Abbey the “fragrance free” preference for one reason or another is that yes there are different reasons for different people. But for me and some others with sensitive skin the reason is literally because the fragrance gives us a mild chemical burn. I get that you like a good smell, but it’s not that we don’t like it, we wish we could use a fragranced product, it’s because it irritates our skin.
I get this. I have sensitive skin as well and some ingredients used in fragrances are just awful for causing reactions. I still prefer fragrance for the most part because I can tell which ones will react with my skin by the way the smell. Very strong and floral scents or anything that itches my eyes/nose. I just don't like the way unscented ones smell unless they are TRULY unscented but most of them still have a smell that isn't great. Once you know your skin you can just check the ingredients. For me I avoid lavender/rose scented even though I like the smell because I know it will burn my eyes a bit and definitely will make me itchy
a fragrance free hand cream is perfect for people with sensitive skin (like me 😅) or with eczema and so on! because added fragrance can trigger rashes, redness, allergies etc so yeah i love a good smell but my hands don't!

Yeah same! Gloves in a Bottle are a nearly identical formula to the Hand Wrap but fragranced. I had to return it because the fragrance burned my hands like fire. Prequel’s Hand Wrap forever lives by my sink though. ❤
It makes me so happy when you post!! I just opened and used the Shiseido Tsubaki Premium Shampoo and Conditioner. My hair feels soft with no tangles and my scalp feels clean, but not dry. I have been loving the Saltair serum deodorant! Like you, I have always preferred “regular” deodorant to “natural” ones, but this is the first natural one that actually holds up for me! If I’m doing extra heavy workouts I still use regular, but for lighter activity days this is great! Thanks for another great video! ❤

I obsessed with the Saltair deodorants too. When I used them as a step one before deodorant, it was a total game changer. And they help with razor burn on my underarms too!!
Great video! I’m a big fan of drugstore skincare (and legitimately every single other price-point, I’m obsessed)-especially Byoma, & Naturium (Prequel too). So I’m always excited to see a new video featuring them! I was 110% sure I was going to be picking up Byoma’s new lip products, but now I’m definitelyyy going to pass. I would have ended up returning them for sure, & I cannot *stand* wasting products. I’m a total thick/cushiony lip-care girly like you.

Fragrance free face and body care is a must for me. I wasnt always like this, I used to wear perfume and scented lotions from Bath and Body works. Now i am so sensitive to all scents. I dont have a slin reaction but i get nauseous and just cant stand the smell. The worst recent offender have been Sol De Janeiro body oil sample I got from Sephora. That stuff didnt even wash off my arms and didn't come of clothing with the first wash. And the second one was Amika frizz treatment. I washed my hair 3 times and it still smelled like it. It was horrible. When the scent doesnt come off it makes you wonder what they are using.
I love the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Oil! I also use it as a gloss over a lipstick or lip gloss.
Thank you so much for always giving us multiple descriptions of products -- it helps so much to see the texture of things but also hear about things like fragrance and how things dry down. I didn't know Byoma had body lotions now and am excited to try them. p.s. Thanks also for talking about lathering shampoo first before applying to your hair; a lot of products I use for hair and body have gel textures and sometimes they are so slippery it's like they don't even want to stick to stuff until they've been churned a little lol.

Isosorbide Dicaprylate (smart lipophilic skin hydrator) is in the prequel utility balm
I really love most of the Prequel line. The skin utility balm and gel have made it so I can finally tolerate my tretinoin every night. I do not think the gel has a fragrance. It does smell like skincare ingredients and I appreciate companies not putting a bunch of fragrance in their skincare to cover up the fragrance of the actual active ingredients. Their hand shield cream was okay but I wasn’t a game changer like many of their other products. Their urea moisturizing milk really hydrates my skin like no other I like fragrance free body lotion because then I don’t have to worry if my perfume I chose for the day will clash with the body lotion smell. Thank you so much for doing these quick drugstore reviews.
The Naked Sundays Cabana Glow (part of their new launch) broke me out like nothing else in a very long time, proper mountains on my face. Breaks my heart, it’s so gorgeous 🙃
Hi Abbey, Random find in place of NYX primer; BIORE Aqua rich Weightless spf 30 moisturizer(also comes in spf 50 online); the packaging %100 got me, the back info is great. Says it is for 12-17 yr olds. Has Hyaluronic acid AND good under makeup. I really enjoy this. I use it when I have serums on in the AM ( Vit C) that class with my other moisturizers.

Lol Abby is actually the “face” of Prequel skincare in my head 😂 I’m quite face blind but, in time, certain faces get locked down. Then they accidentally get subbed in for other people with similar features. I realized the other day that Dr Ellis has a whole different face, but it’s too late now. Abby’s face has gotten attached to like 4-5 different online people 😂😂😂 I guess that’s a good sign for her engagement lol!
Also every time a box comes (I’m terrified it’s going to trend so hard that I can’t get my faves so I stockpiled a tiny bit, just 2 of each), I picture Abby and say “thank you doctor!!!”

Definitely will check out the Prequel balms. Prequel seems cruelty-free, and La Roche Posay is not, so never tried anything like the Cicaplast.

I have dry skin and am always getting different types of body lotion and oil so I may try the Byoma body care. I live in the deep South so deodorant/anti-perspirant is essential. I might try the Saltair serum products under my anti-perspirant. They look interesting. Another great video.
A similar thing happened to me in my late 20s with Degree deodorant/antiperspirant....it stopped working! First time with sweaty pits and the last. I use Dove all day sweat and odor protection in the original clean scent. It's inexpensive yet highly effective!!!!
Thanks for doing all these videos, Abbey. I'm 56 and my hair used to be thick, but is thinning now, especially in the front. I've been using the Bond Repair line from Loreal, thanks to you, and it's helped to slow the thinning. I do have a question for you, though. I just opened a new conditioner bottle and noticed the smell was less pleasant (almost waxy is the best way I can describe it). I thought maybe it was just my nose, or it was a glitch in that one bottle, but the other unopened bottle I have smells the same and neither smell as good as the shampoo. Is it my imagination or did Loreal cheap out on the scent of the Bond Repair Conditioner?
I'm totally with you on the NYX Blur Screen sunscreen. I was thrilled to find it - yay! Cut two steps down to one! But no, this felt so incredibly thick & awful. Halfway through my day my foundation looked like I absolutely caked it on! That was a once & done product. I, too, need to find someone with skin that can handle that mess.
And thank you for describing fragrances! I'm one that cannot tolerate rose-scented products, I physically get ill. I was going to try your favorite Purology detangling mist but when I read it smelled like roses, nope, deleted that from my cart immediately! Now the Unite 7 second detangling spray is my go-to. Love your videos, Abbey! You rock!!

@@shandel499 I did a search on your exact verbiage and the only thing I get is a product that I just tried for the first time yesterday - and hated! It stayed sticky on my skin for hours, I needed to apply a ton of powder to mattify it, my hair was sticking to my face. Horrible. But I understand it works well for so many others. I need MATTE!
I seriously don’t know one friend or family member who likes the rose scent so I don’t understand why beauty products are still infused so frequently with it.
If it’s real rose it’s because it’s known to be the most gentle on the skin compared to other EO

I am also a traditional antiperspirant/deodorant girlie and have tried many variations over the years. The one that has worked better than all the others is Hex by Merle Norman for $9.00. It is fantastic as there is never wetness, smell, spots/streaks on clothing, or irritation after shaving. I really like the packaging as it is minimalistic mid-century with a frosted component so you can tell when you are running low. Hex has a pleasant, light smell that dissipates once you apply it. I am going to try layering Pink Beach underneath!!

Intrigued to try Saltair roll-on. I use their regular deo and body washes and love the scents. For lotions, have you tried EOS 24H Moisture Vanilla Cashmere? Super nourishing and smells yummy 🧁

Prequel ❤❤❤ Skin utility gel (glycerin based) incredible for dry climates, esp heading into dust storm & fire season weather. Plays nicely under/over makeup (my skin is ultra dehydrated tho so it can absorb a lot). The dimethicone-intense balm is similar to anti chafing gel but heals faster and actually gets some hydration in. I use the prequel balm under my bust and in sensitive areas, and as a primer when I really need an invisible occlusive that is heavier than the gel. When you can see particulate in the air during fire season, try to sneak in an occlusive! None of the challenges to summer fire season (does any other continent have this?) will be resolved soon & all yall in California & all us in the West gotta incorporate fire damage prevention into our skincare. Even if you can’t see particulate or the smoke, if there are active fires in your region, occlusive up!

Hi Abbey, I am wondering what you think of using The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% on the scalp before washing. It was recommended but I wanted to ask you your opinion.
I was excited to see my local drugstore started caring Natrium yesterday....until, I saw the prices. The retional bodywash was $40. Everything was so expensive.

Its definitely the Canada vs US thing. I live in California, where usually everything is maxed out price wise, and Naturium is less than $20 for the body washes.

I went from degree to Mitchum, the shea moisture deodorant smells amazing but does absolutely nothing for sweat and odor. Mitchum comes in serious clutch I love it I prefer pure fresh over powder fresh. I’m going to see about saltair however.

I wise Naturium has scented body washes too! I love how well they work, but I miss having scents!
I actually use my Cetaphil Gentle Clear BPO Acne Cleanser under my arms (I leave it on for a 1-3 minutes) in the shower. My deodorant works better/lasts longer after I do this. :) I also use it on my face and my upper back/chest after I've rinsed out my conditioner.

A huge pet peeve of mine is sunscreen reviews without telling us if the sunscreens are water resistant or not. They are not always easy to find on the website. For those of us who live in climates or go outside… And it’s that’s an important thing to know in determining if we are interested in the sunscreen. It would be nice if your review was complete and included that

I wanted to get the Byoma lip oil and I accidentally bought the PH one 🙃 I don't like the fuschia color of all the PH stuff but the formula is so nice for me that I'm going to keep using it, and pick up the regular one after I use it up 😂

I really wish the Byoma lip products were more of a vanilla scent. I really like them, but I'm not a fan of the flavor. But the ingredients are so nice!
This is not a critique of your choice to prefer fragrance in body wash - you do you. I do find it strange that there is growing understanding of fragrance (artificial or essential oils) being sensitising to skin so we avoid it in our (facial) skincare, but then we're more than happy to slather fragrance over the majority of our skin organ in body washes and lotions. I still occasionally use a fragranced body wash but have really started to move away from that for my bodycare now and even my hair care as well. If I don't want to sensitise my facial skin why would I use fragrance in products that touches my body and scalp? For me it just feels like it undermines the whole point lol 😅You'll still get clean at the end of the day , fragrance or no fragrance 🤷♀️
I’ll stick to my mineral sunscreen. Sunscreen that would potentially sting my eyes is not worth it to me. Good molecules is affordable and it had a nice formula - it doesn’t have a white cast (I am white though so idk if it would on darker skin tones)
I did like using that serum deodorant before applying my regular deodorant, too. But after a while, it started to irritate my under arms after a while. The packaging also gets messy.
Do you change you shampoo every wash?
no! I do use several different ones just because I love them tho

5:35 I do boarded the Sol de Jeneiro trend and slightly regretted it...the body sprays sure but the lotions isn't that good unfortunately...even if you put it on your booty cheeks like you're supposed to it still doesn't work that great

I’m actually going to go out and buy the Naturium body wash that doesn’t have a fragrance. During pregnancy I cannot handle any type of perfume whatsoever. I even had to find unscented shampoo and conditioner 😅😅

Heads up to folks who have dogs- don't let them lick anything that has xylitol in it, like those Saltair deodorants. It's very toxic for dogs even in small amounts.

Possibly weird question…has anyone used the prequel balm or ointment on their lips? Looking for something fragrance free to heal these chapped lips!
I used the ointment on my lips!! I think Dr. Sam also says she uses it on her lips. I liked it!! Also just pure vaseline/petrolatum or Cerave Healing Ointment is great if you ens up not liking the skin utility ointment. I recommend using any ointment over a moisturiser though, not by itself. I personally just use my face moisturiser on my lips, and then apply an ointment on top. The lips lack water, so you gotta put water in them by applying a moisturiser or hydrating product, and then locking that in with something occlusive, at least that's been the method that's given me the best results

Ok, I’m confused. I thought the 2 Prequel products were used as a barrier cream for Tretinoin.
Prequel gel: I can only catch an ephemeral hint of scent but I believe you are smelling just the citric acid. And yep, that could have a bit of a funk, sometimes there’s an ick note that people pick up, I think it’s similar to the smell/taste of reconstituted lemon juice, which I can use in things but not to make lemon water or even lemon cake. So I am just glad I can’t smell it, even trying hard, I just got the nice hint of citrus. Good to know tho, I won’t buy it for anyone without letting them smell it first. These products are Holy Grail for the inter mountain west, but we’re a small demo so we don’t usually get effective AND affordable. I’m crazy jazzed, gotta remember it’s a biz not a project to make my skin happy lol!

Just saying if you want kids in the next few years… it is worth it to switch to natural deodorant and changing some of your beauty products.

See I believe there is not enough fragrance free options for people that can’t use fragrance. I wish brands would focus more on providing fragrance free options. It is extremely hard to find good products that I can use without skin irritation and most options out there are so expensive.

I’ve tried two Naked Sundays sunscreens in the past (the spray sunscreen & the OG mineral). Both were heavy on the skin and made my skin a greasy mess. 🫤
