    As someone born in Zimbabwe I have seen Rhodesia under Ian Smith, Zimbabwe Rhodesia under Bishop muzorewa, zimbabwe decades under Robert mugabe I saw that I could not cope and went abroad. Now Zimbabwe under Munangagwa is a different ball game. People have been brought back to the 17th or 18th century. Its not for the faint hearted. People have been hardened. It is a dog eat dog situation. I think I once commented on one of your videos before I went there myself. Both black and white people are traumatised. They always live on the edge to survive the next day. To imagine that there is no or very few industries no work for the youths.i have properties there and I saw corruption from the airport to council offices. Its very good you came out. Therevis no middle class .There is the very rich obviously connected to the corrupt leaders and very poor people who cant afford a meal

      Absolutely agree. It's a beautiful country full of wonderful people, desperately trying to scrape a life whilst a select few ruin it for their own gain. Hard place to live, but beautiful regardless.

      Couldn't have said it better. I left 8 years ago, I am in South Africa now. I only visited once and I came back traumatized! I don't intend to ever set foot there again! I was born and raised in zimbabwe, but it has become something completely foreign to me! I don't recognize anything familiar anymore!

      I have lived in both eras. Zim under Smith and Zim under black rule. What i can say is Zim under Smith was good really good but only for the minority. The black majority only benefited crumbs and sweets. Thats what all the majority misses otherwise a black wouldn't easily own a house in the low density suburbs, would hardly own a good car, would hardly get a fertile land to do farming. I wont blame a white for missing Smith because he was good for his people

    Thank You for sharing your story, you know what? With heartbreak comes endless rewards and new doors opening. You are a young buccaneer, you still have many lands to explore, many people to meet and many places to be. I had to start over after heartbreak in my late 50s... I'm now 64 years old.... travelled the entire Southern and Eastern African countries for three years now (after retirement). You will be just fine, the heart will heal and you will find new love. 💙💙💙

    I lived & worked in the UK for 20 years before coming back to Zimbabwe permanently in October 2020. Living in Zimbabwe is definitely challenging, but the way to get around is not come to Zimbabwe with a European mindset. You have to try & do as much as you can by yourself without waiting for someone else to assist you. Generating your own electricity, having your own water supply, cooking with wood and gas really helps. Staying out of politics also helps a lot.

    😢 I am sorry to hear about the divorce. But I hope you feel confident enough to visit Zim again. Have you considered starting a tourism business I mean with your experience. You could organise tourists from UK to Zim and SA. Accommodation is a challenge in Zim. That's why locals buy residential stands and build. I am in the UK and that's what most people do. I don't know if you managed to get Zim citizenship but you could do that as well if you like. Plenty of tourist towns where you can apply for land directly thru the council to avoid scammers build close to the lake its easier if you are in UK and have a steady flow of income. Can use it as a air B&B guest house etc.

    Thank you for your comprehensive reply. I really appreciate it. However my stance on Zimbabwe still stands my brother. Like I said I was in Zimbabwe this last February. Just 5 months ago and I am still traumatised. The roads the noise the corruption the dust the litter sewage running in ehe streets. the needy people around me the Air pollution I have to repeat corruption in every area from the airport to the council affixes. I have agreed with myself that after I have lived for more than 20 years in a development country I can not cope
    People are too needy heartless. The respect and morals I grew up in is all gone. No good governance no post office no public office corrupt civil servants. Mmmm brother Zimbabwe is now an alien country to me. At my age I like peace and tranquility not the chaos I saw I came to the west and worked really hard for nearly 15 years and that's me done. I can go to other islands 🏝 for holiday and sun. Zimbabwe is no longer a priority to me

    Sorry you got cheated on. You're a kind soul, and unfortunately folks with kind souls, are magnets for unkind people. 😢 I'm glad you got out of it on the first cycle of the 7th year. Watch the pattern, it comes in 7 years. Others are cheated on, and treated poorly for multiple cycles of the 7s. Calculate and see how Carrie will get used and discarded on one of the 7 year cycles. It's called a Shmita Year. It literally translates, the Year of Release.
    She's the reason you suffered major set backs in Zim. She carries that streak of misfortune. So you were released from it because you are a good soul.
    Try Zim again without her. She'll come crawling back to you, but now you know better than to give her a bear hug😊

    Dont compromise because of the blind effect of hurt.

      Wise words ☺️ though the experience, at the time, broke me down, it allowed me to discover who I was, to grow, learn and rebuild stronger. Life is too short to harbour resentment and carry anger and hate. If my hands are full of those things, how can I take the good things life has offered me? Better to learn, grow and move beyond. Her actions speak to her character, but how I respond to them speaks to mine.
      Zimbabwe was an incredible place and experience that taught me so much about myself and what I could do in life. I'll never forget that. I'll carry the good memories, and turn the bad ones into good lessons. I'll be back one day, for sure, perhaps with a new family to show them the magic of those lands and the people who live there!!

      @@cptbenzieMmh, Your manner of talk and choice of wording about your experience is so inspiring and encouraging to us. It's like it's us now who have experienced your sad experience and you comforting and filling us with hope. What a character never to let go, what a loss to the unfaithful.
      We are waiting for you so eagerly than you expect and know. We miss those presentations. More so that you left here with an experience and went so far away only to talk of Zimbabwe again.
      Unlike the French and the Americans ,the British people are a part of us and you people made us what we are today, that's why plenty of us are at "home" in England today. So, there you are, you are not a stranger for many of your ancestors have made this their final resting place, great men. You have already been intimately close to the land and the people so, the blessings are available for you despite your experience with ONE coz Zim is your home away from home.. it's a pity you never went to Harare where many Zim.born Brits are, perhaps you would have caught a better " till death do us part "
      Whatever the case, when you come again plz come with new ideas. If you don't, we will give you. The new Zimbabwe coming is going to bring a lot with it including grest changes SO SAVE.
      It's good for you to globe trot for the mean time and let off all that steam but you can't do that when you old so come now and simply register a company in anticipation for the new Zimbabwe coming....so that at 60, your kids will run the company while you globe trot and ride the trial the second but final time around. I am sorry about your ideal. I ama Zimbabwean living abroad. I went back in February 2024 after living abroad more than a decade and I was shocked and yet I was born there. I watched your channel. I saw that you were shieled somehow from seeing the raw Zimbabwe. Its a beautiful country with beautiful people but these people live in perpetual trauma because of lack . They are so used to crooked ways to an extent of being heartless. When I came back on reflection I realised xIwas traumatised by my own country of birth. In short I can't cope. Probably your ex wife was just a golddigger. she just wanted someone to take her out to go to UK. When she saw that money was nomore she looked for the next customer to take her out of Zimbabwe

    • @cptbenzie
      @cptbenzie  4 місяці тому +2

      Funny thing is, she never wanted to come and visit the UK. I came back for three weeks in 2019 to visit friends and family, and she refused to come with me. I think she just wanted her country and her home, with someone who would pay for it all for her. Either way, I wasn't perfect either, and I'm stronger now ☺️

      Let me reverse this and say that, by the same logic, Zimbabweans should stay in Zimbabwe rather than moving across to SA, Botswana, Zambia or Europe? The world is made STRONGER by people working together, and my time in Zimbabwe was spent promoting what a wonderful country it was and how amazing (most of) the people there are.
      I really hope that you heal from whatever has made you angry. I know what holding onto anger can do - your hands are too full to take hold of the good things that life brings. Let go of the anger and I'm sure that good things will come your way ☺️

    Life is a journey of self discovery and learning - well done to you! I am glad you do not come across as being bitter towards those you have encountered in your life journey - very important as bitterness is a cancer.

    • @cptbenzie
      @cptbenzie  4 місяці тому

      Life's too short to be bitter. It hurt like hell, for sure and ground me down to dust for a long time, but it was from that that I've been able to discover who I am, grow, learn, and rebuild stronger. I've been able to learn what I am worth, and I'm worth more than how I was treated. What Karry did says something about her character, but how I deal with that, respond to it, that says something about mine. I do wish her all the best in life, but if my hands are full of anger and regret, then how can I take the good things life will offer me? ☺️

      Home is wherever you choose to make it, wherever your heart lies. During those seven years, I supported my local community. I worked hard to earn money via UA-cam, then paid it all to my local community. I spent time showcasing how beautiful Zimbabwe is, and how amazing most of its people are.
      So don't come at me with the attitude of "We were born here and you've gone home". Imagine if I were like that to any Zimbabwean in Europe? We're all just people. Let go of the hate and anger in your heart, my friend. If your hands are filled with hate and anger, how can you take the good things that life offers you??
