For those who don't know, the power section (into the effects return) of the Orange Super Crush 100 is identical to the pedal baby (sans eq). It was a big selling point for me when I bought the SC100 combo 2 years ago. Careful though, the SC100 might just sound good enough in its own right to make you drop your modeler.
I bought IR-X and just found a used Orange 412 in my area to buy. Planning to get the Pedal Baby to complete the rig. I’d be running IR out to FOH as well. You love your setup?
@briantost7125 I do. However, I switched to the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 700. The Orange Peadal Baby 100 added too much of the "Orange" tone, but I don't like that particular color for guitar tones. The SD PS790 is a pure neutral tone with a 3-band EQ. If you like or don't mind the Orange Pedal Baby coloring the IR-Xs tones, then it's a great setup.
Nice setup. I have Carvin Ts100, rocktron velocity 300, peavey 50/50, ADA micro tube 100, 200, Art sla 300, and crown powerbase 3 in a rack. I want variety. Lol
i load down my tube amps into a captor by two notes and line out to this ..cheap mans fryette power station ..but it sounds amazing ..also works really well with helix ..im surprised this product is not more widely used its crazy
I thought of this exact idea just now which is why I’m watching the video! Turning a 15 watt amp into a 100 watt! Is there a big change in sound quality that you’ve noticed?
This comment is coming in late, but I'm using the Seymour Duncan power stage 700 through a 4X 12. I know it's a little bit of overkill, but you never have to worry about keeping up with anybody else. Would like to look into getting a tube powered amp, though, to see if it sounds a bit more organic. I'm having to EQ the power stage a little bit more than I'd like to. Sounds a little sterile. ( With that said, it is running four gt75s , which I'm not really a fan of anymore)
So we dont need to make the effects go after the "real cab" right? just close the cab block and replace the studio monitor i use with the poweramp+ cab Do you think its a worthy upgrade from using the studio monitors at home ? i only care about better experience when playing ;D Also, from whtever experience or research u might have, would u reccomend the baby or other tube power amp or should i try /go with the seymour powerstage >?
I've tried orange pedal baby with a modeler (fractal FM9). It doesn't work at gig volume. Not enough punch. The best configurtion I've tried is to send he sigbal in the return of a valve amp (50W).
So you can’t turn off the power amp section on QC from what I know. You have to use the full amp block just turn offf the cabs. Some modelers allow you to use preamps such as the helix.
Well… I wouldn’t. You would need some sort of load box and speaker emulator. You would be better off plugging one output into this for stage volume and one into a mixing console. But it’s 100 watts at 8 ohms and 70 watts at 16 ohms
I have a question. So if I want to use a cab on stage to monitor my sound I should turn off the cab simulation. I get that. But I also want to run out of my QC to FOH which I need my cab simulation on. How do you do that with the QC? Thanks in advance
Excellent question! You would simply rout two signals in the quad. You can do this two ways. You can run a “dual cab” rig and rout them to separate outs and one on the lines has the cab sim off for the cab and on for FOH The other way is two have two identical rigs set on two separate lines to different outputs. Depending on if you are using scenes or stomp mode you may want to do one or the other. Did that make sense??
Hi.. good video that talks about the same rig that I use also. But I have the Pod Go instead of Quad Core and as Cabinet I have an Harley Benton 2x12 with vintage celestions...However I see that for me is very challenging anytime I go to play in a different spot to get the same best sound that I reached the last time after spending hours on settings...So probably a video tutorial with Pod go and Pedal baby and cab could be also cool :-)))...thank u....you are great anyway..like your playing
I must be doing something wrong here. Every amp I’ve tried sounds VERY thin and i’ts not cutting through.. Got both the pedal baby and the QC running trough a Mesa rectifier 4x12.. any help?
Ok. Are you starting with the treble and bass in the middle position (12 o’clock) and crafting your tone from there and then fine tuning with the bass and treble? That would be my advice to start with.
This is the only way I run modelers, using a power amp into a real cabinet. I prefer tube power amps and use the Mooer 20w Tube Engine. I am not a CAB sim or IR fan, as a matter of fact I hate them.
I would love to see a blind a/b test on this. A LOT of audio perception is based around confirmation bias. I'm not saying you're wrong just that quite often if you put it down to a blind test a lot of these things disappear and they are actually confirmation bias. Lee Anderton described this in an early Kemper video. He wanted the Kemper to sound different because he loves tube amps and finds modelling unromantic and the fact is that purely from an audio perspective there is more variation between units of the same amp than a good capture and its relative amp. I wonder if the same applies here. I have both a Marshall SV20h and a Stomp I use with the Pedalbaby - both setups into a Zilla cab so no skin in the game.
Yea. I definitely rambled in this a bit. But I think you are the first one to say something about it. I’ll take the info and try to get better. And if you watch some recent videos I think I have. BUT I never even thought to A/B since there’s no situation where you’d run the cab sim with a cab.
@@jimmyfranklinthanks for the vid! Leaning towards the Orange vs Seymour. Currently running an FM9 into a Mesa 2:ninety, which is glorious but need something lighter. Oddly I keep amp and cab sims on!! When off the sound is super brittle. I think the orange would be more amp like than the SD. Class A input.

Does that mean you can just use it as a pedal baby?
@@1-derfulpieceThat's what it sounds like. You run into the effects return and it's a pedal baby 100... minus the EQ.
@@adamyeager hell yeah !! That’s awesome!!!!
I use a powerstage 170 into either 1 or 2 orange ppc112’s lets me adjust my power volume with my feet!
Let me know if you’ve tried this method BELOW 👇🏼
I have an orange 4x12, sold my or100 and got a kemper stage. Definitely getting a pedal baby to bridge the gap :)
Perfect demo of a simplistic setup. I'll probably do this with a hx stomp
It’s SOOOOO easy with the HX Stomp. I used that with this so many times.
I have just bought a Orange Pedal Baby so I can use the Friedman IR-X through a live 2x12 on stage and send the line out to FOH.
I’m literally thinking of doing the same. Got a Friedman IR-X but currently running it through a powercab.

Power amp modeling on or off with the Pedal Baby?
Awesome video! Was it difficult to install v30s into your orange vertical cab?

Can I connect it directly to the mixing console or di box instead of connect to matching speaker????
If yes, then from which output,
