Hallo friends! My name is Vinessa ('Vi') and I've been dancing for around 2+ years now. I want to inspire and grow WITH YOU ALL as much as I can, so this channel is dedicated to creating videos about starting out as an ABSOLUTE beginner + showing you all concept videos and FUTURE choreography that I will soon start posting. I am in no way, shape, or form, a professional dancer. But I'm aiming to be!

WELCOME “ 1️⃣6️⃣ “
16 dancers.

my first ever video project had to be a statement. call it imposter syndrome or whatever it is. I KNOW I’m not the most talented in the room, the most ‘trained’ or skilled and knowledgeable teacher or choreographer. But this project is ME
“16” represents DRIVE. “16” represents WARRIOR MENTALITY. “16” is a statement that whatever the circumstance, or whatever people say or think, it’s our turn. our turn to show the world the things we CAN be and ARE capable of. without fear. without doubt.
for the longest time, I never knew I could l choreograph or lead a group of people under my direction. I was nervous as shit. but here I am, with 16 incredible dancers… bringing my choreography and project into fruition 😭❤️🔥 thank you “16” family. from the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting my creative direction. i am so eternally grateful for you all for allowing me to bring you into my project. with each and every single one of you involved, we all share a unique relationship and i'm just so happy you all are apart of this journey with me. you all made me realise I want to keep doing this forever. that shit makes me emotional 🥲🥹
big shout out to Benjamin Posa for assisting in helping make the vision come to life, and Daryl Morante for being the mentor I needed to help guide me in the right direction (and also being the videographer for the shoot)! Immense love for you both. ❤️🔥
AND TO 16. YOU ALL ARE JUST ONE OF A KIND.
moral of the project: don’t ever come into a car park with us. might just get jumped 🤪

6 Month Hip Hop Dance Progress | Absolute Beginner To NOW!
Wow girl! I just watched your first ever video to now this one. You killed it! Truly inspiring!
Thank you so so much! This means a lot to me!!!
Definitely more confident after six months. Nice vid.
Great tips thank you Vinessa! You’re so dedicated and focused is inspiring!
This really inspires me. Im starting my first ever hip hop private dance class tomorrow. Im 14 turning 15 in 3 days and Im hoping to be a professional hip hop dancer. But I dont know if its too late, are there any tips and what I should expect? 😅
Amazing!! Can I ask how old are you? ❤🎉
I'm 27 now!
I need some words of encouragement. I used to love to dance. There are videos of me just dancing as early as 7 years old. Never formally trained tho. And I think because I was dancing so much...just at parties and for fun at home, I definitely have rhythm. As I got older I completely stopped. Now I'm 37 and I've been dying to go take a dance class but I'm so scared that I can't keep up or make a fool of myself and completely hate dancing for good. What was your first dance class like? How was the teacher? What made you feel comfortable?
I want to learn it by myself but I don’t know how please I need your help girll ❤❤
Hey honey! Wanna chat on IG and I can help you out? @vi.ne.ssa !
Holy Sh*T!!! I just watched your video from many years ago from your first time dancing to 6 months. To watch you now is incredible! Also this is one of my fave Meghan songs =)
Omg this gave me so much goosebumps and I’m crying. Thank you so much 😭💖 SUch a good Meghan song right!!!!!!!
Wow! This gives me such confidence!

I am a complete beginner, and never dance in my life . I really want to learn …. Will you give me some suggestions, because i fell really embarrassed, even when i dance alone 🥲 . Really appreciate if you will help me .
yassss girl!you are an inspiration

Y make me cry a lot
because that's how much i loveee youuuuuuuuuuu hehehe
This song is so fun!
It's so hype!!!
heyo,,can u make beginner dance tutorial ,,it would be really helpful!!
Hi Kiran!!!! I would love to. When I come back from the US, I'll do this for you!
I love watching other people dance journey😁 for me it's been 9 months so far
You have potential! Good luck and try to practice other type of dance because it's fun, like me I started with ballet when i was young but now i just do what ever style I want currently deciding if i wanna start learning waacking or not
Thank you!! I'm definitely picking up other styles of dance since I posted this video. I can highly recommend waacking, it's so fun! Right now I'm mainly focusing on House, Lite Feet and Heels, and just touched on Contemporary. :)
I appreciate learning from your perspective as I greatly identify with your story. I took dance classes for two years in high school and then stopped to focus on the HSC then uni. I finally reconnected with my love for dance at the age of 26. Similar to you, I dedicated the first Sydney lockdown to dance training five days a week. It’s very easy to become discouraged taking dance seriously as an adult compared to others who have been dancing almost their entire lives. Your story gives me hope. May I please ask what motivates you to commit to dance training at this age? Are you aiming to have a professional dance career. Also, is having a lack of classical training such as ballet or a tertiary course a disadvantage? Many thanks for all the advice and tips you share. Sending you many blessings to allow your dreams to come true 🙏🏼💫💛
Hey Juliana! Sorry for the late reply - I'm so glad you learnt a thing or two from this video... to be honest I didn't really think many people would watch! But look at YOU GO! 👏👏👏 I'm so glad you reconnected with dance, and having two years under your belt will definitely help you pick up dance again so much easily. Thank you for sharing your story, and so so happy that you feel hopeful after hearing my journey! Personally, I would LOVE to make this strong passion of mine into a professional career. And it definitely is one of my main motivators as to why I keep dancing. But I think what really motivates me is knowing that through hard work and growth, I can inspire younger and older people to dance, no matter what age or stage of dancing you're in. I wanted to delve more into a teacher role for this reason, but I would love to get some industry experience at some point in my life as well, then thereafter teach. I definitely think having no training in any sort of dancing is a disadvantage - but in particular classical training, you do miss out on specific technique that could aid in certain movements, but it's certainly not the end all. So much love for you! x
I have no idea where to start
Hey!!! Maybe start with some TikTok trending dances to get yourself to start. There are some slowed down tutorials on the platform that will help you start! Otherwise, STEEZY is a great online platform to do at your own pace, and check around your local area for studios that offer beginner classes! You got this!
@@itsmissvi thank you❤️
Oh it is so noticeable! This is just one year and you are doing great! I specially like the confidence!
Thank you so so so much. ♥️♥️♥️
You improved so much! and I can see confidence in your dancing! keep up the good work I'm rooting for you!
Thank you so so so much. I needed this today! ♥️♥️♥️
I can’t believe that first video was your first time. You were already so good at the start
Awww thank you for your kind words!! I guess my experience dancing in clubs paid off somehow! 😅
@@itsmissvi I think it definitely did. You seem like a natural in this video
Please keep posting regularly!
Ahhhhh!!! Thank you so much!!! Would love to know what type of content you wanna see! ♥️♥️
At the end, I must say it is not the most powerful, well-executed dance, but the improvements are clearly seen.
100% agree! The end result is definitely supposed to be an improved version of when I first took the class.
this is sooo good, vi. so glad to see you making this and documenting your procress. can't wait to get back in the studio and keep kicking goals with you!
AWWWW DOUG!!! 🥰🥰 I can’t wait to dance side by side with you again!!! Thank you so much for the lovely words 🥲🥲

This inspires me to start my dancing journey again!! I have been to dance classes in the past but always felt embarrassed being there. I understood that the more I practice the better I would get, but every time I was a little off-beat or didn't do the moves properly, I just hated every second of it but this vid inspired me to keep going!! ♥
I feel you on SO many levels! I understand how you feel, and trust me, I didn't go to as much classes after my first ever class because I was so discouraged! But we have to keep reminding ourselves that progress requires patience, and I'm so happy that my progress has inspired you to keep going ♥ I believe in you!!! Thank you so much for your kind words. This really made my day.
This comment irritates me but in a good way. Gurl if your off-beat on-beat 🎶 etc it doesn't matter just dance its not that serious, and remember have fun while dancing! Peace
@@minimalistdanse agreed! It’s all about having fun 🤩
Trust me!!! I understand that feeling and been there. BUT dance has helped me so much with that, mental strength. Staying positive and just pushing through!!! It’s class, it’s rehearsal it’s where you are supposed to mess up, fall, hit yourself. As long as you get the result for performance based. But other than that who cares! Treat it all as serious training and you’ll see results in time and I bet you won’t be going anywhere lol!
Hey Yaa u r rly a good dancer I love it.. 😊
Awwwwww thank you so much. This means so much to me 🥰
@@itsmissvi aww. Okay. Will you help me 😊you a good dance please help me how to do choreography.
Taehyung be like- Wait what- I only knew I was "V"
Hahahaha!
Good job 🙂👏👏👏 I do ballet professionally and im trying to pick up hiphop. Its almost better to have ZERO dance experience when you try to learn because you have no ingrained habits to unlearn 🤷♂️🤷♂️ my ballet training gets in the way in hiphop
That's so interesting!! What do you find is difficult about learning Hip Hop with a Ballet background? Thank you so much for the kind words!! 🥰🥰🥰
I’m sorry the beginning is embarrassing when u start to dance lol
Hahahaha it is, isn't it! 😅😅
@@itsmissvi I prejudged before I saw it but I saw the full beginning it wasn’t that bad I’m just barely starting too lol
Hey, you did so good
Thank you so much! I'm trying my best! haha

@@itsmissvi nice progress ngl , ur good !!
You really improved a lot in just one year 😮 keep going <3 Can I ask you: how often did you practice to get to see this results?
Awwwww thank you so much! I'm glad my hard work pays off :') I practised quite a lot. I was doing classes in studios while practising at home the routines I was learning that day. I was going to class almost 8 times a week and always trying to seek feedback from my teachers, that's the most important thing! Always try and get yourself out of comfort zones - that's where you'll grow.
you made big progress in your Journey. Glad to ses ta you didn't give up. Me i started my Journey as a dancer 8 months ago i saw a big change sooo happy. Hope i will become professional one day
Hey Tyra! Awww, thank you so much for leaving this lovely comment. This means so much to me, you don't understand! It's crazy how much 8 months/a year can make huh? I never really notice a difference until I reflect back. Here's to never giving up! 💪💪💪💪

Any tips for people that have no access to dance classes😭
Hi Sophia! Oh my goodness, I have SO many tips! You actually inspired me to make another video on this topic in particular. But for now, here are some tips without access to any dance classes! 1) UA-cam!!! UA-cam is your BESTFRIEND! There will be definitely tutorials available on UA-cam for certain moves, grooves or actually routines you want to learn! If you want to actually learn a dance routine that you really like and there's no tutorial, I would suggest trying to slow down the original video at perhaps -50% and then slowly working your way to normal speed and learning the dance. It won't be mirrored, so you'll have to download a mirroring plug-in on your browser! This is actually how a lot of people learn music video routines etc :) 2) STEEZY! Check these guys out. They will release free tutorials every now and then that you can learn online! I use these guys quite regularly - and it's awesome because they come straight from the US and are pioneers at what they do! 3) INSTAGRAM! Regularly check any choreographers/dancers Instagram pages for free tutorials. Sometimes you'll find that your favourite choreographer and/or professional dancer has released an IGTV of their dance choreography! (Eg. Sean Bankhead has a saved IGTV from he went live with his ''Wild Side'' choreography by Normani ft. Cardi B. This is AWESOME because we rarely ever get these type of tutorials) You'll also find that dancers all over the world, depending on their COVID situation, release online tutorials (usually $10-$15 which is WAY cheaper than an average dance class) of moves and grooves training and/or dance choreography tutorials. Hope this helps!!! Stay tuned for my upcoming video, I'll go more in depth with the above! Let me know if you have any other questions, happy to answer them for you :)
Your dance good... but don't call it hip hop unless you got the bounce, rock feeling!
Thank you for the feedback. 😊
