I cut a tiny water rudder out of the plastic cover on the AR620 package for mine. Just wedge it in the rear wheel coil. No glues. No screws. No probs. Steers like a champ.
Had to tape over my servo covers and most of the cooling holes in the fuse, too. Water will chatter the heck out of those HH linear servos.
Good times 👍
One of the club members at my local flying field recommended to smear Gorilla Glue on the bottom of the pontoons. Just apply by (gloved) finger or brush and when it dries it provides a nice smooth surface that protects your pontoons and water will just roll right off. I did it to the floats on my UMX Turbo Timber and Twin Otter and felt like it was well worth the little bit of time spent.
Thanks Mark! I will probably do that.
I've read a comment on the Saylors channel about a spray too, but sounds like the Gorilla glue would work better - a hard layer - expecially if the pond has a rock/concrete rim at the shore.
Minwax
I flew my old red UMX Turbo Timber off of a pond earlier this summer. It was lots of fun, but the wind caught a wingtip and it flipped over, frying the ailerons. I had to order a new wing with servos ($65), but it works again! My replacement TT Evo will stay high and dry, but the red one will see the pond again!
Nice! I'm glad it is fixed.
👍
I've never flown off of water but have had hours of fun with my UMX TT flying off of snow using those same floats.
If you're going to use those floats on snow then putting a strip of tape down them is a good idea. Non powdery snow can be a bit abrasive if ice crystals make up some of the snow's consistency.
Thanks Bill! I will try to remember. I do want to try that.
Dad used to use a fishing pole to retrieve stuff.
Great video! I have always loved the water. The fountain is awesome with the plane flying around it.
I liked it too! Thanks 😀🛩💯
Fun Water Flight GG!! I was worried when the throttle wasn't reacting.
Thanks Dave! The real test will be when I try it again after it dries out. It was acting up again after the video. 🙏🛩💯
nice...next up floats on snow in the winter
Yep for sure! But I can wait. Not ready for the warmth to leave quite yet. 😅🛩💯
Me heart stop at 1:35 man, don't do that. 🤣
Wrong switch! 🤣🛩💯
That little plane is all over the place.
Good job Gary 👍✈️
Landing was interesting, the water seemed to stop the plane quickly as vs a runway. Pretty cool stuff. Love the Atari hat. LOL! Reminds me of my first cartrage Asteroids,,,teo, teo, teo!
Yeah, if I would use a little longer approach with throttle it probably would look more natural. I was trying very short approach with no throttle. 😅🛩💯
My favorite hat!
Thanks have fun Grandpa Gary
Thanks David! Always 😀🛩💯
Flying off glare ice, be ready for the wind to take plane to other end of the ice.
Well done, looks like you had fun Gary, Jeff in LA USA
😀🛩👍 Always having fun.
Hey GG.Did you struggle with those 4 screws in the top. Just tried installing mine on the new umx turbo evolution timber and they are impossible. probly got to use vicegrips.
Just got a better driver. That helped.
great video
I don't remember having trouble.
Make sure your Throttle Cut is set to -100 NOT the normal -130.
That was a nice view, the reflection on the water and with the fountain gave just a nice ripple effect. How different is flying with floats? I have some for my Sport Cub - thought it would be something different - but haven't had a chance to test them out yet.
Didn't seem too different until the plane was too wet. 😅🛩👍
Speaking of electronic cut outs, my DX-9 goes zany in 95-degree heat, should I not fly in the hot Texas sun?
That is weird! Not really heard that from anyone else. Might need to contact Horizon. 🤔
@@IJustGotHere Ok, thanks, I bought it from Roys Toys, they closed up shop, so Ill call up Horizon. It works fine in mild weather but hot it acts a touch funny. Thanx AJGH.🤠
Hello 👋.
👋 hi
Ouch! Yours flies about as bad as mine on floats. When you started, the plane sat level on floats. At 4:25 the tailwheel is submerged! Same problem here. It becomes tail heavy in flight off water.
Maybe Horizon needed to design floats for the UMX TX instead of recycling 12 year old UMX Carbon Cub floats?
I fly off the lake all the time. There's not a field withing 30 minutes. This UMX is back on wheels, hanging on the wall and collecting dust. Too many great float planes to waste time with this turd.
I agree, this plane is much better on land than sea. 😀👍
Sorry I cannot donate, or be a Patreon of the channel, so I feel as if
I should not be watching. I tried being a part of live chat, but unless you have a wrench
by your name you will be ignored. Best of luck to you.
Donating is just bonus. Watching the videos is the biggest support! I appreciate you Adrion. Sorry I haven't done a live video in a while now. 😀🛩👍
I find if I can't, I always purchase something using their link (when they have one) support somehow I figure.
@@lylekehrer6159 that is awesome!
