Hi Marie and Living Felt! I love your teaching style and the videos you provide that include wet felting and all types of needle felting. You've inspired me to get a Cobweb Scarf kit and try my luck. Thank you Jan
Loved this very helpful video. Great to learn different and more helpful approaches. I want to add that it's hard to mess up projects like this! Especially if one is willing to think outside the box. One scarf ended up looking much better as a table runner so now I have a beautiful table runner. Thanks for your video.
It is truly our pleasure, Anne! Wishing you lots of fun with your felt journey also! Join our fb group for a really great community at all levels : www.fb.com/groups/livingfeltfriends
I LOVE your craft room! Lol it’s the one I want in my dreams ❤️ anyway thanks for sharing your craft with us. I’m a crochet person but will do this for sure!
Marie - I having been watching all your videos, and I am so excited to start felting in a Nuno Wet Felting class in Novato, CA. Thank you for all your tutorials, which are giving me so much information and techniques to use. Thanks again
Hello Pat and thank you for your nice note! Thank you for ordering with us across the pond! We always send an order confirmation and shipping confirmation -- watch for the first once you complete payment, and you will also now get our weekly newsletter. Please join us in our group: www.fb.com/groups/livingfeltfriends LOTS of lovely folks there to encourage and inspire you :)
If the students understand the actual felting process then all the activities of rubbing and soaping makes sense. I mean that info about how the fibres are altered by wetting and agitation. The nature of protein fibres to heat, wettness, and agitation is the most important info, then all the techniques of rolling, rubbing, hot water, etc. actually activate that process.
Thank you for watching. We do not cover "what is felt" or the science of felt making in every video because a lot of our friends felt with us every week on our live show, and also this video is about "how to felt a ____ (thing)" vs. being an introduction/first video about the felt making process. With the number of videos we make...covering that information in every video that would get a bit redundant. So jump in where ever you are in your experience of felt making, and most of all, we hope you HAVE FUN learning and exploring the wonders of felting.
if not buying your kit is there a way to make sure the wool im buying will be in a length long enough for the base? and is there a way to make our own blends in such a long length at home, all the blending tutorials i see are for smaller quantities of wool, or does such a quantity need different equipment than most hobbiests would have
That would be awesome! Come on down :) We are moving this summer...we still have openings is our fall classes...the teachers are world renowned ... you should come! feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Wet-Felting-Workshops_c_35.html
Hi Jeannine -- thank you for this question. At this time, the exact fibers for each scarf kit are not shown at this time, however you will see the silk blends we use in the pull down menu and then you can see those on this page: feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Merino-Silk-Blends_c_13.html
Well made felt is incredbly strong, but durability will vary based on fiber used. Even rugs can be felted from wool. Consider Yurts made by nomadic peoples, winter coats, hats and valenki made for Russian winters. A large blanket is a very large undertaking, the feltmaker must know their materials, including the shrinkage rate. There are a few ways you could go about it...we suggest starting with small samples = pot holders, placemats and table runners. It will help you consider the materials, tools, time and space required for such a large undertaking. It will help you learn how to felt and allow you to evauluate the durability of your felt. A blanket must be well felted or it will pill and wear badly. You must also consider Care...how will you wash it? It can only be soaked/ rinsed and spun out...not put in wash or dry cycles unless you are prepared for further shrinkage..and sometimes poor results if the felt shrinks unevenly.
Thank you so much for these helpful tutorials! I'm a beginner and I've noticed that my wet felting projects come out "fuzzy/hairy". Is this because of the type of wool roving or maybe due to the high pressure I'm putting on the fibers? I have been wet felting small projects with a spray bottle, olive soap, small bubble wrap and a bamboo mat. I tend to roll roughly/hard overall. Any suggestions are highly appreciated and thanks again!
Hi helend222, we thought we replied to this.... thanks for the suggestion. It is in the bottom right corner...get into the video a few minutes and it will be there :)
Hi Karen, for this project, we use approximately 1.5oz of the base fiber. You can make one and then weigh it...then decide to make it wider, longer, shorter etc. and adjust amount of fiber accordingly. With yarns and embellishments, we have no measure, just play with it and have fun!
This is a special layout method for this particular project = a cobweb effect, to create the thin, holey layout, and to take advantage of the long color stripes in the wool. If we shingled, we would lose that distinction.

Just making sure..all fibres go same direction? Thanks!
Thank you. I have tried searching for the live version unable to find it. Could you share the link Thank you
Saw a video where bubble wrap was put down then tulle wool then more tulle. Why would you need tulle under wool and over both? Thank you
I'd like to order a kit and make this. I need a kit, because I don't have any of my own yarn, or stash. Will it turn out OK with just the kit?
I'm glad you dont have the music..lol...do you buy this roving like this
It comes from the mill like this, and we sell it like this ... here feltingsupplies.livingfelt.com/Merino-Silk-Blends_c_13.html

I really love this video!!
I understand the process now you explained it very well and your fun personality! !!💜
@@jwatley313 :) Thank you! xoxox
What does the bubble wrap help with? I see the bubbles are touching the felt, why?
The bubbles help with the agitation, in a very gentle way :)
Do you have photos of all the color choices that are listed? I’d love to buy a kit.
Oh I found the color choices!

Hello how strong is wet felting.. can you make like a queen sided blanket with this method

Awesome!! We are so happy to hear it :) Thank you for leaving your feedback!
If it was a brown or green colour it would look so much like real seaweed. Beautiful.
I made somethiing very similar to what you are describing once for a large wall hanging...meant to emulate kelp :)
Gorgeous... now I need to make one as well
Oh we hope you do, Sharon! We have loved seeing all the scarves that came from this tutorial, and hope you will share a photo of yours! :)
What would we use if we don’t have a spin dryer?
You can spin out in your washer, or just roll it up and squeeze out the water :)
Can you add a subscribe button please. Not visible here in Australia. Loved the cobweb scarf video. Excellent explanation of the process. Thank you.
Hi helend222, we thought we replied to this.... thanks for the suggestion. It is in the bottom right corner...get into the video a few minutes and it will be there :)
I put it in a zippered mesh laundry bag or pillow case then include it in with laundry, both washing machine and dryer.
I love that!!
How do you know how much wool and yarns to use?
Hi Karen, for this project, we use approximately 1.5oz of the base fiber. You can make one and then weigh it...then decide to make it wider, longer, shorter etc. and adjust amount of fiber accordingly. With yarns and embellishments, we have no measure, just play with it and have fun!
This was great, Thanks
