Using my pup's fav toys for playing together has become so effective for the both of us.She is +10 weeks old and I get all her attention as soon as I say "wanna play?"
and the most sweet thing is that her fav toys are actually handmade by me 🥺❤️ and more sweet: one of them is a plushie that I made with parts of the fav plushie of my old dog, who is now in heaven ✨

Good subject to address! Our pup is a very energetic 9 month Jack Russell/ Chihuahua mix that is quite demanding. We were advised when we got her that she would need at least 2 hours of vigorous activity every day, so we scheduled morning and evening play sessions and walks and added more as the dog wanted more attention. Rather than making sure she was confident we have now realized that we spoiled her with too much pup-centered activity. Parvo was a restricted in playing in the yard and meeting other dogs until she was almost 4 months. We don't have many places to go to socialize her but have worked very hard and consistently to get her to behave, without success. She pulls constantly on the leash now and seems to love rebellious behavior. She really is triggered easily into uncontrollable barking if anyone is near us or our house, barking in the back yard at any tiny sound the neighbors make. If we are right with her, she is beginning to control her bark slightly to the "Quiet" command but we have to be relentlessly consistent and she still gets out of control about 60% of the time. I'm in my 80's and I've never had a dog do this. It's very wearing, as dearly as we love her.

Sounds like you reinforce her behaviour.
Begin again, taking it slow when you do things, keeping distance from all that is stimulating to her.
Jack Russell are not lap dogs they're working dogs so they do have keen minds and we often neglect the MIND of the dog, and give WAY TOO MUCH exercise. You just end up with an overtired teenager.
Using the mental energy of your dog well over 50% of time you spend directly with them will help. You can find group classes for adult dogs without basic training to attend. Work on ETIQUETTE.. door ETIQUETTE, expecting an act of obedience before every interaction.
Often without realizing, owners are tue creation of the problem and are doing every to reinforce what they don't want. And you can't be a calm zen leader whe. Your frazzled exhausted and "putting up with, and trying to cope".
You can start from scratch, with support.
Have you always HAD jack Russell dogs is that why you chose this rather than say, a cavalier king charles?!
Hopefully you're in a town or city where adult classes are run, or bought be able to engage a Veterinary Behaviourist if the issues are deep.

Mental stimulation for 10 - 20 mins "tires" a pup as much as an hour or two of physical exercise. And your bond grows, too

@@HumanimalChannel Thanks. No, have previously had cockers, cockapoo, lhasa mix. Have never had a dog this rambunctious and never had any trouble training one.. We got her from the shelter, tiny, so didn't know she had jack russell in her at first. Yes, I think in our effort to give her plenty of vigorous exercise, we probably have stimulated her too much. Cavalier King Charles - in our puppy class, one lady had one and said it was the most impossible dog she'd every had. Extremely cute. Thanks for your help. We will try to get her into another class soon.

I have a pup 6 days now ( he’s 10 weeks soon) and have done your crate training, the whining videos ectand showed my kids your videos. My 7yr old is loving all of them and can’t wait to try the training out.
So I’ve come home with family so pup needs some attention and just did 40mins running up and down the lawn with him. Result I’ve hit 13k steps 👌🏽✅responds to his name now ✅ he brings toy back when I leave him off with it. Leash training next. Thanks for your videos. I might have a very clever pup or the training is very good. Either way I love being a new first dog owner.

Something that helped was a gate (or something that your puppy can reach by standing and then easily sitting back down or going back into standing. I just used a gate because it was something that he would approach often) and I cut small bits of a high value treat and put it on the gate and would tell him up and push the treat to where he could see it and then would get him to get down and tell him down. I did the until he started understanding up and down. He would get a little treat for every correct execution of a command. So when he jumps up to bit my clothes or something I tell him down and give a treat. Those two commands helped him learn how to stop and made stop/no click a bit better. Hope that helps

Thank you for yet another great video. I don’t have a puppy but after various life challenges that meant major setbacks when it came to training my dog, I’m trying to get back into everything again. He’s always gotten plenty of love and attention, but he needs more solid routines, boundaries, and fun mental stimulation to live his best life. Would love to see more videos on training adult dogs too if you guys feel like it! I want to take classes again but I experience there’s so much shame in having an “unruly” adult dog. I remember one time when someone praised us on our progress and then assumed my dog was a rescue dog. So I had to tell them no, I’m the one who let it get to the point it was at.
I often feel like such a bad owner and then I feel even worse because I’m letting those feelings just make the situation worse by withdrawing from the crowd of people who could actually help, in fear of being judged. And round it goes in a downwards spiral. Anyway, I guess I’m venting about this here because I don’t know if I’m truly as alone as I feel in this or if it’s more that people don’t really talk about it.
But I’m trying to (re)learn as much on my own as possible, so hopefully I’ll have the courage to join a dog training community near me again soon enough. Thanks for all the informative and inspiring videos to help. 🙏❤

As a dog trainer-in-training, I've noted to myself that a LOT of people will likely feel that way....(I know I used to!) and here's my input on all the stuff I realized about this fwiw:
      1) Those unfamiliar with dogs don't know the struggle, and anyone who's had dogs totally gets it! And most basically? Everyone's WAY too preoccupied with their own problems to even think about it for more than a second, if that!
      2) When we see people out walking dogs nicely at any given time, we're not thinking about the other 500 people inside their houses who AREN'T walking their dogs yet cuz they're on same boat as you!! CONFIRMATION BIAS at its finest and we’re well-served to remember that!
      3) The dogs you DO see out and about behaving politely? Those are either owners with lots of experience, have done a ton of work with that dog, or someone else did before they got them.
Most importantly, as the saying goes, " the more I know people, the more I love my dog" has become more relevant to me 😆🙄😳 Meaning- with the caveat that your dog isn't a danger to the public obviously- your work with your dog is much more important than what strangers we're likely to never see again think.
Which would we regret more?: Not having worked on the relationship and well-being of our dog? or not having worried enough what strangers think of us...?
Fyi, I was always the queen of self-consciousness but two things helped hugely:
      -Getting older
      - PRACTICING not caring (“fake it til you make it”) gets our brain used to thinking in new ways until it becomes real and a habit.
Idk if any of this helped, but hope so, and press on finding people who can help you with your doggie!!! THAT’S what matters. 🥰

Our second dog, however, is interested in everything and will not pay attention to the same thing for longer than 5 seconds. I do my best to train them since there’s a lot of misinformation about their breed (american bully and pitbull) and they are my first dogs. The first dog is very well-behaved now but the 2nd is only behaved when asleep.

A tip that worked great for me (but take it with a big pinch of salt) is getting a second puppy. The first one was smart, obedient and loving, but he was extremely intense. He became completely bonkers around other dogs and was way too demanding of attention.
We tried almost everything until my dad told me how the second puppy changed their dog (similar situation). So we took the chance and it worked wonders. The first one is still intense, but he's much happier and calm, he even smiles a lot more now. He wasn't demanding for lack of training or attention, he was just lonely.
BUT, and it's a big but, do your homework and ask around before you do that. A second puppy requires work. I found that it's harder to find time to train them and the first one is a bit less obedient (more distracted), the little one is smaller (a small dachshund) than the first (a border collie) so we have to beware they don't hurt each other.
It's not a decision to take lightly and you have to KNOW how your puppy feels before getting a second one. Now, if you did all the work and decide to get one, it's a great way for them to be accompanied when you leave them alone or when you can't be with them, and they have someone to play and be dogs with.
