I can honestly say that switching from my Samsung to ZV1 was the best thing ever! The quality of the footage is so much better and when you get used to using your gimbal it's not that much of a pain. And I don't drop my phone anymore because I need to pick it up while recording ^^
I fully agree. Switching from iPhone to ZV1 was best decision. I really like the quality of video and all the features included. Well done Sony. I still use iPhone from time to time but I feel very uncomfortable with its limitations.
The Osmo Mobile 3 is the real hero here. I have an S10 but my footage doesn't look anything like this just because I lacked a gimballed mount. So moral of the story imo is get the 120$ upgraded mount for your phone and call it day! (Sadly that mount doesn't also act as a tripod so there's a needed extra piece of kit but still not bad!
We've been thinking about getting the ZV1. But like you, we like the convenience of just being able to crank out your phone and start taking videos. Plus, you always have your phone with you which is awesome. I like the ZV1's ability to have blurred background and quick focus. However, not sure if the additional expense justifies it since we already have the s10. Great video!
Thank you I'm happy you like it! I agree with you plus ZV1 doesn't shoot in 4k 60 fps.. having a 40% slowmotion in nice and crispy 4k is a massive help for b-roll..
Image quality wise, ZV-1. More convenient, mobile phone. I'm watching from bigger screen and obviously seen the differences. Mobile phone footages look digitally sharp and grainy even though it uses processing power to have better dynamic range. I have both iPhone 12 and ZV-1 and I think they are compliment each other well.
Yes that's definitely true.. ZV1 has a bigger sensor.. the main problem i have with ZV1 is lack of 4k 60 fps.. it would be great if they released mkII version with that feature.
@@UrbanGardenbyRithy That would be the perfect vlogging camera.. that would let you settle.. and they don't want that :D the want us to buy new "almost perfect" stuff every year :D
I've been shooting everything in full auto.. both Samsung and the Sony ZV1 this time because I wanted to test what's better for like first time users..
I have s10 and I want to switch to 12 Pro.. s10 camera is alright but lack of 4k 60 in every camera and lack of the apps I need that work only IOS is a huge disadvantage to me. I don't recommend Samsung phones for filmmakers only iPhone.
@@KK-VLOG thanks I am also thinking about switching to the iPhone 12 Mini. If you had to choose between iphone and sonny ZV-1 which would be your first choice?
@@KK-VLOG yea ZV-1 and iPhone Mini BOTH recoard only at 4K 30FPS. That's why it's hard to pick one over the other for me. Which would you go with? And why?
@@USPunjabi So If you want better optics, way better lowlight performance, and better built in microphone go for the Sony Zv1, if your priority is portability, convenience, lightweight gimbal setup, shooting in very reliable auto mode, water, dust and impact resistance (In a case of course) go for Iphone 12 mini. In summary... ZV1 better quality, Iphone more freedom and convenience. IT comes down to your style of filming.. is more stationary and indoors or is it more outdoor action in difficult weather conditions? :)
Yes and no :) ZV1 is a very nice camera: bigger sensor, better lowlight, flip out screen, good optics.. i love all that. Unfortunately ZV1 doesn't shoot in 4k 60fps which is a huge disadvantage and a deal braker for many people. Also for me personally zv1 was supposed to be a secondary lightweight pocket size camera for everyday carry and smartphone is way more convenient for that particular use. Instead of using ZV1 i could put my a6500 with light kit lens on the same small gimbal and it would demolish the zv1.. however for the everyday use i want something extremely convenient. For example phone can be used in the rain it can get covered in sand then you can just rinse it with water and nothing is gonna happen. On the other hand one windy day at the beach can ruin the ZV1 when that extending zoom lens will suck loads of sand and dust inside of the Camera. But don't get me wrong.. i think that Sony ZV1 is a great piece of equipment.. just not for every application and its not a black and white situation :)
@@migdafig9213 If you are starting ZV1 + Gimbal (Zhiuyn Crane m2 is great for zv1) would be perfect for you because you don't need to invest in any lenses with the zv1. I think there is a chance that in the near future Sony will give us a new APSC sensor body.. some a6600 successor like a cheaper apsc version of Sony a7s3.. and that combined with sigma 18-35 1.8 will be an ultimate camera a perfect balance of quality convenience and cost :) until then you can't go wrong with ZV1.. my only problem with ZV1 is lack of 4k 60.. because I love to use it because you are getting the crispness of the 4k with the smoothness of 40% slowmotion.. and that make every shot way more stable and cinematic looking... if they would make ZV1 mk2 with "10 bit 4k 60 fps" I would swap my smartphone for a Nokia 3210 and never look in that direction again 🤣 but I think you will be happy with zv1.. the one I'm testing in this vlog belongs to my girlfriend and she is extremely happy with this camera and she makes youtube as well.

What gimbal are you using ?
For the phone I am using DJI OSMO Mobile 3 for Sony ZV1 i use Zhiyun Crane M2 and my main gimbal for Sony a6500 is DJI Ronin S :)
You can check the bottom left corner of the video to see if it's filmed with Samsung s10 or Sony ZV1 :)

In some aspects it is better for sure.. however It don't shoot in 4k 60 fps and that is a massive disadvantage :(
