I appreciate learning from your perspective as I greatly identify with your story. I took dance classes for two years in high school and then stopped to focus on the HSC then uni. I finally reconnected with my love for dance at the age of 26. Similar to you, I dedicated the first Sydney lockdown to dance training five days a week. It’s very easy to become discouraged taking dance seriously as an adult compared to others who have been dancing almost their entire lives. Your story gives me hope. May I please ask what motivates you to commit to dance training at this age? Are you aiming to have a professional dance career. Also, is having a lack of classical training such as ballet or a tertiary course a disadvantage? Many thanks for all the advice and tips you share. Sending you many blessings to allow your dreams to come true 🙏🏼💫💛
Hey Juliana! Sorry for the late reply - I'm so glad you learnt a thing or two from this video... to be honest I didn't really think many people would watch! But look at YOU GO! 👏👏👏 I'm so glad you reconnected with dance, and having two years under your belt will definitely help you pick up dance again so much easily. Thank you for sharing your story, and so so happy that you feel hopeful after hearing my journey! Personally, I would LOVE to make this strong passion of mine into a professional career. And it definitely is one of my main motivators as to why I keep dancing. But I think what really motivates me is knowing that through hard work and growth, I can inspire younger and older people to dance, no matter what age or stage of dancing you're in. I wanted to delve more into a teacher role for this reason, but I would love to get some industry experience at some point in my life as well, then thereafter teach. I definitely think having no training in any sort of dancing is a disadvantage - but in particular classical training, you do miss out on specific technique that could aid in certain movements, but it's certainly not the end all. So much love for you! x
this is sooo good, vi. so glad to see you making this and documenting your procress. can't wait to get back in the studio and keep kicking goals with you!
Great tips thank you Vinessa!
You’re so dedicated and focused is inspiring!
