this is the 6TH video I was watchin for getting OSD but the first that besids not rambling on 80% of the time - actually showd me the problem!!! BIG THANKS, I was messing around for 4 freaking ours ....
Great video, the clearest so far! makes the grind a lot smoother.
Awesome tutorial, Albert! Thanks a lot! 😊
putting the block with guide up top, ty so much.... you know when you just want that quick fix lol.... much love
Thanks for the review. Great presentation
great video, I couldn't remember if I needed those last two wires if not using dji controller,,,and you answered that question fast...
Glad I could help
Thanks ak,now i know how easy it is to wire the dji unit👌
hi, so the last 2 cables. the brown and yellow no need to solder. If i dont use DJI radio controller right? I am using XF now. thx
Thank you, I was looking for info about what to do with DJI HDL cables and you helped me in 1:13
You're welcome!
That was quick clear and conscience. Would you post a vid on how to do this exact setup on a fixed wing using TBS tango v2 transmitter. This stuff is fascinating to me but most of it is over my head and without exception every other posts is just bla bla bla or " you know " or " obviously " or "just like last time "
thanks for confirming that S-GND and S-Bus need to be disconnected when using a receiver 🍻
This is very cool especially since i was lucky enough to find an "old" air unit module with camera! Also "Entry for SpeedyBee TX800 VTX
😎
Thanks for vid. Does the wiring of air unit are similar to the CADDX ?
Thanks for sharing, Would be great to show how the control surface 6 channels of an aircraft would be connected to the dji air unit to use the dji transmitter to fly a fixed wing airplane. Or maybe you can make a video on how to power the dji air unit in case going to use a spektrum tx and rx , could the AU be powered from the rx or the 6s Lipo balance lead? Thanks.
No idea what is the flight control since it is not used in fixed wing aircrafts. Thanks
very helpful vid, thx! 👍
Do I connect the dji 04 pro to 5v on flight controller if I’m going to be running 3s lipo on Itsy Evo drone?
can i current air unit directly to 4s battery? wanted to put one in my RC car.
Yes and yes I have I even put in another uart
Thanks
Great video. Why is the RX cable soldered to the TX pad and vice versa?
That is how the UART connections work. RX to TX and TX to RX. That's just how it is.
Thanks very much 🙂
@@scolty rx is receive and TX is transmit. Think about baseball. You throw from your hand (transmit) and catch in a glove (receive). You wouldn't throw a ball from a glove or catch one with your hand. I mean, yes we've all tried both of those things, but you get what I mean.
Your hand throws a ball and a glove catches it.
TX sends signal and RX receives it.
can I Connect the signal ground and the other ground(black to the same Ground on FC?
In the video you point out a specific pad for the signal ground (brown wire). My understanding is that every ground pad on the fc should be the same electrically? Is there something unusual about that brown signal ground wire or can it just be connected to any ground pad on the fc?
Thanks for the clear and concise how-to's...you are one of just a few youtubers I go too for information like this.
All the grounds should be the same on most flight controllers. There are some where it may not be and you'll have to consult the documentation for those specific cases. Those are rare however.
Hey Robert thanks for the tutorial, though I have a question in regards of opening subs ?. What if I’m using elrs and I need the crsf to opened for my radio? Thank you
help I broke mi positive pad en the vista I just try to scrape to find a point to conect but it has continuitu with the negative pad so I need yo know where can I put muy imput postive in the board please help....
Hi, can I power the unit without a flight controller just with my receiver and transmitter, thanks
Yeah, I have one on an RC truck here - ua-cam.com/video/TLCRTKxsnck/v-deo.html
can I use a Matek 2-8s micro 5v or 9v Bec Straight from the battery leads
hi have watched your video but i cant seem to find an sbus pad on my filght controller ? SucceX-E F4 V2.2
thanks for all your videos Ian.
Sorry, I don't have the wiring diagram for that board. I would ask iFlight support.
@@AlbertKimTV thanks . I had a look and they don't have one on there website.
Trying to convert an analog nazgul5 to digital.. thanks again from New Zealand 🇳🇿
I fly 5S with the DJI air unit all the time, power and ground straight from battery. I've read the air unit has a 24v regulator and that people fly 6S without issue as well (though that is pushing it)
Did it ever break from excessive voltage?
@@captainmarcin6105 Nope, still going strong today
Hi.... loved the video but need help please... I can’t get the OSD to work on my goggles I have switched the TX AND RX around and nothing.. if you have any ideas please help me out I’m going nuts.... thank you in advance
Have you turned on the Custom OSD option ON in the settings? Are you on the latest firmware for all components?
Why does it have power GND and signal GND? Can't they all just be together on the same GND pad? Does it matter where I wire the grounds?
Does this Works the same with the o3 bro? My connector came off mob 8 o3 and I don’t have to go through the pain of getting a micro soldering kit.
It's very similar though not sure it's exactly the same.
@@AlbertKimTV what’s the difference if you don’t mind me asking? Trying to get this quad in the air.
Hi , I want to wire my DJI air unit to my immersion vortex 285 , I am using my own transmitter (EzUHF) , any ideas how to do this ? I am going to remove the Video transmitter that is stock , and intend to power directly from the power pad for the main battery lead but would like some ideas where I would wire the other cables .
Sorry, I don't know anything about that model so not sure how the board is wired up or what pads are the UARTs. I assume you got a manual with yours? I'd try to start there.
If I'm using my own receiver (csfr) and I don't use the sbus, do I still need to enable the msp for the uart to control and display info from Betaflight?
If you don't enable MSP, I don't think the OSD will work.
Please help bought this with air unit.... i dont want air unit i want my run cam split that will neex a vtx..... do i need new f7 as this is just all connectors? Do i need new esc board ?
Please help
Hey there im confused about this board " flycolor x-tower 40a " could you somehow explain to me how to hook it up to the dji fpv camera?
Been seraching around and cant find any help. Thanks
Don't have that board but it should have come with a manual with wiring diagram. Just match up the wires to the same pads on that FC like in this video and it should work.
@@AlbertKimTV allright thanks for the response. The thing about this FC is that it doesn't have any solder pans only contacts. And what I can read from the manual is " FC integrated 3.3V, 5V, 12V for a receiver, VTX, camera, buzzer, LED and other peripheral devices" does this mean it will it will be ok to hook it up there even if I fly with a 6s battery? Do you know if the FC will be ok to support 12 with 2a ? Or should I get a regulator between camera and the battery?
Any idea if/when DJI is going to implement the full betaflght osd?
Yes, but I don't know when
WHat if your not using the signal wire. will I still get OSD ? Haven't tried hooking thats up ,but want to install GPS on my iflight 5" with TBS Crossfire.
You still get OSD, just nothing for RC signal
I need help, I have assembled a drone with the AIRUNIT and everything is fine, except that I cannot show the drone's battery charge, GPS data, etc. on the screen, of course, in the glasses it is configured as CUSTOM OSD: ON
Help
You don't have the UART setup correctly. Either the wires are reversed or you don't have MSP enabled on that UART or you have it enabled on the wrong UART.
@@AlbertKimTV Thanks, my error was the MSP
What does the MSP configuration of a port do in Betafligth? When should it be activated?
Thanks
hi mate, question on your wiring harness and can you please give me the link, and would it fit on a beta flight F4 v3 flight board on the J13 socket for the receiver
Quick question, can you get sound into the goggles front air unit?
No, sound is not transmitted.
How do you connect this to a 6s set up with no pads on FC for required power?
You need a 9v/2A regulator wired in between the Air Unit power and battery.
Hello there Mr Kim ...I connected all up to my flight controller and pwr up all open bata flight and i get no receiver to radio connection its a dji radio what am I doing wrong??? help please thanks
Need more information about your setup and how you connected everything. I don't know what's wrong given almost no information about what you have.
@@AlbertKimTV my bad ... i found out what it was had to set sbus_ baud_ fast = on/ I have a speedy bee f4 4.1 bata flight setting its working fine now... :-) thanks for getting back to me fast though I really appreciate it :-) great video too good job !!!
Thanks for this vid, at least confirmed what I read on the wiring diagram of HGLRC F722.
I'm confused, went over it several times.
I couldn't use the wire harness that came with the FC because it's too short (tough luck - would have been easier to just plug in both sides) so I used the cable that came with the air unit which is long enough and solder the cables to corresponding FC pads.
I haven't used the last 2 wires because I am not using dji controller.
I'm sure I have the wiring correctly done and I verified continuity between each cable of the plug that goes into dji air unit to each pad on the fc.
I have MSP activated on the right UART number, I have OSD enabled in BF, dunno what Display does but I cannot enable it for some unknown reason.
I have Custom OSD enabled on the Goggles but still not getting any OSD elements.
Is there anything else I can still check?
I'd have to take a look at a photo of your wiring and parts. Post a photo to Instagram and tag me @marblekit.
@@AlbertKimTV Finally found the nasty cause of my problem, did felt like the plug that goes into the air unit was a little bit harder to insert than I was used to, in fact a tiny little piece of sh**** cable silicone tubing (hard to even see, probably from when I was removing it from the ends on the other side of the cable to solder to fc) got stuck in the air unit female plug part blocking connection to either white or gray or both, geez that one got me struggling. I even checked continuity of cables but didn't see that one coming.
Either way still many thanks man for taking the time and wanting to help me in the first place, much appreciated.
Will not forget that, maybe I can help you with sth one day.
I have the DJI air unit running the goggles and a DJI remote controller but I cannot figure out how to wire the air unit to the the drone. I have watched many UA-cam videos but they seem to be different wiring specs, help anyone?
Can you use an alternate pad/uart other than sbus for the controller?
For the RC control, only SBUS will work. There might be a way to make a UART RX pad to work as SBUS but that will vary by FC model. You'd have to look at the FC manual for that information.
@@AlbertKimTV Thanks Albert!! Appreciate the answer!!
I'm planning on putting a caddx vista on my rc plane with no flight controller. Should there be a issue with just soldering a jst plug straight into the camera unit with a 300mah 3s lipo powering it ?
Should work
I'm still unable to get osd v-bat from the bird in the goggles .. only goggles battery voltage
You probably have your white and gray wire flipped
Do I really need to use the flight controller or can I just direct power to lead and then to goggles?
You need the flight controller to send the arm signal so the air unit will go to full power. Otherwise it stays in low power mode.
hii sir, how can i soldering on my IFLIGHT SUCCEX-E MINI F4 with caddx vista,i dont where and where the wire.. pls help..
Ask iFlight support for the wiring diagram for your FC. I don't know either. Please help me. 😁
You have it on rx1and tx3??? should it also be on tx1??? or rx3 and tx3???
You are confused by the labeling on the FC. Looks again and you'll catch your mistake. 😂
@@AlbertKimTV MY BAD LOL..!!! THANKS
The grey should be on rx not tx right? And white wire should be on tx not rx... that is why mine is not working
Watch the video again. Where the pad labels are make it a bit confusing. It's wired up correctly. Many other people are seeing this incorrectly as well.
@@AlbertKimTV jus saw it jus now bro albert.. mah bad.. hehehehe your right.. hehehe..
Just got my first air unit. I also thought your wiring was reversed. But yeah it's correct. The problem was that the FC labels were on the bottom of the pad. With the other FCs I've worked on over the years (analog), the labels were typically on top of the pads. Thus causing the confusion I guess. Thanks for the tutorial video!
On my Kakute F7 AIO it just says 5V power output... will the DJI Setup work? I e-mailed you a picture of the setup. It would be great if you could help me out!
1st lol Thanks for the info.
ik this might look like the dumbest question ever but in fpv what type of wires should you be looking for? for repairs and stuff
Size depends on the power draw requirements. If it draws a lot of power, the thicker the gauge of wire you need.
@@AlbertKimTV okk, ty!!
Trying so hard not to buy this 😂😂
jovid7 i tried for a few weeks:)
mine is sitting in the shopping cart
jovid7 it’s practically yours 😂
I pulled the trigger but mine is sitting on my work bench still in the box... I'm tied up until Sunday evening so don't want to even get started.. Will be putting it in my Armattan Chameleon Ti
I envy you guys that have the space to fly 5 inchers. I'm kind of limited to 3" max so it's made it a little bit easier to layoff of this otherwise, I'm sure I would have burned my 💲💲💲 on it already.
Hello from Spain, please I would like to ask you a question: is it possible to connect this system to an MJXBugs8? by connecting only the power and would my glasses receive the signal? Thank you very much for your videos and greetings.
Yes, you can connect it to anything that will supply the correct voltage and you'll get video to the goggles as long as it's properly bound.

Okey, exactly, my idea is to fly the Bugs 8 with its radio control since it seems to me an excellent Drone, and the DJI camera equipment installed in it, thank so much for your valuable information, best regards!
Thanks
Hello Kim ...I connected all up to my flight controller and pwr up all open bata flight and i get no connection between the dji system and the fc its a dji radio what am I doing wrong??? help please thanks

Hi I have a caddx vista and my cinewhoop uses 6s batteries. Will 6S also melt the caddx vista?
It is rated for 6S but I recommend using a 9V/2A BEC to power it instead. I hear 6S usage over a long time will shorten the life of the Vista from the extra heat produced on 6S over a lower voltage.
How do i remake this drone abd take the air unit off? Do i need to get a new f7 and start again adding a runcam split and vtx?
