This commercial is great. Like a time capsule of the theatre scene. Pearl Bailey-She was so well known and young peoiple would say WHO? Thanks for posting.
Something lost and forgotten. I undoubtedly saw this as a kid in the 80's and my memory did not retain this very well. Not one of the things that got imprinted. But social media certainly rekindled enough pieces indicating that this was scene and heard. As memories goes, certain things that predated this have a more lasting impression. And here's the interesting thing. Our generation certainly experienced sights and sounds on TV. Who thought we would see them again. Commercials. TV movies, et cetera. It's something future generations may not experience in such a way. Pleasant memories.
Jiltedin2007 Yeah but i find Los Angeles more boring after staying there about 12 times because my relatives lived near there. i've been to both New York and Chicago twice. i found them much more exciting. Los Angeles never seems to have that special kind of soul in it that New York and Chicago had every time i've stayed in Los Angeles. Take away the Ocean Beaches Los Angeles is as boring as hell. i find Phoenix, Arizona even more exciting.
I adore this great classic commercial with its classic stars! Why has this place lost all its glitter? Let's bring back all the great artists & clean up the politicans. Who doesn't love New York?
I'm looking through these ads having seen an" American Masters" on Marvin Hamlisch. I'm sure Robert Klein and Lucie Arnaz appeared in one behind "They're Playing Our Song."
This is REAL vintage New York, oh how I miss it!!!

Yes Cher,Carol Channing and the various other stars really make the grade in this very ad.

Carol Channing 00:14 has outlived Gregory Peck 00:07 and Ol' Blue Eyes 00:56
Living in Los Angeles, isn't New York cost of living twice as much?
