    Mulberry silk
The most produced silk in India, making up over 80% of the country's silk. It's known for its fine texture, glossy sheen, and durability. Mulberry silk is produced by the domesticated Bombyx mori silkworm.
    Muga silk
A rare and expensive silk that's only produced in Assam. Muga silk is known for its golden sheen, longevity, and delicate texture. It's produced by the semi-cultivated Antheraea assamensis silkworm.
    Eri silk
A sustainable silk that's produced by the Philosamiaricini silkworm in Northeast India, China, and Japan. Eri silk is known for its thermal properties, which keep you warm in winter and cool in summer.
    Tussar silk
Also known as Kosa silk, Tussar silk is produced by the wild Antheraea mylitta silkworm in the Tussar belt of Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Bihar. Tussar silk is known for its natural gold sheen and rough texture.
India is the only country in the world that produces all four types of commercial silk.
