Dandelion Loops

- Paul brought his video camera over and we ran it through my VCR at the television while recording the result onto VHS tape. Introduced a dandelion into the mix for some nice interference. Towards the end of the video we started messing with settings on the tv (color, brightness, contrast, and tint) and got some neat results.
Music included was recorded from analog synth directly to vhs tape while visuals were fed from the camera.
Don’t watch if you have problems with flashing lights!! #seizurewarning

this is what it feels like to have worms in your brain, and trust me, I know from expreinfinchuuhhh.. fff .. fffwwaahhhh - . guuuh.... ugh.... nnnn......
hope you’re okay!!
This was produced completely by feedback without any external input? Thats soo cool, I gotta try this with my old vidicon tube camera! Analog video is just the coolest thing ever
Just a classic camera shot at television type loop. Played with exposure and the tv settings throughout. And there’s a dandelion in there. Thank you for watching!
LOVE this sort of experiment so much!!! Thank you for sharing :)
It’s always fun cooking up stuff with Paul, he’s a living legend.
oh wow, this is incredible! youtube recommended me this with no prior knowledge, how does it work? im interested in trying something of the sorts.
Connect an analog camera and an analog tv and point the camera at the tv. I use a VCR in-between to capture the footage onto VHS tape. And play with lights and exposure settings. Also place objects in the path of the feedback loop to create interference. That’s what you see partway into the video when i taped a dandelion to the television. It creates something to play with essentially. Hope this helps!!
The visuals are great, but I really enjoyed the sound track too. Just put my headphones on and was disappointed every time there was a commercial and very disappointed when the track was over.
Thanks for listening! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very cool. would be interested to know your video set up and equipment
Thank you!! Really simple setup for this one. My buddy paul brought his sony handicam over and we ran that into my VCR and into a CRT television for the feedback loop. While that was recording i was running an analog synth from my mixer into the VCR (via quarter inch to RCA converter cables). Recorded the finished VHS tape on the tv with my phone and thats the video you’re seeing
Reminds me of spontaneous pattern formation in animal markings.
Maybe this is how God made us
Vraiment sympa.
Merci beaucoup!!
This made motion sick in about 30 seconds
take a dramamine next time and really go for it, you will be rewarded with thirty minutes of the most exquisite feedback loops known to man, courtesy of Paul. Thanks Paul
SEIZURE WARNING
Yessss my guy. That’s really just you transcending though
pretty cool
Thanks. We think you’re pretty cool for watching!
What kind of synth were you using?
Thanks for the vid!
Thanks for checking it out! We had a good time making it. The synth is a Farfignoogan 3008-d
They didnt make a lot
I can’t find any info on that synth. Do you have any more info, like the year or country of manufacture? This is super cool btw!
@superdude512 thank you for checking it out! It was made by a now defunct company called Mother Moon back in the late 70’s. They actually had a base on the moon ;)
Just kidding. It’s a Moog Matriarch
@@paxson2000 loollll
