Thank you and thank you for the excellent questions. We get some very well thought out questions that are sent to us here and it makes our job easy. :-)
“Hey listen :) there’s a new Sheriff in town!! I’m here to regain control of the company that I’ve built.” Well put, you can be nice and friendly without being over friendly.
I am generally not the nice guy. I am this way with one client in particular and unfortunately they are the ones most likely to take advantage of us the most. When I first started out they were the one property management company that took me on and basically trained me how to do Property Management clean . I thought it was because they were so nice but come to find out it's because no one else would work for them... LOL. Long story short they are one of my older clients at this point. I don't get much work from them anymore because I had to put my foot down and stop agreeing to clean 3000 square foot turnovers for $150😲 .. It took me a really long time to tell them no because I always had a soft spot for the fact that they really kept my business afloat before I knew what my business was. So that's another thing if you don't know what you're offering you offer anything for any price to anyone. I'm sure that's a different video... LOL
Is it new construction? There's one property management company around here that are only offering 15 to 18 per hour for part-time hours no benefits while those self-employed are getting around $50 per person per hour
My partner installed a pre sheeted layout of table top tiles for a customers bathroom and a portion of the living room . . . We don't do that lol. Customer didn't pay us for a month. Used to give 50% off first time recurring clients, until people were saying it was recurring and then getting just one cleaning from us. Gave a discount to a customer and then complained the discount wasn't enough and then still have us 3$ less on the total bill. We're done with all that : ) Great video, this is just as important as how to actually clean a house. You can be the best cleaner but if you hate your job and keep getting taken advantage of, what's the point? Angela is a boss, if you haven't already . . . Subscribe.
This is good stuff! Love the practicality! I just started my own UA-cam channel on marketing a service business on some of your inspiration! Thanks Angela!!!
This video covers one of the biggest issues in the cleaning business. I believe in being fair, flexible and strong. Everyone wants top quality but for the cheapest they can get. Yet, I demand a fair price for top quality work. To this day I have never gotten a single complaint. Now, I realize this is rare but I strive for perfection every time. Do it right the first time and go above and beyond to satify the customer/client. I even refer /partner with other businesses to ensure customer satisfaction as best I can. I have boundaries/limits stated in contracts and agrrements. WizardWand "Creating Magical Moments In Your Life." Wanda Brown
I'm to nice with my house keeper.I need them to clean but I'm afraid I might be working them to much.I don't now what is too much and what is not enough.
You both need firm boundaries. "Here is what I'm paying for and what I expect." And you both need to agree on what it looks like when the job is finished. An endless stream of "to-do's" is exhausting to you and the house cleaners. Make a clear start and stop to the job. Everyone wins.
Incredible tips. If you've had your cleaning clients for some time and did not implement a contract/worksheet but want to implement that, what is the best way to go about that? Thank you
Isadora, I think of that as being the same type of thing as was discussed in the video. You're implementing a new policy. At many of the places I've worked, managers love implementing new policies. Could you imagine what it would be like if one of the companies that has been around for 130 years never changed their policies, with all the societal changes we've been through? So don't be afraid. Go ahead and send that memo that you have a new policy, and then stick with it!
I hope dear Angela you are in good health. I will try to have a walk each day. The problem is that my parents never gave love to me. They were always in competition with me. But I still can't understand why. My companions were also always compétitive with me like my parents and brother. Without support or love, I am now living a severe depression. I am going to walk, and clean. But I really thought I was not enough and worthy. Now I forgive my family and companions. But really why this competition ? Always. Each day. Why ?
+@corinnarose99 Hi and thanks for watching. The question about competition is a good one and it merits unpacking. When someone competes with you do you compete back? Are you and the other person playing the same game? I ask because if it seems someone is trying to “one up you” let that be a trigger to find why. Are they jealous of you? Are you sending a message that makes them feel like they have to posture to be more liked by you? I wonder what happen if you ignored the competitive behavior. In any event, keep me posted and let me know how it goes. You are an amazing person and deserve love and should not have to compete for it. I am sending you a big virtual hug. 🤗
Angela! Here's a problem that's been killing me. We not only clean houses but offices and car detailing. Most customers are okay with me in the office and auto, but because I'm a guy they don't want me in their house. Bonded, insured, background check all done. I have good reviews with my name. I understand it can be scary for women with a guy in the house and I get that "men don't clean as well as women" (I don't agree that men can't clean well, but . . .) Any advice? Or should I just let my female partner do houses and me office and auto because it works?
On the initial walkthrough with new customers, ask them if they are comfortable with a male housecleaner or if they need a female one. If they want a female one, fine, let them have what they want without a fuss. But at least ask the question so these people have to face up to their own beliefs!
I am currently cleaning for a very dirty scumbag who has not cleaned in 2 years, they seem to think I have not done enough work for the amount I have been there, they will be moved out by the end of the week and only want to pay me an extra $100. Based on online estimates they have seen, I did call one of the cleaners, explained what the condition was, she told me it would be double her price. I don't want to upset them but when I see how much $$ they have no problem wasting with other things, it upsets me. There is at least 8 hours of cleaning left. I told them I would do it for the before price, but now I don't want to go back for this little, how to explain??
I'm kind of a sucker on some jobs sometimes. Will admit. 🤭 I just had to raise my rates today, due to cost of operating- small increase, but we will see what happens. All of my clients are long term, so hopefully they'll be understanding.
Angela clean. Do you have a training class to train people how to start their on business . I need help getting started. I know you have many videos. I need not so many videos it get confusing

Not only in the work place but outside of work. Good to set boundaries in relationships otherwise you are the doormat.

Your Sheriff line reminded me of Woody in Toy Story. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
I’m a people pleaser by nature, and yes it has affected my business negatively at times.
It's great that you recognize this because it's an important step towards building healthy boundaries and reevaluating your worth👍

They are rapidly expanding with zero loyalty to anyone I know that as a renter for five years
You are right ❤
