This is so lovely! Thank you for sharing 💛
Do you find you need to replace your needles after a certain amount of time?
Yes, it's hard to say exactly when but I notice they get dull and don't get the ink in as easily.
So working with leather, are you using the same hand speed as something like fake skin? can you still use shading techniques like whip shading and stippling. I would imagine there would be a bit of bounce back. awesome work... I might try this on my nest knife sheath
Not the same hand speed as fake skin, you don't want to go very deep, it's very superficial, just gliding along the surface using lower voltages. You have to go slower and sort of brush back and forth for shading. I use the 3 round liner to whip shade. Leather is well suited for stippling. Mags don't work. There is definitely bounce back, you don't need a hard hit to get it in though, so a shorter stroke length is recommended. Thanks for watching :)
How to know your watching an artist or creative persons video. Safety/health is an after thought and not the first thing you think ofXD.
Siriously it turned out so freakin pretty:o :D!
Thank you, and yeah I wasn’t really worried about cross contaminating the leather🤣
O no that i get:) i just know that alot of the solutions and finishes that are used have some nasty ingredients so that's why:). I just got a very interesting course on glue safety at work so my brain is thinking about it alot so that's why:).
@@lugaruna good to know, thank you!
Beautiful
Thank you!
I have a question.. with the coat that's been rubbed onto it in the beginning does it help make it easier to tattoo on? Very curious cause I want to try it out
It makes it easier to wipe the excess ink from the surface as you are tattooing it.
@@FloatyTattoo Oh okay! Now I see thank you! 😊
I plan on doing a belt. do you think soaking the leather beforehand may help the leather take the ink?
I would not recommend soaking the leather before hand, you want a fairly stiff surface for the needle to hit, if it is too soft the ink spreads. If you need to soak the leather for your process I would do it after tattooing and sealing with a top coat.
will the paint get faded away ? can this be done to a leather shoes and still wear it in a day today basis?
It will not fade away as it is inside the leather not just on top. I have not tried this with shoes but I would guess that it should hold up quite well with wear over time, much better than anything you paint on the surface.
Did you use green soap to wipe?
Green soap and a magic eraser.
Have you found any way to wash off the leftover purple from the stencil transfer?
You can try bleach wipes and lightly dab it.
How did you transfer the image?
I used a tattoo stencil and a Stencil Stuff
Is it difficult to dye the leather after you have applied the top coat and tattooed it?
I haven’t tried but I would think so.
Would mink oil work in place of top coat?
I’m not sure, possibly if you let it dry a bit. If you have some, do a test on a small piece and let me know how it comes out.
Have you tried using acrylic resolene in place of the top coat? I would imagine it would be a good resist against the ink.
I have not, I’ll have to give it a try, thanks for the suggestion!
@@FloatyTattoo I was thinking that resolene or even something like frisket masking film might work well. What kind of tattoo gun do you use? I’ve been wanting to have a go at tattooing leather for a while but I don’t know the first thing about tattooing.
Thanks again for the suggestions, I am doing another leather project soon, I will try out these prodcuts. I currenly am using the Dragonhawk Fold Pro 2024 as my main machine.
@@FloatyTattoo I’ve just noticed your reply, thanks for the info.
Do u use leather dye or ink ?
Tattoo ink, in this one I am using Dynamic Black
Hello i tried tattooing on veg tan also but the ink is smudging and it becomes dirty? I can't wipe the ink
How do you tattoo and still have clean finish?
I wipe using a magic eraser dipped in a bit of warm water throughout the process
Also you need to put a layer or two of clear top coat on before working on it
Hii very nice job glad to you 👏👏 u use vaseline 🤔 like real skin tattooing
Yes 😊
@@FloatyTattoo thanks for answer 🤗
hey, is this fake leather feeling like a rubber in a way?
