Thanks a bunch for this video. Just getting back into drone building after a long hiatus. Getting ready to build my first toothpick and this video was super helpful. I was initially intimidated by the tiny FC.
This is the best soldering tutorial I have watched so far
Feel confident for when my practice board arrives that I know how to approach it
Thanks
Definitely some good advice I've been try for 4 years to learn how to solder and all my problems where the non lead solder and ones with flux in it. Now I know thanks
This is the absolute best video I have seen. Thanks, I learned a lot!
Thank you, this is very helpful and professionally presented. The ending is very humorous too!
you save people a ton of money. thx
This was very helpful, thank you! That "TIP-ically" bit made me lol
😂 had to throw it in there, glad you found the video helpful! 🙌🙌
Thank you for the great info! Very helpful for us new guys just starting out!
That's my goal! Lots of videos on the way geared towards people new in the hobby 🤘🤘
Thanks for watching!
Excited to solder after watching this. Burned up a fc with a motor bridged using a thicc soldering tip 🤦♂️ time to rebuild
I did the exact same thing when I started haha. Keep at it!
Learned last night that you need to use tip tiner to keep the tip from oxidizing and one it does the tip is useless but good learning experience and was confused why it wasn’t heating up the solder
My granda (RIP) was violinist. She was terrified ones I used her violin rosin as flux. Basically the same thing.
Miss those times tho...
I have that same soldering station, it's great!
Ye buddy!
Me too 😁
Really nice tutorial mate! Thank you for sharing 👌
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Thank you, very helpful to see. The video was clear and in focus which may seem like yea of course it is but I watched another video where the video kept getting blurry on close up shots. Cheers
Nice tutorial, I learned it the hard way, already fried some of my quad FCs
haha thats how I learned too!
First drone I built I fried due to bridged pads and sloppy soldering
@@TRONCATFPV My first full build kit is Bardwell's edition of the QAV S2 from Lumenier. Praying I do it right the first time!
This was a great video, thank you!
Very very nice tutorial.
Thanks.
This was so helpful man
Thank you for the video and advices!
These small servo pads are a pain in the rear if there are many of them in a tight place😅 Is it just me?
This looks like magic, I was trying to solder for 3 hours, spoiled 5 tips, temperature around 350-400 every tip turns black after few minutes, then solder doesn't stick to the tip. Also for some reason I cant get solder stick to some pads (ground pads), sometimes solder sticks but then I can't melt it again. I think I spoiled several pads on flight controller, they look dark and solder doesn't stick at all. Going to buy tip cleaner, more tips, practice board and try again...
Did your flight controller end up needing replaced?
Great lesson. Very much appreciated. Thank you.
4:39 “I usually run at 420° Celsius”
Nice
Excellent! Thank you!
This video! Thank you for sharing. A+

So what’s going on if the tin doesn’t stick even if you use flux?
I feel like my pads look good when i tin them, but when i go to put a wire on it sits on the top of it, rather than being covered in the solder, what causes this? Not lifitng up correctly once it melts?
I have the same problem. Any luck figuring it out?
@@nathanlane6490 I'm not entirely sure, I know I got a little better but I'm not sure what I was doing at the time. I think some changes ive made along the way are changing from 350 to 400, putting a small amount on the tip before hitting the wire, and maybe try coming in at more of an angle idk if that helps or not
Could I use an adjustable heat wood burner?
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!
What is the recommended wire size to use , 16 awg, 22 …
Very useful info
Nice tutorial💪, but you miss how to soldering xt60 to the Wire 😁 and to get out solder with Cob Wire😅
thank you so much
Thanks for the video
Hello sr, could work an USB solder 8w 400celsius with temp control?
this is so helpful
Really helpful and informative video man thanks learnt a lot 👍
I use the wick
What size off wire do jou need for soldering reciver ?
As someone who has done this a lot. In your intro. Your tip was pretty dirty and corroded. Clean and tin it well and keep it clean with tip cleaner! Otherwise looks great! If you notice your solder joint isn’t shiny and is dull the tip condition is why! Also make sure to use high quality 60/40 leaded rosin core! Kester is the way to go!
Good job
I’m a Tig welder but have oddly never soldered anything . I want to try a drone but realized I have no clue how to do this part
How'd it go? 😁
Thanks so much. I want to do a little bit of soldering on a broken minidrone but don’t want to break the bank. Any suggestions on what would be an acceptable soldering station? Do I really need a display that indicates temperature?
I would definitely recommend one with an adjustable temperature. Once you get better at soldering, you'll like having the ability to adjust the temperature higher so you can solder a little faster 👍

My bro got me a drone kit for xmas. It's a bit intimidating lol...
How'd it go? 😁
F or C?
Thank you so much 👌🏻
Ggreat tutorial, if your aged or have big glasseslol messin with ya mine just feel big.and you can afford a n electronic microscope there awesome helpful like the bluetak! i tryed a wooden board but it was useless plus dont tell my wife where it went, lol i just sanded off my mess shes cool. peace.
👏👏👏👍
