Rex made me realize that the world is in desperate need of a 100% rye whiskey endorsed by Matthew McConaughey called "All Rye, All Rye, All Rye"
Agreed!
Sorry to be off topic but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account??
I was stupid forgot the password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Francis Alec instablaster ;)
I've come to adore the colossal clusterfuck that is the Titan intros.
Was not ready for the clanging balls animation. Completely caught off guard, and still dying of laughter. Hilarious, and wonderful job Fancy Dan! Cheers!
A tour of McLaughlin in the Pittsburgh suburb is terrific. One guy does it all from 100% corn. Column still. Self coopered barrels.
I just picked up rock some bourbon from my work. I got rock hill farms, 2 EH Taylor, 2 blantons gold, eagle rare, weller, Henry McKenna, and Elijah Craig Proof 136. I got lucky but I'm loving the bourbon out here in Kentucky. Love your channel.
First time catching the Titan footage. Epic.
I NEED this intro as a separate video to send to ALL my friends 😍
Just share this video with all of your friends and have them subscribe to this channel and become Magnificent Bastards themselves 😎🧔🏽🥃!!!!!!!
Daniel is correct about bartenders being a big part of the rye whiskey resurgence. I'm not sure about the "hipster" part, except where that group intersects with the cocktail fanatics that created events such as the "Tales of the Cocktail" annual thing in New Orleans.
Big fan guys! Love your insight and honest feedback
McLaughlin is mad indeed. He makes some stuff all over the map. The owner even cuts down his own trees to make all his own barrels! That is intense for such a small operation.
LOL.... great intro.... Thanks for what you do!
I live less than a mile from Sugar House Distillery in South Salt Lake, and they make amazing stuff! So happy to see them represented in the Whiskey Vault.
Them and Holy Stone are my favorite 👌
Hey brother, there is an area of the Salt Lake Valley called Sugarhouse. It use to house the state prison and then a sugar beet factory, now its full of hipsters, but dont hold that against them.
Just an aside for those who don't know, sugar house is a common name for businesses in Utah, along with intermountain, ___ valley, rocky mountain, high country, ect. It's an easy go to for people who can't decide on names for businesses
Best episode thus far. Old Forester 1920 is my favorite whiskey. You should do a $30-70 budget bourbon video. I want to see how it compares to the tribe's picks. Also you should review another favorite of mine which is the Koval bourbon. I've tried a few organic bourbons and this was the only one I thought was good enough to be worth the price.
Got home from a long day of work and damn near poured myself a drink sitting down to watch this video, and got the dry week reminder. Put it away and am now relying on you guys being funny to help me relax from the day. Don't let me down.
Fancy Dan killed it this episode. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I am an Aussie surrounded by eucalyptus trees. When I have a cold I use eucalyptus lozenges and eucalyptus chest rub. I never get a eucalyptus note when nosing a whiskey. Maybe it is a note that my nose has acclimatized to.
im from SD so seeing this as a "rare" whiskey is pretty dope. i can enjoy this whenever. puts it into perspective.
It’s phenomenal dude. I live in La Mesa.
This is an awesome distillery. Whenever possible, please consume their products. Amazing stuff.
By the way, they keep pronouncing my name wrong. It’s a long A.
Sugar House Rye... from SLC, send it all the way down to Hurricane Utah, DABC says you can’t find it in Layton or Roy.
It’s funny I found the MD Devil’s Juice review while looking for a review of 3799. I’m loving 3799 and never had the Devil’s Juice. I was disheartened thinking they would never try the 3799, so I’m happy to find this! It really is damn delicious!
I love the conversation on rye. I started with and loved whiskey but then spent a long time investigating cocktails and it brought me back to whiskey through rye
Just wanted to let you guys know Kim McLaughlin is a craft master! His baby barrel bourbon is even better than the 3799. And he has a Burlington that's a toasted apple wood and maple mix that's to die for over ice!
My new toast shall be "may your shelves always be blessed with a box of whiskey"
Hehe, considering how Fancy Dan installed a shelf, we could also do "may your shelves always be blessed with a level" :P Way to go, Slanty Dan!
Hey guys! i was all over the place with glen scotia double cask.. im getting brine heavy and vanilla. after a 10 min brine and pear. its great on its own but with a bourbon its tasty... about a 1/4 to 1.
i used grand dad! its always good but the saltiness opened the flavores for me
Sugarhouse is a suburb in Salt Lake City. I live there lol. Good to see yall trying our brew
Did you mean sugarhouse is a suburb in salt lake city? Cuz I'm pretty sure you can't have a town inside of a city
@@ascendedvegeta yes. Its too early to type lol
Came here to clarify the same thing. The distillery has very little to do with shenanigans with sugar.
I bet they are putting hops in a muslin bag in a vapor basket above the pot of the still to elicit those essential oils from the hops to instill flavor.
Hi you Magnificant bastards, I miss you guys so much during dry week!! I understand it’s necessary for you and you deserve your own time every now and then but I’m just addicted seeing you guys daily!!! Why don’t you taste Thea or coffee in the week we don’t drink? I mean I drink in dry week but for the real die hard tribe members why not a tea tasting? 😊 I love you guys, sincerely! See you next Monday love Tjerk (it’s a Dutch name and yes it sucks to pronounce but try :) love you ❤️
Rex's hair is growing back nicely.
Laughed way too hard at the balls in the distance part. You guys are comedic geniuses
Love your channel. thanks to y'all whisky is my new favorite weekend beverage. just bought a Laphroaig quarter cask after discovering it on this channel. also have an ardbeg 10 on the shelf. Have tried a few others and look forward to continuing the journey. Have a good weekend!
Sugarhouse is the name of the area of Salt Lake the distillery is in.
Recently had a Jack Daniels and ginger beer and it was a weird experience. Took my first sip and my first reaction was I don't like it but then every mouthful after that I didn't taste either the whiskey or the ginger beer
I think that sending the vault Black Box whiskey should become a thing more people do. You guys should never run out. That way, Rex can mooch it all he wants.
Never seen you two so giddy. Gold panel of rare whiskies.
Have you guys tried the Sugarhouse bourbon? It is trial worthy. BTW, Sugarhouse is a suburb of Salt Lake City, and gets it's name from it's sugar beet production history. Now it's a hipster centric area of town.
Gentlemen, I just had a "whiskey flight" consisting of two BT store picks, a RR store pick (can you sense a pattern?), EBBS, MM RC6, and a Balcones Rye -- then seeing the "TITAN OF WHISKEY" animation for Patrick Kohn.... Dudes, experiencing THAT in this THIS delightfully-inebriated state was one of the MOST-METAL EXPERIENCEs of all time!!! THANK YOU!!!!! 8^D
I live 5 minutes from Sugarhouse distillery, it’s named after the Sugarhouse district it’s distilled in. Sugar house is the art district of Salt Lake City.
So if you get the chance review Eight shires colonial distillery bourbon. It’s made from a colonial recipe as are all of their spirits. Located in Williamsburg Virginia. Just released the bourbon about a year ago and I love it personally
Have a pleasant dry week all.
I’ve had a dry week for 1095 weeks give or take a few days. Tomorrow is my 21’st and I’m READY
OMG you just did the Sugarhouse Rye I sent also.
Are you an SLC MB?
Also an SLC MB. I’ve been thinking about sending sugarhouse in so many times. Glad someone finally did it.
I picked up this Sugarhood Rye after the episode. It's really good. I'm normally a bourbon drinker but found I really liked the complexity of this! Not your normal rye.
I was a bartender at a place where we used the rye for a few of our cocktails and I liked it a lot. More than their malt and bourbon and I typically don’t favor rye.
Had a dream last night I broke a vault window with a golf ball. The hobbit was furious.
SUCH LARGE BALL!
Sugar House is a city 5 mins south of Salt Lake City. I live here and I didn't know we had that. Time to buy one. Yeah.
New spelling of Whiskey.... Whiksey :) Love it all.
Why did Daniel forget that you can have a 100% corn mash bourbon? Even if it's over 80% corn, if it's aged in new charred oak it's a bourbon.
Best dry week intro ever
Del Bac is the only thing I enjoy about Arizona.
idk why they abhor the devils juice, its the best thing they make and taste absolutely delicious
and my grandma thinks so too
I love how ever first sip Rex has, he always literally takes a step back. It's great!
Now I want to try Rye whisky, anyways thumbs up boys 😁👍
What other easily accessible whiskies has a banana/banana bread taste to it? I love banana but have never experienced it in a whiskey and would like to rectify this missed adventure
I think I saw someone else mention it, but Sugar House is a neighborhood in Salt Lake City. It’s actually called that because it was part of the sugar processing industry in Salt Lake. It was processed from sugar beets, which were grown all over the valley.
I've been trying to figure out if the Titan video versions of Daniel & Rex are anything like Sanda & Gaira from The War of the Gargantuas. If they are which of the two would eat people?
Just joined the tribe and I was wondering if guys could do a review on O.Z. Tyler bourbon. They are new to the bourbon business and I work for one of the contractors that have got this place up and running would really appreciate you guys reviewing this bourbon
Could you guys maybe make an top list with maritime whiskeys?
The cask Strength Sugar House Rye is even better
How long has that been avliable? Tisha picked this up last Thanksgiving, I don't remember seeing that one there.
Caleb Rhoades I got it last year just before the fall. I had stop by seeing James and he had it out to try. So freaking good on ice as well. I have a group on Facebook that I did a review on it called “Whiskey Grilling Time!” Check it’s out.
I was just there today and picked up your first recommendation. I’m from Austin and will be back the week of August 17th. Going to pick up this one. Let me know if you want something else. Picked up the white labeled malted rye.
This the best "cut back from the bottle" commercial eva. Lol. Let's get ready for dry week.
Hi guys, I wonder did you ever tried Cleveland Black Reserve o other whiskey that is made on pressure or ultrasound technology. I mean whiskey that is make in one day without aging?
I'm just giving honors to a senior gentlemans' birthday (somewhere in 80's) with a bottle Balantine's. Cheers to you too guys!
Love the titan animation still!
What's your favorite whiskey/whiskeys for an old fashioned
Once I'm able to go out in public without all sorts of insane pandemic madness, I'm going to head to one of my local distilleries and get both an aged and an unaged bottle of their smoked corn whisky. It's very clean, not super subtle or insanely complex, but still has a really nice "bourbon that fell out of a Scotch tree" vibe that I find intriguing. Also might have to get myself a new bottle of it as a component for a smokey martini.
I just went through a few whiskeys which I had gifted to my father some 20-30 years ago, as he wants to gift them back to me. Turns out one of them is retailing for 700 Euros online :) I like to remember I had paid maybe 60-90 German Marks for it back in the day. Is it possible to sell stuff like that on Ebay?
Anyone know why we’ve not seen a post from the Whiskey Vault/Tribe crew in a week+ ?
Sugarhouse is the name of a neighborhood in the central east area of Salt Lake City. It's the hipster area of town as far as I care.
McLaughlin does honestly call that previous bottle "Devils' Juice #5"
Cheers to you Isaac🥃
Sugar House is a neighborhood in SLC. For future reference.
Wait I thought you didn"t like the Del Bac 2017 winter release, and I quote "liquid smoke that you buy off the grocery shelf", "a wild ride", something "you sneak onto unsuspecting newcomers".... Unless those are good things... and I am just misunderstanding you.
Ok, so...how long did it take for your faces not to twist into weird geometric shapes when drinking or sampling different whisk(e)ys? Various proofs.
So the 2019 Del Bac Winter Release was their Dorado Whiskey aged in Bookers barrels. It's delicious.
Woo boy do you guys ever need a dry week. Titan, benevolent, magnificent what are we doing?
Lmao are you new here? You sound surprised
Ascended Vegeta nope not new, you just didn’t get my humor. Cheers man.
What's up guys, i start to follow you few days ago and iam trying to learn more about whiskey, also trying to use to the flavors, iam a whiskey noob but iam definetly trying to improve my knowledge, iam from Brazil and here the whiskey options are very limited and expensive if compared to USA i start my journey on whiskey two days ago trying Grand Old Parr 12y, but i only could taste alcohol and ketone, couldn't identify any of other flavors on it, you guys have any other soft option for whiskey beginners like me?
Ty a lot i really apreciate your job, try to help me plz! Sry about my bad english.
Thanks for the videos, wisdom and vibe. One question guys: have you heard, tasted, thought of reviewing Ha'Penny Irish Whiskey???
So whisky has been merged with the likes of goon. My Australian side is proud...and unhealthily intrigued. What a way to kick off dry week.
can you review canadian club 100 percent rye whiskey
Happy Friday to you all
I like the visual!
In this episode, Rex and Dan inch a step closer to realizing what I've known for years: San Diego County deserves its own regional classification, just like Texas. Bonus points if they ever manage to catch that special San Diego lemongrass/ginger note that every. single. whiskey (and rum). distilled and aged in San Diego County has.
Ya know, I haven’t thought of it before, but you’re exactly right! That note is there... subtle but it’s definitely there. I live in La Mesa.
FYI - Pewdiepie did another video on whiskey! Would love to see y'all comment on it!
Dude the intro is awesome
Fellas, please do more “noob” videos. I find them super helpful.
My first exposure to rye whiskey was through song, “Rye Whiskey” by the Punch Brothers and if you aren’t a fan there’s something wrong with you. Happy dry week!
I've never heard of the Punch Brothers. The actual name of the song is "Jack of Diamonds" and it is an old traditional folk song about gambling. Blind Lemon Jefferson made it popular in the 1920s but the song or one similar to it actually dates back to before the Civil War. County singer Tex Ritter performed the song in the movie "Song for the Gringo" in 1936. It contains the lyrics "Rye Whiskey, Rye Whiskey, Rye Whiskey I cry, I'll drink that Rye Whiskey till the day that I die..."
Damn i would like to visit you guys and the vault. Too bad i will never have the funds to fly over from Belgium, Europe
amazing episode guys. would love to meet you and just talk and drink. also rye sounds more appetizing for me. btw glenrothes 10 yr was like my "eye" opener maybe?
What do I need to send to be part of an episode? Love to join for a day.
Dry week is the time to plan out a day each week for pot stilled whiskeys.
This is a whole episode of Rex trying to get a word in edgewise
Y’all keep pronouncing my name wrong 😂😂 it’s Schadler... long A. Like window shade and just put a LER on the end.
It’s okay. I forgive y’all.
Just catching up on videos at the end of my deployment. Hopefully coming home sooner rather than later.
🥃🥂🍻 cheers magnificent Bastards!
You two had me laughing so hard😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
In visiting the Del Back again, did Daniel EVER ask his Tucson question? It's been eating at me since!
Hey, Rex & Daniel, how are you able to maintain the integrity of your palate after so many tastings? For me personally, after one pour my tongue starts to fizzle out and get numbed. Is that just an experience thing?
Sugarhouse is a town that has been absorbed into Salt Lake City
I'm an avid fan of the channels even as someone who can't drink Whiskey and I had a thought: during dry week, why not review zero proof Whiskeys or Whiskey alternatives?
Question.. In the podcast you mentioned an Alabama whiskey. What Alabama whiskey did you guys have? I haven't seen a review!
Have you guys ever thought about doing a discord server. They are free and it's a cool place for everyone to share whiskey pics and talk. I would love to help if you decide to do one .
LOL those bartenders you're talking about ARE the hipsters, and thank goodness for them.
