many other TravelPro models.
UPDATE: I think the site where I bought my wheels changed to... crewoutfitters.com/default/pr...

Thanks Tom - my Travelpro FlightPro3 just gave up the wheel-ghost this weekend. I just searched ORO 1 Pair Luggage Wheels Replacement on Amazon, two wheels on the way, On my Travelpro3 the top and bottom screws are actually the same, so interchangeable. I could not measure mine either since the outsides had fallen off, but the 68mm looks like a good fit, so I'm trying that first. Appreciate you taking the time to publish this so I didn't need to figure it out myself!

Your wheel replacement video was the 1st one I found online. Yay. Especially as I needed it now.
The video is still very worthwhile and informative.
One of my wheels recently tore apart. I was going to toss my FlightPro3 and buy a new bag, yet I thought the same.
As my bag is otherwise in good condition. Replacing the wheels is cheaper than purchasing a whole new bag.
Thanks for the video as I will save myself time and money, plus when I get the new wheels, frustration when I install them.
    Take care, Paul

I have a 10 year old TravelPro 24” Platinum 4E suitcase, that has seen many miles. Really like everything about this 2 wheeler, and it’s in good shape in every respect but the wheels began deteriorating. The architecture of the wheel housing is a bit different on my case vs the one in this video, but the concept is similar. I followed the directions here, and it worked perfectly! I bought wheels from Amazon - Gekufa Luggage Replacement Wheels 76mm x 24mm - for $10.99. The wheels come with their own adaptive hardware, but I found they work perfectly as is using the original TravelPro axels, and fit the wheel housings perfectly. Saved a $350 suitcase!

Don't assume that your case's wheels are a particular diameter - measure first. As my original wheels had lost their outer rubbery layer, I couldn't measure them, but it appeared 72mm would be too large. So, I made a cardstock disk as a template and determined that mine are 68mm. Ordered that size, fit perfectly.

    Thank you Tom.
I also have a FlightPro3 an was looking for replacement wheels.
Unfortunately stopoverstore does not send to germany.
So I will order any 72mm wheels and try to install them.

Let me know if they work out for you. I think any that size should work.

This is a very helpful video. Thank you Tom. However, the correct wheel size is 68mm, not 70mm. I confirmed this with Travelpro.

I meant to say, the correct wheel size is 68mm, not 72mm. It's possible that the 72mm will work, but it could rub up against the wheel housing. I just used the 68mm from Stop-Over Store and it is identical to the original wheel in diameter.

Ariel Berschadsky I wonder if it depends on the age of the model because I do remember not being sure which one worked with my model but eventually found reference to wheel size to confirm but I can’t remember where. End result though was that I bought 72s and they were a perfect fit. I do seem to remember that this bag changed at some point. Definitely go with what the manufacturer says for sure.

My bag is Part #8422-01. It does seem that there might be enough space in the wheel well for a 72mm wheel, but Travelpro said 68mm is the correct size for my model. Either way, thanks again for your video. I wouldn't have known how to repair the bag without it.

I have a Walkabout LIte 26" with a broken wheel. Stop-Over Store indicates that all Walkabout series use 72mm wheels. But mine actually uses 60mm ones (P6412W-01). Need to find the replacement elsewhere.

I think these are pretty standard rollerblade wheels. I found these on B&H Photo which are used for a camera roller bag. Probably worth a try. www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1014084-REG/pro_tec_wlsbkpr_replacement_in_line_skate_wheels.html

Hi. This was a long time ago but I think I looked up what wheels came with my specific travelpro roller bag and then measured the wheels diameter (keeping in mind that the wheel was worn down a bit). This site seems to sell different wheel sizes so I would check it out... expertworldtravel.com/suitcase-repair-guide/ but I would also try to google your specific model bag and replacement wheel... (maybe even a spec sheet for the bag to see if it mentions the wheel size).

do you think they wood fit into a ultraglideLX BOWLS BAG

    • @tomn68
      @tomn68  3 роки тому

I don’t really know. It depends o. The size of the existing wheels and if you can actually remove your wheels. I have another bag where the wheels are not removable at all. If you can remove them maybe you can measure the wheels and compare the size to those on the link in the video description. Yours may or may not match rollerblade wheel sizes.

I bought them at stopoverstore.com but I don’t think they’re in business bu my I think they might have changed their name to...crewoutfitters.com/default/products/replacement-parts.html
I see wheels here that look like the ones I bought.
