I haven't got tons of time, but if you want some tips I'd be happy to help! Please email me at: mrrcfanatik@gmail.com ... that way you can send pictures or attachments. Cheers! :)
I've designed the top so that the air will have a good way of flowing through, but I know what you mean. I checked out his video... he's got a pretty simple way of making it! But the only prob is that my engine is an L-head 4-stroke.. so I've got to deal with two vertical valves... Still though, that silicon is a good idea, hadn't thought about that...I'll look further into this concept. Thanks for your help man! -MrRcFanatik
I have not yet, however, I am going to try to do just that soon here.... not just boats though.. anything! If you have a truck/car/boat/whatever, that you want miniaturized, send me a PM, and we can talk! Actually that's interesting that you are a web designer, I was just thinking the other day about creating a website for myself. I might just take you up on that at some point my friend! Thanks! And thanks also for subscribing... take care!
Hmm, do you mean the divide tool option when you right click on a single line? That IS helpful in making even spacing... Actually I'm more involved with Solidworks these days, so Sketchup is more just for fun :) Hope you're doing well man! -MrRcFanatik
I've looked into that, but unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to... The fins on the block are too close together to get a small tube between, and I don't have the equipment to make a custom aluminum sleeve for it... Also the engine is designed to be air cooled, so I could actually end up making the engine run hotter if I'm not careful. The exhaust will be water cooled though!! :) Thanks for the comment! -MrRcFanatik
The wooden plug? No... sadly it got pretty badly wrecked after I pulled the second lower mold from it. Like I said in this video... Masonite doesn't like water!! LOL. I felt so bad throwing it away though.. all that work! :~)
Hey nice boat!!! I found a weed eater engine in my garage looking to put it in. Was wondering if you can make a vid on how to get that hooked with the controller and putting it in the boat...if you dont want to dont do extra work. Thanks a ton either way
I waxed the mold with 100% pure carnauba paste wax 8 times... then took a very soft microfiber towel, and wiped on a thin layer of PVA release agent. After that I just went ahead with the figerglassing process. I don't go really indepth in my boat build series (as it's not meant to be a "how to" like this video) .. but check out some of the early parts, as you may find them helpful. Also, be sure and check out "Gasserglass" on youtube. He has a lot of helpful fiberglassing videos. Cheers!
A fiberglass resin (polyester or epoxy) would be best, even if you do not use the glass itself. If it's a wooden boat, the type of wood makes a difference... like I said in the video, this Masonite stuff soaks up water like a sponge - but if you were to use a thin plywood or balsa, then you maybe could seal it up with some paint or varnish. Do a little Google-ing and see if you can find a good paint type for use on wooden boats... a urethane or enamel based paint may be a good choice, but I'm not a professional. Good luck!
Do you build custom boats for people? If not ... i think you could make a great career out of it. Do you have a portfolio of boats you've created? I'm a web designer and if you ever need any help building a site - let me know. I'm a web designer by trade.
Too difficult to explain really, but looking back at this video, there are better ways of doing it anyway. I'm planning on a new "how to build an rc boat" series... stay tuned, as that will likely be later in the fall. Cheers!
Unfortunately it's very difficult, and was too time consuming to try to explain in this video. You'll mainly have to use the rotate tool to try to pivot each triangular segment into a solid line ... 1:43 in this video shows the wireframe view of the model, and you can see that it is made up of many triangles ... all of those triangles make up the complex angles of the hull, so it takes some time to flatten them without distorting the shape. I have been working on a new how to build a boat series, and will go over a better solution to this difficult problem.
Go to superKONER's channel and look for his how to water cool a two stroke, it can be done and its important or you will build a up a lot of heat in the hull from the air cooling system,
Hi man. I tried looking up "πολυεσερ" but the only thing I found translated as "polyester"... this is the type of resin I used for fiberglassing. If you mean can you use polyester resin to seal the hull, then yes! It's advised! :) Hope that helps what you were wanting to know.
Chris Riley I used Masonite (sometimes called hardboard I believe) .. about 1/8th inch thick and quite cheap ... and flexible. NOT a good wood to use if you are planning on putting this in the water though! It WILL soak up the water and be destroyed. Use a marine grade ply-wood (or if it's not too large, use balsa wood) and coat it with fiberglass resin at least if you are making a wooden hulled boat.
It was cool that he showed how to make the hull of the boat but he DIDNT tell us how he made it RC. Im trying to learn how to apply motors, Propelers, Wiring, Raidio controll to vehicles. He said how to make a rc boat Not how to constrict, and paint the hull. Big disapointment. (:-(
Jase Seymore LOL. I'm planning on doing a few sequels to this over the next months. I'm planning on going over the rest of the stuff you'd need to know in them. As for painting, I'm not a professional. Check out some of CustomSprayMods videos for tips on that side of things.

im planning on making a large boat, maybe 50cm, with an rc motor, big one, will take a long time but it will be pretty cool, love the design on yours!
Sounds awesome! Hope you have fun!

Hello,
where can I find boat plans like this one?
Cheers
What motor system would be ideal for a 34" or 650-700mm boat?
Bro can i have the hull plan? The hull is the hardest part to build. Im new in rc boat.
Thanks a lot man! It's turned out not that bad! :-)
Was thinking about using cardboard to make my mold?
The wooden plug? No... sadly it got pretty badly wrecked after I pulled the second lower mold from it. Like I said in this video... Masonite doesn't like water!! LOL. I felt so bad throwing it away though.. all that work! :~)

Hi Aaron! I'm actually planning a few new "how to" videos once the current D110 build is complete! Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss them!
What did you use as the mold release for the fiberglass? So the fiberglass will release from your mold.
I waxed the mold with 100% pure carnauba paste wax 8 times... then took a very soft microfiber towel, and wiped on a thin layer of PVA release agent. After that I just went ahead with the figerglassing process.

Great video, I'm currently building an airboat that will be cox powered.
Besides fiberglassing, what could I waterproof my boat with?

@@FanatikBuilds does this still work?
What kind of vehicle do you think would suit yourself the best? That's always a good place to start! :)
Do you have the hull plan ?
Are you going to water cool the motor?
Hi great idea Im hooked lol where can I find the remote and parts to steer and gas throttle any tips would help ty
Check out ebay, Hobbyking, and your local hardware stores!

Do u happen to have extra plans
Fanatik Builds, can you tell me the measures in cm?
Thaks
It's 137cmL x 30cmW x 16.5cmH ... 27cmH including the canopy that you see in the build series. Cheers
how do u download google sketchup and nice boat
can you give me a template from this boat in sketchup?
How did you flatten out the sides of the boat in sketchup?
Too difficult to explain really, but looking back at this video, there are better ways of doing it anyway. I'm planning on a new "how to build an rc boat" series... stay tuned, as that will likely be later in the fall.

how do you get the faces of your model (ie your boat) and flatten them?
Unfortunately it's very difficult, and was too time consuming to try to explain in this video. cool thanks i'm working on a catamaran so that's very handy

Sorry bro, I don't... if you need a hand with making some though, I'd be happy to give you some help!
can you post your origanal parts plan for goolgle scetch up plz
Shoot me an email: fanatikbuilds@gmail.com ... and I'll send you a pdf of my plans if you'd like.
Use a sanding sealer on raw wood.
Well I could pay u to make me some plans. Kind of looking for a 54inch apache
How much did it cost
Can u pls send me the plans ....btw cool boat
can you make that from a polyester mould?

thx a lot
Nah, Canada bro! (or should I say "Nah, Canada eh!")
I'll send you a PM in regards to your other comment man :~)
Cheers!
i want to get into the R/C / robot world but i dont know where to start lol
What type of wood did you use that could bend like that on the hull?? Thanks

you shod make a boat trailer
Your welcome! Liquid cooling would be cheap insurance!
Can I have drowing please if possible.
Would you email me the plans
Du u live in the United states
I sub you bro
I check a lot of woodworking handbooks. These one from woodprix are the best.
You can go to woodprix if you would like to make it yourself guys.

Into a real life working RC?
Anything's possible! Check out "Cataman Kosmas" here on UA-cam, he's got a bunch of videos of RC sail boats! :)
