This video shares the best 2 shoulder stretches for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Thinking about stretching like strength training and using compound positions that target a pattern of movement is much more effective. The hanging cobra covers shoulder flexion and thoracic extension while the German hang covers shoulder extension. Unless you have specific flexibility goals like the bridge, these two will have you covered. Try hanging for 30-60s and perform 2-3 sets. They could be used as an ideal upper body cool-down or as part of your daily flexibility.

Hanging is definitely underrated. Love these drills as much as the shoot 🎥
As soon as I think of something I need, you make a video on it ❤
Thanks.
I’ve got rings in my back garden and I’ve been meaning to try that 2nd one
This was great! Thank you Tom for your clear and informative videos
Excellent video, many thanks!
Love your videos Tom, another gem.
Found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching, thank you for the knowledge you share 🙏🏽
Great video Tom thanks❤❤
Wow awesome stretches. Feel like am stretching bits that never had an opportunity before. Cheers bro 😎🙌🏼
just what I needed. Thanks a lot 🙂
Great video, definetely going to try these hanging variations, rn i just do normal but its not really a mobility challenge for me at all now
Love this, thanks! It would be great if you could cover something on posture correction. I have rounded shoulders, so I guess this is also great for that. Thanks for making such great videos!
Both these are gold for it
2:33 great multi-tasking 😂
Lmaoo i didnt notice
perfect time
Thank you very much for the video! Will you be doing a series of videos on compound stretches? Really hoping so!
Sure thing, seems pretty useful
Thank You very much for this
I have been trying to perfect the posture Baddha Padmasana
This is Exactly what I needed
Divine Synchronicity is Amazing
Really like this concept of compound stretches ..never really thought about it 😅. I hope you jeep posting videos on this topic. Would you say these two cover all the upper body main needs like in the way the bench press and row do in strength?
I need to watch this again. I was too busy watching Molly!! 💕😂🥰 She's gorgeous. I promise to pay attention to you next time Tom! 💪🤓
Absolutamente Love it , going to my basement now to try them 💪🏽
I'd be interested in what kind of volume and frequency to program these stretches.
My workplace has bars across the skylight in the toilet area, I assume to frustrate escape attempts, but they do make excellent shoulder hanging equipment whilst hiding in the loo.
Do you have any recommendations around running "duck footed"... is there a particular stretch or exercise we can do to fix that?
Hip internal rotation
Yup, hanging cured my shoulder pain ♡
any alternative to rings ? eg squat rack and barbell set up at sternum height, would that work with these stretches ?
Exactly! Smith machine works very well for the easy adjustment.
I love hanging, but any stretch resembling the cobra or upward dog just hurts my lower back and doesn't give any stretching sensation at all.
Can this be done from a bar, rather than rings?
absolutely, anything as long as you can fix the hands
👋 Will it be possible not to get injured if, let's say, do these stretches every day for about 30 seconds? What do you recommend?
Strength is your best prevention for injury risk
Which of these better targets flexibility for handstand?
cobra
Any tips for deltoid spasms when holding arms overhead?
Like cramping type thing?
@@jonahcarlisle9572 yup when I hold it either parallel to my chest, or overhead. It's my side and rear deltoid in particular and then it'll spasm for a bit upon me putting my arm back down
Isn't German hang basically the endpoint of skin the cat? Or is it harder to get more flexible in that position?
yup, skin the cat would be the dynamic version of this more passive position
Can this be done on a bar rather than rings?
absolutely
Look like stretches that can do more harm than good to beginners or people with arm issues already. What do you think?
Adjust the intensity to suit your ability. These are all very scalable
@@BodyweightWarrior will try them carefully. Thanks for the prompt response
Hearing your voice without royalty free lo-di hip hop playing in the background is very weird 😂
🤷♂️
cheapest way to set up rings in an apartment with flimsy doorframes?
Doorway pull-up bar is relatively inexpensive.
bro i say doorframes weak@@wayne60618
Either doorframe pull up bar (use a wedge rather than clip for weak doorframes) or find your ceiling joists and put anchors into them. Only issue with the doorframe is that if you’re tall, it’s not going to work
I wash myself with a rag on a stick
Its even more painfull than it looks
It’s kind of ridiculous you giving out shoulder advice given how often you’ve injured your own
I'm just honest, injuries happen. When you push what your body can handle, there is always a risk. Professional sports teams with the best physios, coaches etc still get injuries
Experience is the best teacher. Managing injuries can teach you a whole different perspective on training.
