    can see the Zim culture really touched you but thats what we are as ZImbabweans and do u know at times as ZImbabweans we may not realise that we are such great people because most of us havent travelled to see how other people live so when you say this it encourages us to keep doing good. We have been brought up that way, a stranger is supposed to be given food and shelter and water to drink, its not possible to pass by and not greet each other, its a rich culture
    and yes we are identified by totems, lion (Shumba and they have various sub categories), the monkeys etc and its true, therez a connection btn nature and people in this country
    Briain and Zim should have visa free access to each other by now we should be the best of related nations, yes it was created out of colonialism but i believe it was for a purpose, i would love to see free movement of people btn the two nations, you can imagine the amount of tourism and business opportunities. we dont need to hate each other

    • @cptbenzie
      @cptbenzie  Рік тому +3

      Absolutely agreed on the tourism front. Unfortunately, the UK government (and media) both frame immigration as a bad thing, to create an enemy to distract from how the government is stealing from the people and ruining the country to make themselves and their friends rich.
      Most actual British people love to travel, love to meet new people from exciting cultures. But you'd never get that impression from our government or media...

    I am Zimbabwean now living in the UK. Thank you for reporting truly who we are, forever smiling. I have been told exactly same here in the UK, and just joke my smile is permanent. Truly, Zim is unique and genuinely taught to love and just only that, and of course smile, everytime!

    I moved from Zimbabwe to the UK recently, and it's always a struggle passing someone without greeting them or smiling atleast. I'm used to the friendliness and the spirit of Ubuntu back home. You made me so homesick! We are now in W Australia after losing our farm. I still talk to everyone and greet people when walking but don’t always get a reply. We always made plan B work and were so contented without having to shop! I miss the night sounds! I tell everyone that the people were friendlier, the skies bluer and the food tastier than anywhere else!

    You will not believe this, but in 2015, I too met the love of my life who lived in Vic Falls, through a mutual friend from Zim now here in the states..We talked for 5 months until my arrival in Zim Sept 2015..We married in Vic Falls Feb 2016 & I stayed with my hot Shona husband for 8 of the best months of my life. We both came to the states 2017, where we worked incredibly hard together to buy our beautiful log home BUT we are moving back to Zim for good next summer & I can hardly wait. Despite the fact he's black, I'm white & I'm 15 years older than my husband he is the best thing to ever happen to me and Zim is home..Thanks for sharing your story & I totally get it. Beautiful country, beautiful souls in that country.

      Sadly, there are some in Zimbabwe who frown on such relationships (mostly the whites) but I think it's wonderful that you both found someone whom you each love deeply!!

      @@cptbenzie You are very right of course about those who frown upon mixed couples, but it's simply because they are lost spiritually & judge with their eyes instead of their hearts. If they'd only just close their eyes, they might become more awake. And on another serious note, we live in the country of Wisconsin, which is primarily white & they too can be very close minded & dangerous to the point, I over protect my Shona husband w/ a gun at my disposal..How sad is that? Though there are many like that in Zim, the threat of violence there is nothing like here in the states.

    I’m zimbo, born, bred and still living in Bulawayo. I have to say, firstly, it’s so strange to see someone leave a first world country to come here. That just blows my mind. Secondly, I cannot get over your love for the country, and particularly the city, seeing the city I live in through a foreigner who also call this place home is just something else. It’s so refreshing seeing a REAL perspective of Skies from you. I really enjoy watching your channel and seeing as Bulawayo is such a small city, I’ll be sure to say hie when I eventually run into you.

    You fully deserve to be an ambassador for Zimbabwe because you have accurately put a correct picture of Zimbabwe to the world. The beauty of landscape, the diversity of flora and fauna, the friendliness and resilience of the people(both white and black) is very true. It's very true as you said that the food(meat or fruits or vegetables) tastes original since they are not genetically modified.
    Your videos are just amazing and now my vocabulary is limited and don't know how to express my gratitude to you.

    what you are saying its true thats what we do. I am from Plumtree, a Zimbabwean living in UK. I always visit my country twice a Year and when i am driving i always carry Battery jump leads, toolbox, water extra bolts and nuts. rope to pull cars, small 12v air compressor, one jerry can full of diesel etc. I have helped a lot of people free of charge with those things. when i see a car on roadside i always stop and check if they are ok. most people they do stop as well when i am on roadside.

    Great video and love learning about different places in the world! Did have a gaming question that related to Zimbabwe. In Civilization VI, there is a wonder that can be built called the “Great Zimbabwe.” Is this a place that could still be visited? Is it famous inside the country and is it even inside the country? I’ve never heard about it until I played Civ6.

    • @cptbenzie
      @cptbenzie  Рік тому +1

      Yup! It's a real place, and proof that the natives were capable of building great things, farming, storing etc long ago. I've not seen it with my own eyes but apparently in the sunset light it's quite haunting!
      Its near the town of Masvingo. I'd love to see it one day and go around filming it.
      It's also supposedly where the country got its name.
