As a California senior, 73. MTBer I find that I have to concentrate a hell of lot harder now when I ride compared to 50's. Seems like a fact of life that you'll probably crash more the older you get. A real bummer.
Really felt that crash Lance..love how you kept the camera rolling while that moment of “oh crap have I broken something” was rushing through your head.. it’s the slow crashes that can sometimes be the most painful.. morel of the story go faster? Glad you are ok
Oh that looked like it would have left a mark. I am pleased you are all good and have your harden up pills. see you on the next ride. You are doing a great job you make me want to ride my bike more.
I just discovered your channel. I'm not sure why I haven't seen it before. So you have another subscriber from the States (Idaho). It is freezing cold here and lots of snow. Can't wait to get back on the mountain bike. We, my brother and I, hit the bike parks all summer long. And we are old guys also.
Glad to have you on board. We are lucky that we ride all year. Saying that the weather in the North Island has been horrific. Floods, cyclones and devastation.
Awesome I am doing my riding vicariously through youtubers, and that fall at the end had me spiralling across the lounge. Hope all is ok. Incidentily I couldn't remember the word vicarious, so into chatgpt and he had the answer for me, amazing.
Quite good doing the runs down from the top . We did that late last year under similar conditions and really enjoyed the techy bits . Glad the crash wasn’t too bad for you in the end and you made it to Queenstown 👍
I rolled over last year in June riding down a trail in the Dolomites in the Italian alps. I landed on my face but luckily I was wearing a full helmet (not sure it's the right name). I got scratched all over and still have pain on my right arm but super happy. I never stopped riding 😊. Just a note I am 65 years soon. You guy there have a really superb scenery and great trail. Here we actually have snow so no riding is really possible
@chivolavale4094 hi Alberto. Before covid we were spending time in Italy. My wife speaks Italian and I am learning. We will be back and keen to ride with locals so you never know.
@chivolavale4094 no she just spent time there and is smarter than me. Love to e bike the dolomites. Have ridden in Val di sole, Paganella and Lake guarda among others but keen on Dolomites.
It kinda looks like you may have slowed down a bit at the point where you saw the other rider approaching from the right? Looked like a pretty good bell ringer though! Glad to hear you're okay 🙏
Glad you're OK mate, face plant is what poked my neck for a few years, still has issues. I chickened out of straying away from Woodhill closed this weekend and went bmx'ing with the boy....everything aches now, when did we get old?!
Good to see your on mend Lance, you are right though mountain biking is a funny sport that’s for sure. No matter what grade trail your riding anything can happen. I’ve heard of people getting seriously hurt on Tahi/Dipper here Rotorua. Stay safe mate 👍👍
Great video Lance little bit unfortunate about your accident after lunch but the good thing you are okay. I understand about you didn’t want to ride the steamer bike once you ride a E bike you don’t go back. Looking forward to seeing some fantastic videos down in Christchurch what I have seen on Instagram at the moment looks very cool
Bro! Are you sure you didn't get a concussion? I have over 10 in my life and they take their toll. Take it easy. There is always tomorrow or next week. Keep up the good work!
Well done fella. Looks like another one of those time slowing down tumbles. Glad you’re OK. Been meaning to ask, what is that blue watch? The strap looks like a Ripcurl Surf watch I used to have.
Phew lucky! How did you talk coherently while wondering if your neck was broke? Broken arm and other hand for me after a hole got me at Sticky forest on my holiday. Hope I can get to 440 and use up my shuttle pass if the weather and healing gods allow.
Unlucky with the crash, but glad to hear you were generally ok. I have a quick question tho'...did your helmet have MIPS? I've had a couple of crashes in the last 6 month's both of which resulted in a skinned forehead from the relatively sharp edge of the MIPS - it looked like you might have experienced the same thing? I've put some tape on the edge of the mips on my latest helmet - but probably worth providing some feedback to them too if it's not just me 🤗
I ride the KTM Prowler. The bikes you have suggested both seem good options, but they are very different bikes. You need to decide do I want a lighter lower powered bike like the Pivot or the full fat heavier bike like the Santa Cruz? Personally, I would choose the Bullit but there is no right or wrong it is what you prefer.
@patrickmckernan7122 Unless you are fitter than all your friends you don't want to have the smallest battery or motor. You don't want to be the one who says I have to head back now as I have run out of juice.
Glad your ok😮
Glad your OK Lance! And glad those tires held on for ya!
They were great in those conditions. Not bad on the rocks in Alex either
@@bestdayevermtb2 thought I spotted a KTM down there in your insta post👍
Glad you're ok!
Glad you are OK!!!
I saw you that day. Ride safe! Hope to be back at 440. Iaorana🤙
Cement pills for your neck! very funny, Lance!
Glad you're OK - it's those silly giveaway wipeouts that really are head (and neck) scratchers!
I didn't realise I had messed up until I hit the ground.🙄

That is a bummer. Yes I wasn't paying attention. Yesterday we rode rocky double black trails and they had my full attention and had no issues.
Happens to the best of us… speedy recovery. Totally not jealous one bit that you guys are down in QT… 😂
Awesome trip. Bit sore still but some epic riding.
Looked like a sore one. Glad you’re ok
Yes still sore now. Might take awhile.
This year it's a full face and a race collar. I like walking.
Very wise

I agree speed is your friend. Was trying to be careful with cameras on my back.
Glad you’re ok. The crash did give us a nice close up of the new tires packed with mud.
They didn't stop me falling off🤣
Sorry to hear that lance .I guess the slower you go the dangerous it is .glad you’re ok .heal quick and make us some more great vids .👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is very true. A bit of speed often helps and certainly would have in this situation.
Oh that looked like it would have left a mark. I am pleased you are all good and have your harden up pills. see you on the next ride. You are doing a great job you make me want to ride my bike more.
As long as I encourage people to ride and not crash that is all good.😃
I Did the exact same mistake yesterday at 440! hope you get better soon :)
Hope you are OK. I am a bit sore but have ridden the last 4 days in Queenstown so can't complain
Those tyres hung on and you didn't. Those short slow crashes are a sod, good news on no injury
Wouldn't say no injury. Neck still very sore 2 weeks later but on the bike so all good.
Took like that champ fulla 😂....sheesh!

Awsome video lance you guys were doing great. Good call on getting checked out mate its always those silly spots that catch us out aye.

Nice shot of the new tyre though. Hope you're OK buddy
All good thanks.

Very stupid crash but that is mtb. Down in Alexander riding double black trails with no issues.

Tough or stupid? Hard to differentiate some times. Still can't turn my head but ok if going straight.🙄
Great video. Hope all is ok. The trails down here are that hard with on rain for weeks the only thing that gets you is the dust
In Queenstown at present. Very hot and dry.

Thanks Chris. My theory is you can get injured on easy trails as well as gnarly ones. Might as well do gnarly ones🤣🤣🤣
Your bike rattles a lot! Lucky escape from the fall too!
That is my body making that noise.🤣

Been there done that before
I hope your bike and camera gear are ok, lucky your face and neck took most of the impact. Bad luck Lance.
Everything survived which was good. Neck still sore but on the improve
Well done fella. Looks like another one of those time slowing down tumbles. Glad you’re OK.
Been meaning to ask, what is that blue watch? The strap looks like a Ripcurl Surf watch I used to have.
It is a rip curl watch. Believe it or not it is an old watch my wife doesn't wear anymore. Don't know how to use it but it tells the time.😁

Not mips as such but a Leatt version of that. To be honest the injury was from the riding glasses. Something to be said for goggles.
What ebike are you riding? I’m thinking of the pivot Shuttle LT or Santa Cruz Bullit ? And at least you get to buy a new helmet now 😂.

Great video. You have eventually persuaded me to get an ebike. The scary thing is I’m faster on it. Not just uphill.
I love mine. Flew mine down to Queenstown this week. Mostly doing shuttles but I still love the feel of the ebb down.
