- Clinical psychologist and Harvard Lecturer, Bobbi Wegner, Psy.D., explores the role our brain plays in unconsciously gendertyping women and how that feeds a culture of sexual violence and inequity. She offers 3 powerful pieces of practical advice on how to talk to children about this, changing the way men and women see each other from a very early age. Bobbi Wegner, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist, behavioral medicine specialist, teacher, speaker, and parent to three young kids.
Over the past ten years, she focused on the impact of stress on kids, parents, and families. She treats, teaches, writes, and speaks on these issues, seeing individuals and families at Boston Behavioral Medicine and teaching at Harvard Graduate School of Education. She regularly writes on parenting and stress, and is a blogger for Psychology Today (Perfectly Imperfect Parenting: Psychologically Sensitive Approaches to Raising Emotionally Durable Kids), a writer for Thrive Global, an ‘Expert’ on NBC News’ www.parenttoolkit.com, and often publishes on large mainstream parenting sites. And, she speaks to schools and organizations about the importance of managing stress and anxiety, focusing on the need to shift the current parenting culture, and giving practical, real-life skills to the audience. She says that there is a gender bias when you judge someone by their gender, but isn’t she judging her sons because they are male. She seems to think that just because they are boys that they will be terrible people, and goes far out of her way to brainwash them into being slaves for women. I think that there is a healthy way to teach your children no matter what gender they are. We don’t have to stereotype all men just because of the actions of some.

@Midnight Infinity and btw, theres this youtube channel i found called “Dad, how do I?”, nice guy on there, he teaches his viewers how to do tasks that come up a lot, like how to put up christmas lights, how to unclog a toilet if you need that knowledge, how to jump start a car, stuff like that for young people who need that knowledge. And especially for people who dont really have a father figure in their lives. He even has videos on how to keep emotionally stable and that stuff. Helped me a lot.

I see so many female bullies these days and by these days I mean since the early 70s. They're growing considerably. These women tend to marry men who range from having difficulty speaking up for themselves to men who have been abused by their mothers and live lives of quiet desperation. These women tend to rate very high in narcissistic traits but it seems most women in general rank high in narcissism. We tend to encourage these behaviors in this country and even reward them, women, that is.
All of the aforementioned tends to fly under the radar as men are thought to be the root of the problem and toxic and therefore taught to keep quiet and many do at the expense of future generations of boys who fail to become productive healthy men since they're largely taught by their mothers how to be a man while many of those same boys are abused by those same mothers so then anger toward women is expressed in very unhealthy ways.
The cycle continues viciously.

She assumes that in the status quo boys are socialized to have a narcissistic personality disorder and just because of her parenting maybe they will turn out good people (not masculine). She assumes that in the status quo girls are already socialized to be good. That means she believes femininity is better than masculinity.
When she was talking about her daughter she didn't say "How do I raise my daughter to be a good girl".
She says that she want her boys to stand up for women. However in reality not every woman is an angel that does nothing wrong and therefore not every woman deserves the effort of men. women are not entitled to be put on a pedestal by men.
The statistic that 1 in 6 women will become victims of attemted ra pe is wrong. It is more like 1 in 80.
When she was talking about implicit gender bias she used negative adjectives for girls "pinks sweet fragile" and positive adjectives for boys "active strong blue". That's not because of how our society really is but because of what she assumes our society is. In reality there are many negative stereotypes associated with the male gender that she herself actually is 100% convinced are true.
When she said that our brains are trying to be efficient and using shortcuts that's probably more true for her than for any other person. I mean she is the person who holds all these negative stereotypical believes about masculinity.
She believes that we live in a society where men are privileged as a collective and women are oppressed as a collective and that therefore there is no structural disadvantage for men and no structural advantage for men. In reality we live in a society where men are overrepresented in many of the worst sitautions you can find yourself in. Men are 80% of the homeless, 75% of the victims of suicide, over 80% of workplace injuries, over 90% of workplace deaths, the majority of the socially isolated, 5 years lower life expectancy than women, getting less help with their problems, violence against men is often not seen as an issue at all, etc.
Nothing she said makes society better for women and especially not for men.
Probably she got into a relationship with a bad boy while frindzoning all the good guys and now the assumes all men are like the bad boys she has been attracted to.

I was gaslighted by people at my school because of my state of origin (having the highest crime rate of the country) and blamed for things i was the victim of, all of this during my early school and middle school years all up to high school. Gaslighting someone into thinking they are terrible people during their childhood creates mentally ill (men and women) until this very year, i have dealt with suicidal depression and self esteem issues, leading me to hate myself too much to even function normally.
This woman should go to a psychiatrist, her children are going to end up even worse than i was, i dealt with suicidal depression for over 10 years, AN ENTIRE DECADE (probably more) if i did have a mother like this woman, i wouldn't be alive today, to write this comment.
If you're a woman and are reading this, please, PLEASE, do NOT follow that women's example, raise your boys to be strong and self sufficient, to be strong, determined, and brave, do not raise them as "allies" of feminism, raise them to be men, weak men make weak times, strong men don't. Emasculating them would be terrible.
And to you teen boys: If you go through something similar i went through, don't try to solve this by yourselves, ask your family for help, there's at least one person there that loves you, don't let the feminists say that you're bad, your lives DO matter, they are irreplaceable, the one who decides what you are, is yourself alone, not some crazy woman on the internet, not your crazy cat lady teacher, only yourselves.

As a father of 2 daughters I put my daughter in mix martial arts and I joined them in the classes so they can have the skills to handle themselves if anyone puts there hands on them.

This is the right parenting. It just so happens that male traits tend to predict success in certain areas, but there is nothing and I mean NOTHING stopping women from developing these traits.
