The Jester Race is the second studio album by metal band In Flames, released in February 1996. It is the first album to feature Anders Fridén as the band's vocalist, Björn Gelotte as the drummer, and Jester Head as the band's mascot.
The album was the band's second full-length album released following the more mainstream success of their 1995 EP, Subterranean. The Jester Race was recorded at Studio Fredman by Fredrik Nordström, who also contributed keyboards for the album.
This album ranked #79 on the website Metal Rules' list of 100 Greatest Metal Albums.[4] It is considered a classic album of the melodic death metal genre,[5] along with At the Gates' Slaughter of the Soul and Dark Tranquillity's The Gallery,[6] exhibiting the dual guitar leads, growled vocals and acoustic sections typical of the genre.
A remixed version of the song "Moonshield" was released on the EP Trigger. A video for the song "Artifacts of the Black Rain" was also released.

I always imagine the skies on the left and right-side having faces.
The right one is the dark one, all gloomy and the face is looking down and exhausted while the one on the left is full of light and hope while the face looks like Daniel Svensson (coincidentally) looking towards the light for a better future.

Nice job. You should try to remaster Colony. Although that one could use a full on remix probably.
What issue do you have with that production? Colony sounds excellent.
@@Vorgalothsubjective, I guess. I find the low end to be really muddy, the kick drum specifically. Peter’s bass is too high in the mix. I much prefer Clayman’s mix.
I went back to Colony and yes, I agree with you there on the low end. It is a bit muddy and the kicks need more punch and gain up a decibel or two. I think everything else sounds pretty good.@@SGgrayfox

Unfortunately they didn’t fix the vocals. Such a shame. This album was perfect except for those.

@@lapseofjudgment7382 i love metal and my bro loves this group, i gave it a try...hate to say but i been sure enjoying the new paradise lost album...it really wasn't what i expected, super mellow but man some good songs and tones
