Big shoutout to LT! Awesome how you did everything by hand using very basic tools, these guys that make stuff with lathes and stuff which most people don’t have is annoying and unrealistic! Nice to find an alternative cheap form of propulsion! I’m build a Thai style styrofoam boat but with some American modernization 4’ X 8’, 1” wooden frame reinforced with fiberglass material and covered in fiberglass resin with a roof and actuator powered plexiglass windshield that comes forward to enter and closes when inside, probably put 10 of these motors on the back with bigger motors and a steel propellor should only weigh 60 lbs 🤞🏾I’lllllll make a video 😏
You need 2 u-joints to properly run when you mount a motor out of alignment with the drive shaft. This transfers the power more smoothly and efficiently which also saves wear.
I ended up sizing up the entire thing and did it out of 3 inch pipe and a bigger prop and motor and i also sized the outlet down to an inch and if I hit full throttle it shoots you to the absolute moon 😂 thanks man
The only thing I don't like is the universal joint. Too much energy loss there and as well its a part that's most likely to break. If the water intake were higher then you'd loose energy in the lift. Best to encase the motor and use a straight shaft. Just have to consider cooling the motor. Also if you reduce the output pipe diameter a bit more you would gain an enormous power boost. Nice video. Thanks.
So do you think this has enough thrust to push my Kayak through the water. I have been looking for a solution to this and was thinking of a trolling motor but it’s really large this however looks like it could be pretty neat.
Nahh not enough thrust for the power. Jet pumps aren't very efficient at low speeds and a kayak with such a tiny motor will never reach high speeds. With this size motor, but one with less RPM and more torque (they vary) you'd be better off using a very small airplane prop about 4 inch diameter and a 3 inch pitch. You'd probably get a good 5 or 6 pounds of thrust to get you to a casual paddle speed. The jet pump in the video would probably only get you 1 to 2 pounds thrust.
@@Andy-df5fj I found this while searching for an option to power a 6' plywood boat that is 35lbs empty. I looked at macerator pumps but haven't seen the idea implemented. Any thoughts?.
@@sufferedenuf I've never heard of a macerator pump but from what I just looked up, it seems like it's designed to chop up waste which would probably be great for weeds, but I imagine at a cost of flow efficiency. I saw another youtuber mount a bilge pump which is a centrifugal impeller design like a macerator pump is. It didn't go fast at all but it did work.
EnSpired by your Video and with "Kayak Twin Jet" in mind, how would you feel about getting rid of that universal and replacing it with a FlexDrive like a cheap weed trimmer? I'd then be looking at running 2 separate jets giving double safety and some steering even without jet control, what do you think as a project ... I'd Sub and hit all the right bells and whistles
Curious could something like this work on an inflatable boat? I was thinking of a 12-volt water pump to give my inflatable a bit of a trolling motor for less than the cost of a motor mount and a 300$ electric trolling motor. I was thinking if I could pull water from the bow and push out out the Stearn it should give me some thrust but the question is. How many GPH does my boat need to move? It's an Intex 3 man Seahawk fishing boat. Carrying roughly 350 lbs half of its max carry weight. I also wonder how you would make it so it can steer the boat as well I was thinking that RC boats might be the answer they seem to have a lot of power any ideas?
you made a comment on a small jet unit and that you wanted to adapt to a kayakyou may be interested in ... have you thought of a FlexDrive like a cheap weed trimmer? Keeps the motor out of the water, the flex cable will last at least a season in salt water and cheap as cheese to replace
Get a 3d printer..... coat print with epoxy... gonna run you around 500$ for some decent speeds. 12s battery setup on a 56mm jet drive and 56mm motors with high amp speed controllers.
The “U” joint is unnecessary, inefficient complication. The motor could’ve been mounted vertically like an irrigation pump and the motor would still be well out of the water yet the impeller(prop) would be submerged. A “slinger disc” could be mounted on the shaft, just ahead of the motor to block the water that rises through the pump bearing and reaching the motor.
How it works on water is it able to suck water in when you catch speed lets say 10km/h is it have power to push kayak forward on waves how powerful is it?????
Gak efektif perjalanan jauh, itu mah jet pump buat deket" doang, buat mainan.kalau ke pulau" gak bakal kuat, mending pakai mesin motor aja, shaft nya di terusin ke pipa water pump.
Fred has a closed mind, obviously Fred it would have to be modified and upgraded, but the concept is sound! Thank God everyones not like Fred or we’d still be in the stone age!
There is a truth that nothing is eternal and flowers bloom and wither forever, thank you for proving it

Is your video out yet?
I'm about to increase everything 100 times and test it on my canoe. Thanks for making it simple to understand.
Bob, how did it go? I am thinking the same for my SOT kayak.
Yea it's called an electric trolling motor.
Tanks you lahis tech me good
GRACIAS LAHIS TECH mi dios
Lower angle of motor will help efficency a bit more. And put a rubber seal so propeller has tighter tolerance .
Whould love to install it in a kayak

Can you explain the setup please?

Please tell me this worked out well... I need to know 😂
Back Forty TV it did but i ended up breaking a couple parts so use a metal drive shaft and a metal prop.
Luke VT sweet! Thanks!
Any idea of speeds?
Back Forty TV I ended up using a 24 volt motor from a razor scooter and was able to hit just over 10 miles an hour. I think it could go faster tho.
Luke VT bro, nice. Did you have it on a kayak or what?
45 degree angle is to sharp you are on the right track love it
What kind of power supply are they using to test the motor? Where he was able to increase the speed by turning the knob. Gotta have one
Add a stator to the back of the nozzle to keep the water from spinning in the output and you’ll get a lot more thrust.
How. Plz guide
Why does this result in more thrust?
Maybe just add a brass nozzle 🤷🏼♂️
@Excellence In Animation the flow direction of the water is returned to a linear discharge instead of turbulent or spiral flow.
The model structure was good but how did it work under water like a jet scooter and the motor was fitting at outside

Should sand those edges inside of pieces to smooth flow out

Make more gradual curve at the inlet...and nozzle with 0.5D will make it work more efficiently
I understand your 0.5 nozzle... can you explain more about gradual curve inlet. Do you mean not using a 90 degree
The inlet n outlet is of the same size...so this is technically just a water pump
Thank you for the video, Want to put one (or 2 😉) on my kayak!

Can I use this on a surfboard?
That was my thoughts aswell
A great video but that awful monotonous music just drove me crazy. I just want to hear what is happening.
Thats how people behave with a basic income. Endless inventions :)
Thanks for uploading. Do you measure water accelerating speed or it pressure
verry good
Thank you

Does the motor water resistant?
What is the approximate amount to make this
Could a 12v motor still do this?

Good craftsmanship!:)

Yes
This could definitely replace the small tralling motor on a bass boat.
If you scaled it up to a bigger size pipe, motor, and propeller for sure
how much were the parts 4 it
Nice..how max lift this pump?
Bukan pake L bow.. tapi T bow lebih praktis
How would I make one for a kayak
Good
How do u keep the propeller straight because it is touching my pipe and it is not working can anyone help me
I saw he glue the 5mm shaft connector at the edge of the angle pipe, the connector helps holding the stick which connect to the propeller straight
@@raiden9335 i think he used a ball bearing or bushing
low thrust for boat

Can the motor be submerged in water ?
NO
Whats The point of that motor angle
i think its to keep the motor out of water line
Samuel is correct. In actually jet ski the motor would be an engine and it's kept under the seat our of the water
Идея хорошая, исполнение слабое...
В водомёте зазор между винтом и трубой минимальный и выход воды заужен ! У вас всё наоборот 😂 эффективность работы этого водомёта просто потеряна !
