Ive read that scripture numerous times but love how he brought the heart of it out as her sins were many yet she was forgiven much, she was so thankful & grateful it showed w/ her love for Jesus. The Mercy of our Lord is so Abundant & Everlasting yet to such undeserving people, we all should be this grateful & thankful as her. All Praise, Honor & Glory to The King of Glory Jesus Christ
bfisherful What God desires is for us to mature more with our relationship with him. Not just Overcoming. But realizing our weakness and our strength comes from the Lord. Therefore we CAN do all things.... Through Christ who strengthens us
Matt, I choose to own the Righteousness given to me by Christ. God owns my sin, bought and payed for then thrown into the depths of the sea. Thats how God sees us, that is how we are to live. This teaching is meant to hold men in bondage to Doctrine, but it is a tool of Satan. Who the son sets free is free indeed. You no longer need to be in bondage, to sin, to the law, to dead religion and the guilt that Satan wants to heap upon you. God did not set us free so that he could continue to rub our faces in our failures of the past.
1 John 3:6 says that he who abides in Him doesn't sin. Paul said that it is no longer he that sinned but sin living in him. My point is this, if you are hung up on your sins then you are missing the grace of Jesus Christ. We are no longer sinners but we are now the righteousness of Christ. Don't beat yourself up, you are redeemed and now have favor with God.
Todd Kuhns You need to take 1 John 3:6 in its context, brother. In particular, check out verses 4-10. I think John here means "practice of sinning" in v6 just like he does in the other verses - verse 6's immediate context. John can't mean sin per se - that contradicts verses 1:8 and 1:10, which make clear that if say we have no sin we aren't even saved. Jesus said he who is forgiven much loves much. Matt's point is that you need to realise how much you were forgiven ("much") in order to love much. BUT realising how much you are forgiven is only possible if you own your sin. Does that make sense? Keen to hear your thoughts.
My point is not that we never sinned or even that we don't still sin. My point is that ALL of our sins are now forgiven in Christ and God doesn't see us as sinners but as righteous. Yes, we need to know where we came from and what great grace has been given to us but don't stay focused on you as a sinner. That mindset will rob you of the faith to believe for great things. It is way to easy to doubt that God will move on your behalf when you constantly remind yourself that you are a sinner. You will convince yourself that you're lucky you're even saved when God is wanting to give you so much more.
If you are a Christian, sin does not "live in you", it's power has been broken and we have been set free from it thru Christ. We are to consider ourselves dead to sin and alive to God. If we sin wilfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, we will be judged.
Todd Kuhns - Just quoting Heb 10:26. Go read read there to the end of the chapter, that’s what scripture declares. It sort of shoots down the idea that a Christian can continue in sin and still be ok before God. James 2:17 states that faith without works is DEAD being by itself.
No One Knows Your Sins But GOD and Yourself.Thinking the Sins of Others is Just Like Thinking Your Sins as Well.He Who Thinks Hell to His Neighbor Because of Sin is Just Like Thinking Hell to Himself because of Sin. Do You Think GOD can Keep on Hurting You, and Keep on Hurting You Everlastingly? You Have So Many Knowledge About Sins the Reason Why Your Mind and Heart were Merciless Hell to Others.

i never thought about sin that way
I get what he is saying but I think to understand the video it needs more context. Especially if you are starting with point number two.

So, EpcotBob, you are a works guy then?! "If you willfully sin then that counts against you. I bet you spend most days thinking God is mad at you.
