It makes me nervous that he doesn't roll up his sleeves when he greases his hands.
He's doing his own left handed oil test on his new shirt, we all need supplemental income 😉
Dan's been oiling up to test a tool ever since he figured out how to use it, he's got the method down by now.
Why?
That is what we call a power move.
FOR SCIENCE!
I keep seeing that Halo Pizza wheel as a Pokéball every time they show it as a simple logo.
☝☝☝👌
You're not the only one, had to check before commenting
Me too!!
It is a pokeball -_-
I really feel that the design is a pokeball and they mistaken it.....
I love the redesign of the bicycle cutter. He's obviously pretty meh about the whole concept but he still manages to redesign it in a way that is more functional and probably more appealing to the product's target market, too.
I liked the retro angle too, but think it would have worked better if he had gone with the Penny Farthing model. The one with the huge front wheel. That should give more control and focus more pressure on one wheel than if both wheels were the same
Dan: when riding a bike, safety first *puts helmet on*
also dan: touches the sharp blades multiple times on the bike cutter
bless his heart he tests these gadgets for lefties
No... It's for people with low dexterity
Ron bee that is good because I am left handed. It’s a challenge to use things that are designed for right handed people.
PenguinGamer no... It wasnt
PenguinGamer that's not why he did it for the first one, it was just a passing comment
A lot of these gadgets are made for people with disabilities, like that halo one I immediately thought was bomb for people who struggled to use things with one hand or have a tremor. But these gadgets absolutely need to be tested for left handed people too. The scissors would be absolutely useless for me, and things are often designed completely blind to people who aren't right handed. In other words, it wasn't just a passing comment. If was for both dexterity issues and left handedness.
"The reason that its a one because we don't have a zero"
We couldn't afford the Zero.
We all know Dan was strong enough to make them put zero...
I really like his attitude
that*
guys rating me 1 through 10 be like
"it is designed to be sat on... by a really tiny person"" PROTECC HIM AT ALL COSTS
Interestingly enough, in most restaurant settings, we use pizza cutters similar to the Rock and Roll one, except they're metal, significantly larger and use two hands to cut. They have wide plastic handles on either end of the spine and you do a similar thing... though to be fair, that's because the pizzas that my kitchen cut were typically 16 inch pizzas.
It reminds me of my job at Taco Bell and our quesadilla cutters. It was metal, but a bit smaller, keeping a very similar motion. I think the main benefit is the fact that you're going to get straight lines with a rocking cutter (and it's much easier to clean)
So...a mezzaluna?
Pizza Hut had those when I worked there 7 years ago
@@Hermititis I used to work at a pizza place too and yeah it was a mezzaluna we used. It's far better than the wheel cutters, which I've never really liked. With experience you can cut any pizza into whatever number of slices you want in under five seconds, they're great.
had them at dominos. you can get through a pizza in seconds
I believe the phrase "don't try to reinvent the wheel" comes to mind.
One thing you don't mention though is that when you normally get pizza... it is pretty hot. So things like the scissors are even more terrible since you need to physically lift up the hot pizza to use them correctly.
Not to mentions the server is crap and could bend over
I'm pretty sure that the intent for the scissors is to facilitate cutting and serving the pizza onto plates in a single action. That's why it has the spatula built in.
@@nick012000 you need it to hild and get the pizza slices to the plates not falling into the ground
@@henrycooper3431 You put the plates next to the pizza stone on the kitchen bench? You're not carrying them across the floor, you're just saving yourself the effort of pulling out a spatula to serve them.
@@nick012000 eh... still when it fall there is a chance that the topping side is on the downside with isnt good
“8 even slices, when you want the largest” truer words have never been spoken
Is no one gonna talk about him drawing a perfect circle?
10:43
My thoughts exactly. The mad-lad just drawing perfect circles like its nobodys business.
Ty!! I was looking for tis comment it took me by surprise when he did that lolll
He's a professional 😆
He's been designing for 39-40 years!
Its not :)
I love Dan and his imagination. The friendly interactions with Dan and the friendly little UFO pizza cutter was so wholesome!
I think the second wheel is meant to "double tap" slicing to ensure that each slice is fully cut
No, it's because it's a pizza bicycle, not unicycle DUh.
...
I think you're right, though.
Yes, but still the hand/wrist position is kind of uncomfortable to hand it with the 2 wheels down and making pressure
He tried that the second time he used it.
The rear wheel doesn't rotate at all
@@recoil53 at 8:06 he spins the back wheel to show it does rotate
@@meg1653 I think the back wheel's flimsy or the gears might not be as "smooth" as the one in front. Either way, with its design, I don't think the design and the parts serve their purpose.
I'm self-quarantining for this man and this man alone.
He’s too precious
I’m self-quarantining for all the people that could die if I went out
I was literally about to comment this 😂
@@arizonarangerwithabigirono1520 It's a joke. Christ.
Arizona Ranger with a big iron on his hip ur name is too long
I love how dan could go from being so serious to being so silly, wish he was that relative we see like three times a year but love seeing because they're the funniest
10:42 so no one's gonna talk about how nice of a circle that was?
He did designed gadgets on paper for 40+ years. It's impressive nonetheless, but it sure isn't luck or some eventuality
The issue of storage is never brought up. I can see the eight piece cutter taking up a lot of space in my cupboard or rawer for a tool I will only use one or twice a month. And a lot of sharp edges and blades sticking out that I can cut myself on while reaching for another tool.
It's really conceived as an industrial tool for a restaurant setting I would think.
I think the bicycle cuter was meant to be displayed on the counter otherwise yeah some of them would be quite cumbersome though that 8 piece cutter could hang if you have one of those hanger for pots and pans (we have one in my house) but also I would never buy that thing lol
You’re right, of course, but the 8-piece cutter is so bad at actually cutting pizza that everything else is basically irrelevant. It’s kinda like complaining that a serial killer has bad taste in music.
They also need to do a washabilty test. I mean sure some of these fuction well but it may take a while to wash.
@@Studiepi He mentioned washability a few times, but not for every device. The rock and roll cutter looks the easiest to wash by far.
@@beeble2003 its really meant for cutting pies and sometimes small cakes
Its not sharp enough for pizza
I like that he's shaving seconds off the normal pizza cutter each time
Hes evolving
AgentC6H12O6 halo pizza cutter reminds you of a pokeball too right???
The time just keeps changing
Gotta try to improve your time like Mariokart
That’s what she Said exactly what I was thinking
9:09 DAN IS LIKE A LITTLE KID RIGHT NOW THIS IS THE MOST ADORABLE THING I HAVE SEEN ALL WEEK
I love how much fun he has with these. Those little space ship noises are the cutest
I like that he would add streamers to the bike just for the aesthetics
And room for an accessory horn.
commatoes maybe a teeny tiny bell if they don’t make horns that size.
Alright, but I have to ask, did he get any pizza afterward?
A pizza is a terrible thing to waste. Even when it is crappy pizza.
@@tiacho2893 crappy pizza is still pizza, unless it's ham/pineapple, thats a travesty
or chicago style. that's a casserole, or at the very least a bread bowl with pizza soup.
Zombycow that’s your preference. What he said is pizza is a terrible thing to waste doesn’t matter if it has pineapple or anything else.
@@Thejigholeman I have never personally ordered Hawaiian pizza (I live about 3 hours from where it was "invented"). But if I'm still hungry and there is one slice of Hawaiian left, I won't fight you for it but I will eat it, because pizza. I've had Chicago style at Malnati's and enjoyed it (it's hard to turn down sausage, cheese, and tomato sauce baked until bubbly). But unlike most pizza, eating it cold is impossible. So not the stuff in the fridge you eat for hangover mornings.
But when a gadget designer makes something for "pizza", I don't think they have Chicago style in mind. The pizza scissors would also be crap for a "grandma", Detroit, or Roman pizza. I am pretty sure these gadgets are all designed for the DiGiorno crowd.
@@tiacho2893Man, you know your pizza, I'm impressed.
I laughed so hard when he actually put on the helmet, omg 😂
* EDIT: Okay, I take it back. Drawing the face with the last one cracked me up even harder. 🤣🤣🤣
Y’all should do a washability section too.
this series makes me so weirdly happy
He’s a delight
Pee pee
I guess you could say some of these gadgets just didn’t cut it.
:D
cheesy
I think that the Bicycle was never made with the second wheel really working like a second cutter.
The bike as a whole will make a very cool addition lookwise to a kitchen, while looking amazing when doing its job. Thanks to the supports and colors in can be used as a decoration :)
man these pizzas look pale AF i wonder how the tools would had worked with an actual crispy bottom
Probably worse
So does this make him the... *Inspector Gadget?!* Doo Doo
underrated
No, it would make him the Gadget Inspector.

Dude I see you everywhere now! You're like the Justin Y. Of cooking but with videos...
@@calebgonsalves2970 Hey thanks!
I love this guy... his sense of humour is great... and then add relevant knowledge into it and you’ve got a great show.
ps: the 8 slice cutter is for pies, like sweet pies... not pizza... and it works great for pies
feel like his redesign would even serve a greater purpose then. making it twice as functional without ruining the original purpose :o
Ohhh. That makes sense. Explains why there’s a side for small ones, which is completely redundant for a flat thing like a pizza. In other news, Dear America, please stop calling pizzas “pies”, unless maybe it’s deep-dish.
@@beeble2003 it technically is a pie though, it's just very low profile.
Exactly what I was thinking!! It's for pie, not pizza. They're shaped different.
@@vexbanearamori7224 i agree
I am super obsessed with this content from Dan. Thank you, there's just something about watching the process. Super useful, although I'm not a product designer by trade I would love to design something in the future and plus I just generally appreciate when things are well designed.
Imagine your gadget being the biggest accomplishment of your life and you see it on UA-cam and old mate is just tearing you to shreds
Good chande to take it into consideration upgrade your product so it's even better and also making more money
What about "storability"? Am I gonna cut my hands open trying to reach for it in my storage area?
Kind of a specific topic but is good to add points to the Pizza Halo Wheel with the safety where you can fold it up.
Dan is the funny cousin we wish we all had.
I'd would invite him to parties just to break down design flaws of the appliances one by one

10:12 dude the rating looks like pokeballs
Wierdly it is
The cutter itself looks like a pokeball . Just cut out the halo . I was waiting for someone to say that =>
ikr. I was looking for this comment. :D
I thought It was
Guy: "Both wheels have sharp edges"
Also guy: Proceeds to feel directly with fingers
he even ran it on his hand, this man has lost it
He has a name btw
If you’re careful you really wouldn’t be able to hurt yourself, Maybe think next time
I don't see anything strange about that. That is one way to check sharpness and if you still have at least a little control over your life, you won't cut yourself.
We actually have the bicycle one at home but we don't use both wheels for cutting, we hold it in a way that only one wheel is passing through the pizza and it doesn't really hurt our hands
It cuts pretty well
Every time he says "boy" it just kills me🤣 I don't know why.
We've got the first one at home, and we had to deattach the pizza holder so now we have a normal pair of scissors
but do you still use it as pizzascissors? Is it easy to remove? (I’m a leftie, but i rly want it for some reason 😐)
@@Adifferentusername i am a leftie too and it won't work for us because the screws are just on the right side
Same here! We got this at home but without the deattach and it’s so much better than any other pizza cutter🤌🏼
Lefties should just buy large left-handed scissors and mark them "pizza" if you want to use them for pizza exclusively
I can't be the only on who finds it funny that the halo pizza cutter looks like a pokeball. THATS FROM A DIFFERENT GAME hahaha . . . (sigh)
I thought that the name halo refered to the ring, ya know like 😇.
The way he was playing with bicycle slicer was so adorable! So wholesome!
10:42 is that a perfect circle?
Company: we made this awesome product
Him: I am about to ruin this mans life

Me: (is staring at the pizzas cause I can't get pizza because of you know what)

as someone with arthritis i really appreciate the left handed oil test. so many things are hard to use and hold bc of disabilities
"With that left hand it get's that much more complicated."
Story of my life. Hence why I dislike most kitchen gadgets. Can openers are the worst.
They should have a 3d printer so then they can make the product but including the changes Dan made so they can try it
Ehhhh, wouldn't work that well since you need metal parts and such too. But I guess for holding tests it can work.
I mean the idea could work but this process is a bit time consuming when you have like 5 products to do per video

I wish this marvelous man was my dad. He's cool, creative, seems like a fun guy to cut pizza with.
Been using the rock n roll cutter for 20 some years and love it. Never knew it was missing wild hair and eyes though
The 'Rock 'n Roll' cutter is basically a plastic Mezzaluna blade.
Just get one of those instead.
I suppose plastic is a much cheaper option than getting a legit mezzaluna
@@yunan9610 legit ones are really good, friends parents owned a pizza store and I'd sometimes help make and cut the pizza. I could cut a pizza into 8s in like 4 seconds after practice
it appears also to be similar to an Alaskan Ulu Knife.
why is the first comparison with a normal pizza cutter 21 seconds and the second one 13 seconds
Practice
And the third time is 11 sec :)
I love that he keeps calling the "Halo Pizza Wheel" a space ship when it's obviously a poke ball! Maybe he's worried about being sued by pokemon? Also just generally love his reviews. Thank you Dan!
I love how he is so professional and at the same time just roasts the crap out of the pozza scissors. Like: so as we can see here, these are scissors that are supposed to be cutting pizza! They seem interesting but they're garbage. Love ya my guy xD
Imagine if this whole series is really just him showcasing his students (if he's a teacher) works, and then grading it as he goes.

Always glad to see dan, never been this early!
Ok boomer
This guy lathering his hands in oil with rolled down sleeves is pure chaos.
I enjoy these videos with Dan. He’s a delight
Oh no, I had high hopes for the bike 😭
It looks incredible unstable and I would be afraid of a wheel breaking off while using it. If there was a stable version that guards your hand while using it, I would be very interested. It looks so cute 😭
Park Tool Co. make a really great pizza cutter!
At the Epicurious/BA pizza party:
"Hey, pizza's here!"
"Crap - the pizzeria forgot to cut them up!"
"Hold up. I've got an idea"
...
"Hey Dan, we got a shoot for you!"
Looks like they did all the pizza
Yeah know
I’m glad I’m not the only one who questions pizza scissors.
The pizza-scissor I have at home does not have that giant wedge, but other than that I find it a better tool than the pizza-cutter because the cutter usually pulls with it the cheeze while the scissor makes a clean cut
The amount of pizza the crew got enjoy for this must have been worth it
Cold pizza
The pizza looked disgusting....
@@Loffacius_XVI In the end though they're still eating pizza so how bad could it be?

Shout out to his nail tech! His manicure is on point for men’s nails.
This dude plays with a bicycle pizza cutter, nice content.
The one-piece plastic pizza cutter is a great idea. Cleaning- easy, storage- easy. That´s exaxtly what you need in the kitchen.
15:30 its a 5/5. it does everything a wheel will do but its super easy to clean so its better than a wheel
I recently broke the arm of my dominant hand just below the shoulder. The non-dominant hand tests are even more fantastic to me now. For the orb/disc cutter, I think that would also be fabulous for someone with a weak upper body, even with a tougher crust. The rocker with handle improvements might be almost as good. I wish there was a link to the orb cutter. I would like to get it.
Of course the rocker is good actual some pizza places use larger versions.
Thank god you are making videos during quarantine, I'm truly bored😂
This is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen all week
My week has been bad, but this helped
His ideas for re-designing the gadget seems simple enough. I don't understand how people who design these gadgets dont think much about the gadgets practical use
Rock n roll pizza cutter redesign:
*draws a face *
I love his sense of humor!
i am so angry that the halo wheel looks exactly like a pokeball.
I love that the guy making funny little spaceship noises with a pizza cutter is also responsible for improving the design of surgical equipment and helped IBM figure out how computers might fit into homes
14:36 I love when Dan chucked the gadget into the "glass objects".
I can't get over how undercooked all those pizzas are

Me: Can i see them?
UA-cam: No
the way you phrased that made me think S T E A M E D H A M S .
We have pizza scissors that broke and now it is much more usable. We use it to cut up pizza (half frozen and baked), herbs, and other ingredients that you can cut with scissors. It is faster and less messy than the pizza wheel that way, but then it is just scissors that won't rust.
As a lefty, scissors can be a challenge on the best of days. I appreciate that he factors in left-handed people in his tests, because clearly, not all of the original designers did so.
It’s almost impressive how engineers can forget about an entire chunk of the population and we then have to pay way more money on left handed products
So thoughts on the rock and roll and the 8-slice cutter: They're also really susceptible to the size of a pizza. I mean, the rock and roll, if your pizza is too large, you can pick it up and finish the cut, but the 8-slice also has a finite limit to what it can do since it's bounded on all sides.
Almost no one found an easter egg: That one of the pizza gadgets is like a Poké Ball...
I saw it
you're not wrong but
they even drew it that way in the icon.
this series is so calming
This guy has the best dry humor and deadpan and I get the feeling that it's just completely natural, not even trying.
