Charlie making me tear up at the end there, talking passionately about all the things he works on. You can hear how upset he is that he's been reduced to a react streamer, and the implication that all his work is for nothing, and him doing minimal effort stuff is better than doing what makes him happy.

as one of the people that charlie has reacted to and posted on the channel, I can say that he's incredibly transformative with his reactions and gives his audience a ton of new information. He doesn't just copy and paste people's videos, he GENUINELY adds so much more the the topic he's watching. Not only that, but he goes out of his way to research while reacting. This isn't a jinx type of scenario (remember him?). I just wanted to say that. hope all is well.

That one argument though: “If this piece of evidence is incorrect, then how can every other piece of evidence be trusted as true?” That argument was genuinely used during the OJ trial, and it worked. That argument is the most logically flawed argument that is commonly used.

I also love his 2010-2015 content but that's when I felt miserable too. I'm his age. At that time I could relate so much to his state of mind. He changed, actually thrived, and so did I. He has the time to reread DV scripts and fully understand it, yet in his video, he still was making fun of Matt and did not provide any insight into what the document was stating from start to finish. Hell, DV made a 47 mins video analyzing Charlie’s criticism and covering as much as he could yet people still think that he is in the fault for being mad. He spent time writing the scripts for his video recapping his works while Charlie just stomped in said, “this is pretty confusing but I guess you’re wrong”. Literally got called out by Matt on the fact that he should have put more time in understanding the materials before making dumb jokes and claims that could hurt small creators.
As a person who's been sexually abused/assaulted I definitely agree with Charlie here, no one should ever compare things like that to sexual abuse, it's not at all the same, even in an exaggerated scenario, it's still just shit. Especially when the claims originate from Twitter which is a big game of telephone and where people take vitriolic sides really quickly and oversimplify and sensationalise stories. It's a bit of a stretch but look at someone like Projared. Who had (factual) allegations of cheating but since he took his sweet time to respond to them they turned into fake allegations of child stuff and ended up with his noodles being leaked all over Twitter. Additionally it's understandable that Charlie got defensive and wanted to respond to the criticism he was getting as fast as he can. Whether trolls or not words have a meaning and it'd be hard to find anyone who's willing to go a prolonged period of time while being called something they are not.
I’m kind of torn on reaction videos because they can both help smaller channels and also just steal credit, or leech off someone else, in your case critikal actually helped your channel grow a lot. Anyways, great fan and you are one of the reasons I started playing piano.

But within the last year I came back and found out that your content has totally changed and in my opinion for the better. As a content creator being constantly compared to how you used to be 3-4 years or even 1 year ago really sucks. It's hard for the audience to accept change in the people they idolize the most.

@@ChristianBaal To be fair though, I think that DV mentioning the comparison what what prompted Charlie to even argue against him. Calling out react content is one thing, and that Charlie probably would have agreed with had that been the only thing DV mentioned. It's another thing entirely to compare it to SA. There are just levels that anyone, especially public figures like youtubers, shouldn't stoop down towards, and DV definitely did when he made those statements on twitter.
The problem is Charlie has first and foremost a LOT of power with information. And secondly, Charlie is very consistantlly someone who will strongly strongly claim things are true or untrue and that hes not wrong, and then when he's proven wrong he just says "Oh okay" and swiftly ends it. It's annoying. and Charlie seems to never do good research. He always just reads the google basics and goes onto it like facts.

It's still a human being that we're talking about, maybe he should inform himself better but no one is perfect and we are all prone to make mistakes. He has said it multiple times, he isn't a drama channel and doesn't pursue drama, but he found himself being compared to a sexual assaulter which is just outrageous from the get-go
Ultimately I think both sides have valid arguments on the situation, however when you present your side of things in the way DarkViper has then you instantly lose any and all credibility your argument had for the sake of shock value to attempt to "win", when in reality you just nailed your own coffin. Just comparing the video responses about the situation you instantly get a sense of who has a more composed viewpoint, ranting and raging about your side of it won't make people listen to what you have to say any more so than if you just presented it in a composed manner. That's why Charlie has always been the best when drawn into drama, even when making mistakes he admits he is wrong and presents the information as factual as possible without stooping to starting problems with the creators and criticizing their actions objectively rather than in a biased manner.

@@uncertainboy8893 You can objectively look at an argument and agree with its points while still pointing out the flaws of the individual presenting it, someone might objectively be in the right on a situation but if you present that information like a man-child and go as far as comparing people watching content to sexual abusers then your argument is going to lose traction because no matter what you believe EVERY person on this planet will look at the extraneous circumstances first rather than the true message, for example if you preach world peace or something along those lines your argument itself can be objectively agreed with yes, but if that same speech is coming from a racist homophobe whose version of world peace is mass genocide of those they deem "un-peaceful" then can you really ignore the presentation of the argument? Much more extreme example sure, but it is the same premise, if your argument is being presented in a problematic fashion then yes it does in fact affect the message as a whole to the audience it is presented to. Just look at what actually happened here, DarkViper had SEVERAL people even in his own community agree with points HOWEVER because of his "metaphors" the whole argument becomes focused around that and NOT what the main point was to begin with.

It is so frustrating, to the point of despairity (no idea how to write this word btw), to see people not understanding simple things. You write entire page of arguments, facts and points. But they will latch on 1 word they didnt liked and completely ignore everything else. And even more - in this anger i'm not mad at person. I'm mad at the fact, that no matter how hard i try to explain - person wouldnt understand. Things to consider in this situation: 1. This thought was distracting Viper from editing video. When you think about something important - you cant focus on other things until you express your thoughts. 2. Viper lives alone. Basically no friends, family, girlfriend. All he has - his audience. So he can express only to them. 3. He writes a script for a future video, that will take a lot of time making. But he is busy with editing pacifist run. So he expresses his thoughts in a script to his audience. 4. It is a script, not a scientific paper. It is meant to be made for an entertainment video. With big words Viper uses on a day to day basis. Like overlords. Obviously things are exaggerated for a comedic purpose. 5. His script was send to Charlie from Viper's reddit post and his twitter. And Charlie reacted. Viper didnt thought that someone outside his community will find his script. 6. Charlie completely misunderstood document. I would even bet he didnt read it in a first place. Probably someone send him link and said "This guy wrote bad things on page 4, 7 and 12". So Charlie read only those pages. And made video defaming Viper. 7. Viper, now unable to make a proper video and facing backlash - had to made a response. Where he obviously pissed for a right reason. And this is the problem. People do not read. At all. They glance over page, looking for some word they can use for their own bias. Then read line with that word in it and made up stuff, that isn't even there. I watched several videos reacting to Viper's document. NOONE read it from start to finish
@@nemesisnidhoggr1468 Not that his document didn't have valid points but unfortunately it is indeed true that if you aren't mindful of the words used in any circumstance, people will latch onto the most eye-catching phrases and sections, and arguing the text was a script and not a formulated paper is a little disingenuous when Viper himself referred to it as a 14 page document, and if it was intended as a script calling an informative document is a bit of a stretch, a key difference being that such a document should be in a unbiased academic form whereas you pointed out it is very clearly laced with his own metaphors and exaggerations, ultimately the document/script probably should never have been released in this format and the information presented through his channel in a video format, in the case of this being a script for said video also is a bit of an issue in of itself as why would he release the script before the video in the first place? Additionally I would say yes I believe most didn't read the whole thing, it's 14 pages long and most were probably finding it difficult to understand many of his metaphors. I get having difficulty getting across what you are trying to say, but if you take the time to write out this whole document you must have SOME level of understanding how these things should be presented in order for the message to get across. Again with the expression thing too, I myself live entirely alone and mostly isolated and I understand the need to spew everything to those you CAN access, however again if you don't curate yourself then some things can be misinterpreted or exaggerated. It basically boils down to whether or not this document was intended as thought out paper or script. In the former case then he really needed to cook this more before release to ensure people WOULD read through it fully and not lace in your own biased exaggerations/metaphorical phrases which people will read and question. If it was a script why was it public in the first place? Why let people read this whole thing a produce it for people to read over if it was not well thought out a curated beforehand?

Tbh I think nostalgia might play a lot in that for some of the people that say they prefer his old content. I've gone back and watched his old videos and while I do appreciate them I think they're of their time and the content he makes now is so much better and funnier.

There is a reason that after the hell that was 2010's reactors, "Reaction Channels/Streamers" still stayed because we as a community enjoy sharing experiences with others. I have trouble with mental health, and my main pain right now is that I don't have anyone to share my interests in. My family don't enjoy the same things I do, and my friends never want to meet in person, so having someone react to stuff that I enjoy and giving their opinion feels great. It feels like a friend just chatting with you.

@uzi_does_it_2017 Meaning you’re fine with allowing reactors to steal from people that actually work on content while those people get none of the benefit? Also, thanking Charlie for the “great content I would not have noticed” is so absurd considering you’d likely still find some good content even without Charlie’s help because that’s literally how the algorithm works. Charlie just takes those impressions (and potential views) away in turn for his reactions to those videos being displayed instead. So, again, you’re fine with Charlie and many other reactors doing this and harming everyone else but themselves? If so then reconsider your morals.
So as someone who watches react content, a big component of what makes it enjoyable is the fact that it's a reaction. Seeing how the original content affects the reactor in the moment whether it be something funny, awesome, sad or whatever the original content is. It's like having your friend listen to a song you like because you wanna see what they think and you can almost relive the first time you heard the song. Obviously this wouldn't be the case for a reactor watching something you've never seen before but then you still get to live that moment with them and I think it's something that's going to stick around for quite a while and I hope Charlie still does some reactions along these lines instead of making a separate video after the fact. (for context I'm only 11 minutes into the video but I didn't want to forget my point)
The ending almost lowkey got me choked up when he meantioned all the things he’s been doing. Charlie and his bois are so much more and I admire him for that. You could tell in his voice that it got to him.
Going after Charlie’s “quality” is ridiculous considering there has been steady growth for 10+ years. As someone who found Charlie as a pre-pubescent teen and now continues to watch as a young balding adult, I am here for the PERSON he is. Content will always change but the person behind the content will be what keeps people coming back.
I found charlie as an adult and I don’t think I'll get tired of his content since his entire personality is very entertaining for me, sometimes even watching for hours and he still makes me laugh at times.

Admitting that you're wrong in some areas is great. Had he not come out guns blazing with the original tweet and replies to the tweets, Dark Viper would have had more people willing to pay attention to the specifics of what he was saying.

Darkviper has the mentality of a child. The reason why this drama is here is because he relies on hyperboles and exaggerations. If he conducted himself as an adult with a point, he would be right.
There's more pain in his voice during the final rant than when he hit himself in the balls unpacking a pooping unicorn toy. As much as people will be nostalgic for the older style of some if not all creators, it's still a shitty thing to tell you directly that you're "not as good as before" I have witnessed people change their style of creativity in all sorts of media, and I don't really notice the change because I like them that much, I'm that invested in their content to continue supporting them and watching them grow. Knowing that you're happier with this new style brings us a smile, you keep doing you Charlie.
I think there is nothing wrong with saying you prefer an older style, but saying the new one is bad is not. Maybe it's not for them, but there will always be some people that like it. Someone saying they don't like something obviously still stings a bit, but taste is subjective, that's no secret, whereas saying something is bad can't be taken in a positive way and it's also usually untrue because most people are not in a position to objectively judge that.
I really hate when people feel the need to say that stuff. Like it's the creatives entire freedom to whatever they please and if people don't like it, then they can watch / listen to that older content. My first experience with this was when Linkin Park changed into a more electronic style and people criticized them for being too experimental, while their style in their early days was experimental too.
I hate the argument of "you should have waited for me to make the video" when he could have waited to post the article when he had the video ready, instead of posting the article and getting mad when people misinterpreted it.
It’s rare to see someone admit something hurt them and even rarer still to also admit they got things wrong. Not only does he talk about taking actionable steps to improve his content he really is able to see through the rant to the points made in this not meticulously crafted 14 page document. Charlie you are definitely a real one
Most would deny the fact that they are wrong, and Charlie explains it as an experience and fully admits his wrongs. I love Charlie, and I see Viper’s point, but he was being irrational, quite loud and, yeah needed 14 pages to get to a point.

I did see reddit posts saying Charlie had gone downhill, and as I've only watched for a few months, it made no sense to me. Of course, I went back to watch the older videos and the IMPROVEMENT is very clear. Then again, trusting angry redditors is like believing everything a toddler says when it wants attention.
Every channel that has changed even remotely will have people say they like the "old" version of a channel. Nostalgia is a big part of that, as well as shifting from one focus to another. He went from basically dubbing over bad infomercials, which is a fun concept, but gets old fast. Even JacksFilms' channel got kicked off from the same stuff.
The dude in question is quite upset but he couldn't properly articulate his point. I looked at his tweets about it and I assumed the same thing before watching this video. Keep doing you Charles the fact you had the decency to clarify this situation instead of letting it blow over and ignore it means you're a standup guy.

Damn near clicked away too for the first 5-10 minutes, because I haven't really followed, and therefore didn't understand at first, the issue you're addressing in this video. This is something I really respect about Charlie. He admits when he's wrong and tries to see the other person's side of things. It's a rare and admirable trait.
It's the same issue with PewDiePie. People are always forcing him to play amnesia again even though he has on multiple occasions stressed that he never enjoyed it. He also has mentioned that now he's very happy with the content he's putting out because it makes him happy. Charlie should not be shamed or forced into making the old content he used to make and infact should be applauded for diversifying into a broader field in different content which he has been doing for the past years and is actually really enjoyable and genuinely great content.
It's like when he was on CinnamonToastKen and asked him if he remembered back when they'd have to fake reactions like they were scared because it wasn't scary. I don't know how people thought that was legit lol. Not that great of content.
Well regarding amnesia, not so much true. He's stated a lot he used to like it, but all of his reactions were faked. He stated though multiple times he never enjoyed Happy Wheels despite being asked to play it a lot.

i mean you should always do what you feel comfortable with, and Charlie's one trick pony aanalogy is a good way to look at things. But I feel many youtubers forget there's a reason they became as big as they did. I like seeing Charlies new content but If he could just once in a while, do his old style of content? Why not? Like he says as unfunny and non high prductive and uncool sounding his old content was, that was great content, people loved it. UA-cam isn't TV for a reason. You look at someone doing something goofy or interesting and you like it. That's about it. If I wanted to see full production stuff I'd move to TV where they do shit like this, or Mr Beast for example, whose content I personally don't like, but he does that content in the best way. If I wanted to I'd watch him instead. Charlie doing that is fun but not doing what made him big in the first place is just... there's no problem with it, but I just miss it.
I actually like the variety in his content like doing stuff in his warehouse, or trying weird stuff like the chicken tender shake, or making tier lists, or even the music that he and Troy write together, or talking about online drama, movies he’s seen or games he’s played.

You can really tell he is deeply hurt when he was talking about the comparison to 2010 charlie he constantly gets. Don’t think I’ve ever heard Charlie speak this emotionally. Been watching since 2017, of course it’s hard to gauge people thru a phone or computer screen, but Charlie truly comes off as such a genuine person. I personally think a large reason Charlie does so well and continues to grow is because how transparent and true to himself he seems to come off.

The issue is a lot of people see two sides of an argument in only black and white. They see it as one is 100% correct and another is 100% wrong when that’s almost never the case. So whenever someone makes a claim they don’t fully agree with, they think they need to invalidate everything about that person completely. Good on charlie for seeing right and wrong in both of their arguments.
I actually see this as the ultimate response. By not only telling his rights but also his mistakes, he shows his true desire for no more drama. Just the truth. And if your position against arguments is keeping up your complaints without wanting any closure to that said debating. Then buddy... you're fucked.

Well he clearly didn’t expect a response video to an audience which doesn’t regularly watch his content. I watch his content quite a bit bar a few series and even I don’t keep up with his outreach to his community on other platforms. This type of content usually gets put in one of his ramble videos which generate buzz for a little bit after upload from his core viewers/interested randomers, and that’s it. Not one of the people it concerns and certainly not a response video that’s been uploaded to the entirety of their fanbase.

Yep. Like I've been saying elsewhere, he put this script up on twitter, his discord, and a UA-cam community post. He gave it an inflammatory title, specifically mentioned 4 creators with huge audiences, and made the sex abuser analogy on twitter (multiple times). Matt has NO room to say "Well this was just a rough script, you should have waited until I made the video!", if you're going to post something like this with an accusatory and dramatic tone to the public, it's GOING to get picked up! Fans of the creators are going to say "Hey, did you see this guy calling you out?" and like Charlie said, Viper's own more rabid fans (Not all his fans obviously, but all creators have...*those* guys) are going to take it as a declaration of war and start acting nasty to the evil dirty reactors. Viper has also taken up a very obnoxious "I'm right, my word is the law, if you disagree you're either stupid and don't understand my galaxy brain takes or just wrong" attitiude. he refuses to admit that anyone could POSSIBLY have a good point aside from him or that he said anything wrong, and that if anyone didn't understand his convoluted 14 page essay they should have just waited for the video (again, why post the thing in the first place, just make the damn video!) I totally agree because I thought that too. I had stopped watching Charlie around the time he showed himself, just happened to line up with me watching less UA-cam. And when I saw his new content, or at least a new video at the time, I was a little disappointed. But giving it another try I just saw that it was different than before. Not better or worse, just different.

I agree 100% because this is how I came to like him in recent years because he's more about the conversation rather than just sharing and being like "what do you think?" It's a lot more insightful and he has a lot to add that helps me learn more about what he's sharing with context too. It sucks he seems to be targeted for being popular when I can list a lot worse creators getting way more views doing significantly less than Charlie.

Most of it is, but it was lazy back then too his content is not based on production value it’s based on his personality and dry humor. every once in a while nowadays he puts real production value in his vids mostly the sex toy vids he actually spends money to make an entertaining video but let’s be honest, his reaction videos where he either just watches tv shows or other UA-camrs videos in full is where he gets a lot of his money from.

imma be honest, the thing i love about the youtube nights is the deep dive into the lore. Its almost never just the video, theres always some other stuff thats not mentioned in the vids, tangents that dig deeper into other aspects of the lore etc. I think that if you really want to dig deep into something, its Charlies vids you wanna see first, to get a base line of all the avenues in the particular topic.
Viper’s pride won’t allow him to fully admit that he went too far with his argument. His hyperbole almost ruined his legitimate argument. In fact, people like Charlie are being gracious to see past it. Charlie talking about this has boosted Viper’s essay. I’d never heard of the guy until this.

He doesn't just copy and paste people's videos, he GENUINELY adds so much more the the topic he's watching. Not only that, but he goes out of his way to research while reacting. He has the time to reread DV scripts and fully understand it, yet in his video, he still was making fun of Matt and did not provide any insight into what the document was stating from start to finish. Hell, DV made a 47 mins video analyzing Charlie’s criticism and covering as much as he could yet people still think that he is in the fault for being mad.
He spent time writing the scripts for his video recapping his works while Charlie just stomped in said, “this is pretty confusing but I guess you’re wrong”. Literally got called out by Matt on the fact that he should have put more time in understanding the materials before making dumb jokes and claims that could hurt small creators.

As a person who's been sexually abused/assaulted I definitely agree with Charlie here, no one should ever compare things like that to sexual abuse, it's not at all the same, even in an exaggerated scenario, it's still just shit. Especially when the claims originate from Twitter which is a big game of telephone and where people take vitriolic sides really quickly and oversimplify and sensationalise stories.
It's a bit of a stretch but look at someone like Projared. Who had (factual) allegations of cheating but since he took his sweet time to respond to them they turned into fake allegations of child stuff and ended up with his noodles being leaked all over Twitter.
Additionally it's understandable that Charlie got defensive and wanted to respond to the criticism he was getting as fast as he can. Whether trolls or not words have a meaning and it'd be hard to find anyone who's willing to go a prolonged period of time while being called something they are not.
He wasn’t comparing reactors to rapists, the analogy was to describe the idea of consent. You wouldn’t ask for consent after the fact.
I’m kind of torn on reaction videos because they can both help smaller channels and also just steal credit, or leech off someone else, in your case critikal actually helped your channel grow a lot. Anyways, great fan and you are one of the reasons I started playing piano.

Charlie wasn’t just sitting there watching the entirety of my video, which I think is quite different than purely “reaction content.”

I cannot sit and watch a stream of someone playing games for an hour, but I've watched explanations of things on the internet that span hours and In my opinion, your content hits a perfect balance of enjoyable, fun to watch, content and genuine interesting topics.

As a content creator being constantly compared to how you used to be 3-4 years or even 1 year ago really sucks. It's hard for the audience to accept change in the people they idolize the most.

people need to realize that someone being misinformed or ignorant in situations, doesn't make them liars or mean that they had malicious intent. And like charlie did, as long as you address your mistakes and admit youre wrong, then thats what matters. The comparisons made about "dont leave your cup open" are disgusting and disregards people who actually suffered from SA.
I mean even if you don’t have malicious intent, doesn’t mean that harm wasn’t done. You can hold DarkViper accountable for his analogies and how he holds himself, but you should also hold Charlie accountable for the wrong he did to Matt. It doesn’t go away just cause he apologized. @@ChristianBaal To be fair though, I think that DV mentioning the comparison what what prompted Charlie to even argue against him. Calling out react content is one thing, and that Charlie probably would have agreed with had that been the only thing DV mentioned. It's another thing entirely to compare it to SA. There are just levels that anyone, especially public figures like youtubers, shouldn't stoop down towards, and DV definitely did when he made those statements on twitter.
The problem is Charlie has first and foremost a LOT of power with information. And secondly, Charlie is very consistantlly someone who will strongly strongly claim things are true or untrue and that hes not wrong, and then when he's proven wrong he just says "Oh okay" and swiftly ends it. It's annoying. and Charlie seems to never do good research. He always just reads the google basics and goes onto it like facts.

It's still a human being that we're talking about, maybe he should inform himself better but no one is perfect and we are all prone to make mistakes. I don't really know what else do you want him to say or do in addition to the apology and the things he said will change with his content. He has said it multiple times, he isn't a drama channel and doesn't pursue drama, but he found himself being compared to a sexual assaulter which is just outrageous from the get-go
Charlie the amount of passion you have for creating content is a gift to the world.
Ultimately I think both sides have valid arguments on the situation, however when you present your side of things in the way DarkViper has then you instantly lose any and all credibility your argument had for the sake of shock value to attempt to "win", when in reality you just nailed your own coffin. Just comparing the video responses about the situation you instantly get a sense of who has a more composed viewpoint, ranting and raging about your side of it won't make people listen to what you have to say any more so than if you just presented it in a composed manner. That's why Charlie has always been the best when drawn into drama, even when making mistakes he admits he is wrong and presents the information as factual as possible without stooping to starting problems with the creators and criticizing their actions objectively rather than in a biased manner.

@@uncertainboy8893 You can objectively look at an argument and agree with its points while still pointing out the flaws of the individual presenting it, someone might objectively be in the right on a situation but if you present that information like a man-child and go as far as comparing people watching content to sexual abusers then your argument is going to lose traction because no matter what you believe EVERY person on this planet will look at the extraneous circumstances first rather than the true message, for example if you preach world peace or something along those lines your argument itself can be objectively agreed with yes, but if that same speech is coming from a racist homophobe whose version of world peace is mass genocide of those they deem "un-peaceful" then can you really ignore the presentation of the argument? Much more extreme example sure, but it is the same premise, if your argument is being presented in a problematic fashion then yes it does in fact affect the message as a whole to the audience it is presented to. Just look at what actually happened here, DarkViper had SEVERAL people even in his own community agree with points HOWEVER because of his "metaphors" the whole argument becomes focused around that and NOT what the main point was to begin with.

It is so frustrating, to the point of despairity (no idea how to write this word btw), to see people not understanding simple things. You write entire page of arguments, facts and points. But they will latch on 1 word they didnt liked and completely ignore everything else. And even more - in this anger i'm not mad at person. I'm mad at the fact, that no matter how hard i try to explain - person wouldnt understand.
Things to consider in this situation:
1. This thought was distracting Viper from editing video. When you think about something important - you cant focus on other things until you express your thoughts.
2. Viper lives alone. Basically no friends, family, girlfriend. All he has - his audience. So he can express only to them.
3. He writes a script for a future video, that will take a lot of time making. But he is busy with editing pacifist run. So he expresses his thoughts in a script to his audience.
4. It is a script, not a scientific paper. It is meant to be made for an entertainment video. With big words Viper uses on a day to day basis. Like overlords. Obviously things are exaggerated for a comedic purpose.
5. His script was send to Charlie from Viper's reddit post and his twitter. And Charlie reacted. Viper didnt thought that someone outside his community will find his script.
6. Charlie completely misunderstood document. I would even bet he didnt read it in a first place. Probably someone send him link and said "This guy wrote bad things on page 4, 7 and 12". So Charlie read only those pages. And made video defaming Viper.
7. Viper, now unable to make a proper video and facing backlash - had to made a response. Where he obviously pissed for a right reason.
And this is the problem. People do not read. At all. They glance over page, looking for some word they can use for their own bias. Then read line with that word in it and made up stuff, that isn't even there. I watched several videos reacting to Viper's document. NOONE read it from start to finish
@@nemesisnidhoggr1468 Not that his document didn't have valid points but unfortunately it is indeed true that if you aren't mindful of the words used in any circumstance, people will latch onto the most eye-catching phrases and sections, and arguing the text was a script and not a formulated paper is a little disingenuous when Viper himself referred to it as a 14 page document, and if it was intended as a script calling an informative document is a bit of a stretch, a key difference being that such a document should be in a unbiased academic form whereas you pointed out it is very clearly laced with his own metaphors and exaggerations, ultimately the document/script probably should never have been released in this format and the information presented through his channel in a video format, in the case of this being a script for said video also is a bit of an issue in of itself as why would he release the script before the video in the first place? Additionally I would say yes I believe most didn't read the whole thing, it's 14 pages long and most were probably finding it difficult to understand many of his metaphors. I get having difficulty getting across what you are trying to say, but if you take the time to write out this whole document you must have SOME level of understanding how these things should be presented in order for the message to get across. Again with the expression thing too, I myself live entirely alone and mostly isolated and I understand the need to spew everything to those you CAN access, however again if you don't curate yourself then some things can be misinterpreted or exaggerated. It basically boils down to whether or not this document was intended as thought out paper or script. In the former case then he really needed to cook this more before release to ensure people WOULD read through it fully and not lace in your own biased exaggerations/metaphorical phrases which people will read and question. If it was a script why was it public in the first place? Why let people read this whole thing a produce it for people to read over if it was not well thought out a curated beforehand?

There is a reason that after the hell that was 2010's reactors, "Reaction Channels/Streamers" still stayed because we as a community enjoy sharing experiences with others. I have trouble with mental health, and my main pain right now is that I don't have anyone to share my interests in. My family don't enjoy the same things I do, and my friends never want to meet in person, so having someone react to stuff that I enjoy and giving their opinion feels great. It feels like a friend just chatting with you.

So as someone who watches react content, a big component of what makes it enjoyable is the fact that it's a reaction. Seeing how the original content affects the reactor in the moment whether it be something funny, awesome, sad or whatever the original content is. It's like having your friend listen to a song you like because you wanna see what they think and you can almost relive the first time you heard the song. The ending almost lowkey got me choked up when he meantioned all the things he’s been doing. Charlie and his bois are so much more and I admire him for that. You could tell in his voice that it got to him.
Going after Charlie’s “quality” is ridiculous considering there has been steady growth for 10+ years. As someone who found Charlie as a pre-pubescent teen and now continues to watch as a young balding adult, I am here for the PERSON he is. There's more pain in his voice during the final rant than when he hit himself in the balls unpacking a pooping unicorn toy. As much as people will be nostalgic for the older style of some if not all creators, it's still a shitty thing to tell you directly that you're "not as good as before" I have witnessed people change their style of creativity in all sorts of media, and I don't really notice the change because I like them that much, I'm that invested in their content to continue supporting them and watching them grow.
Knowing that you're happier with this new style brings us a smile, you keep doing you Charlie.
I think there is nothing wrong with saying you prefer an older style, but saying the new one is bad is not. Maybe it's not for them, but there will always be some people that like it. Someone saying they don't like something obviously still stings a bit, but taste is subjective, that's no secret, whereas saying something is bad can't be taken in a positive way and it's also usually untrue because most people are not in a position to objectively judge that.
I really hate when people feel the need to say that stuff. Like it's the creatives entire freedom to whatever they please and if people don't like it, then they can watch / listen to that older content. My first experience with this was when Linkin Park changed into a more electronic style and people criticized them for being too experimental, while their style in their early days was experimental too.

I did see reddit posts saying Charlie had gone downhill, and as I've only watched for a few months, it made no sense to me. Of course, I went back to watch the older videos and the IMPROVEMENT is very clear. Then again, trusting angry redditors is like believing everything a toddler says when it wants attention.
Every channel that has changed even remotely will have people say they like the "old" version of a channel. Nostalgia is a big part of that, as well as shifting from one focus to another. He went from basically dubbing over bad infomercials, which is a fun concept, but gets old fast. Even JacksFilms' channel got kicked off from the same stuff.
The dude in question is quite upset but he couldn't properly articulate his point. I looked at his tweets about it and I assumed the same thing before watching this video. Keep doing you Charles the fact you had the decency to clarify this situation instead of letting it blow over and ignore it means you're a standup guy.

This is something I really respect about Charlie. He admits when he's wrong and tries to see the other person's side of things. It's a rare and admirable trait.
It's the same issue with PewDiePie. People are always forcing him to play amnesia again even though he has on multiple occasions stressed that he never enjoyed it. He also has mentioned that now he's very happy with the content he's putting out because it makes him happy. Charlie should not be shamed or forced into making the old content he used to make and infact should be applauded for diversifying into a broader field in different content which he has been doing for the past years and is actually really enjoyable and genuinely great content.

i mean you should always do what you feel comfortable with, and Charlie's one trick pony aanalogy is a good way to look at things. But I feel many youtubers forget there's a reason they became as big as they did. I like seeing Charlies new content but If he could just once in a while, do his old style of content? Why not? Like he says as unfunny and non high prductive and uncool sounding his old content was, that was great content, people loved it.
UA-cam isn't TV for a reason. You look at someone doing something goofy or interesting and you like it. That's about it. If I wanted to see full production stuff I'd move to TV where they do shit like this, or Mr Beast for example, whose content I personally don't like, but he does that content in the best way. If I wanted to I'd watch him instead. Charlie doing that is fun but not doing what made him big in the first place is just... there's no problem with it, but I just miss it.
I actually like the variety in his content like doing stuff in his warehouse, or trying weird stuff like the chicken tender shake, or making tier lists, or even the music that he and Troy write together, or talking about online drama, movies he’s seen or games he’s played.

The issue is a lot of people see two sides of an argument in only black and white. They see it as one is 100% correct and another is 100% wrong when that’s almost never the case. So whenever someone makes a claim they don’t fully agree with, they think they need to invalidate everything about that person completely. The defense of "I didn't even make the video yet" makes no sense when he released an unfinished script for an unfinished video. If he didn't want people to respond to it until it was done, he should have finished it first.
Well he clearly didn’t expect a response video to an audience which doesn’t regularly watch his content. I watch his content quite a bit bar a few series and even I don’t keep up with his outreach to his community on other platforms. This type of content usually gets put in one of his ramble videos which generate buzz for a little bit after upload from his core viewers/interested randomers, and that’s it. Not one of the people it concerns and certainly not a response video that’s been uploaded to the entirety of their fanbase.

I totally agree because I thought that too. I had stopped watching Charlie around the time he showed himself, just happened to line up with me watching less UA-cam. And when I saw his new content, or at least a new video at the time, I was a little disappointed. But giving it another try I just saw that it was different than before. Most of it is, but it was lazy back then too his content is not based on production value it’s based on his personality and dry humor. every once in a while nowadays he puts real production value in his vids mostly the sex toy vids he actually spends money to make an entertaining video but let’s be honest, his reaction videos where he either just watches tv shows or other UA-camrs videos in full is where he gets a lot of his money from.

imma be honest, the thing i love about the youtube nights is the deep dive into the lore. Its almost never just the video, theres always some other stuff thats not mentioned in the vids, tangents that dig deeper into other aspects of the lore etc. I think that if you really want to dig deep into something, its Charlies vids you wanna see first, to get a base line of all the avenues in the particular topic.

Viper’s pride won’t allow him to fully admit that he went too far with his argument. His hyperbole almost ruined his legitimate argument. In fact, people like Charlie are being gracious to see past it. Charlie talking about this has boosted Viper’s essay. I’d never heard of the guy until this.
A part of me believes Viper is doing it to stir up the pot to boost his subs. Everyone knows drama boost subs for certain UA-camrs
