In addition to what Karl said about Japanese intros going so hard. A lot of Japanese anime are made for, or funded by the TV networks in Japan who just so happen to also own a lot of the major record labels in Japan. So they have wide access to all these bands with upcoming albums to choose from, and because of this they get both cross promotion, but in addition the company gets to produce it at a fraction of what it would cost for a network in the UK or US to do the same with a named band.
"Here is a mysterious person in the background" Oh, so are you going to introduce them later in the video? "Nah". That is one of the most Fact Fiend shits I've seen and I love it XD
I didn't know about his other origin for his powers where he absorbed ambient energy. That would actually make him way better because he could endure things like energy attacks like bishop. It would also make more sense for his brothers who have similar absorption abilities so it would line up better why they would be resistant to those.
It was originally that his body absorbed solar radiation. He could use his powers at night, though they were diminished because some solar radiation was always reaching the surface of the Earth. His powers would only be rendered useless when he was deep underground or in a shielded room where no solar radiation could reach him. It was also explained in the comic why he couldn't control his powers. He suffered brain damage as a boy when he was forced to strap a parachute to himself and his brother Alex when the plane that they were flying in with their parents severely malfunctioned and were forced to bail out of. The parachute strap slammed into the side of his head, which caused serious brain damage and a blood clot. The surgery to save his life also removed a portion of his brain and severely limited his ability to control his powers. As a result his powers would always go at full force without the assistance of the special ruby quartz lenses. Alex Summers, whose code name is Havok, can fire kinetic blasts from his hands and he has much finer control of his powers. For a time Havok was the leader of the U.S. government-backed mutant team, X-Factor.
@@oldeskul Honestly the original reason he can't control his powers is pretty stupid. In a world with super genius tech experts, geneticists, telepaths, mutant healing abilities, and magic Cyclops never learned to control his powers because of a concussion of all things? I really think the writers are super lazy with the character.
@@DreamStepper It was more than just a concussion. A concussion is caused when your brain gets jostled around inside your cranium, bangs against the inside of your skull and causes some swelling. What Scott suffered was more serious than that. Of course Forge did develop some tech that had the ability to completely mitigate Cyclops' powers. Of course he also an energy pistol that could temporarily switch off Rogue's power. The lazy writing was Xavier knowing that could help Cyclops and Rogue control their powers and not reach out to ask for their help.
My point is that plenty of mutants have recovered from worse. In the current storyline Cyclops had his mind transferred to a cloned body which in theory should've given him total control of his powers if the writers are paying heed to the origin.
You not only included the story about getting tricked and hit in the balls but also included the video. Not a lot of guys are big enough men to do that. Props Karl (Genuine)

Constant pressure and responsibilities, plus shit going wrong at any opportunity would definitely turn most people into a wet blanket so people hate him for being too realistic emotionally
That's an interesting comparison: Who's cooler between Cyclops and Wolverine, based on their powers. It reminds me of a question I went around asking people in college: Which is the more impressive creation, between the TARDIS and the Delorean? I say that the Delorean is a vastly more impressive creation, because it was created by a random human scientist, in his garrage, while the TARDIS was created by the construction division of a race of aliens that have reached the far end of their technological curve; You would expect a civilization like that to have technology like that, so the fact that they do isn't really that noteworthy. The Delorean was created based on a dream an old guy had, after he hit his head; The fact that he got any kind of working product is totally mind blowing. The situation with Wolverine and Cyclops is similar; Cyclops is cooler, because he has to deal with more limitations. Wolverine is never going to die, so there's significantly reduced risk to him, compared to Cyclops. If Wolverine succeeds at something, it's not impressive because I didn't seriously think there was any real chance of his failure. When Cyclops succeeds at something, I think it's a more impressive feat, because the deck wasn't completely stacked in his favor.
Cyclops brother can fly with his power...Cyclops can't focus it like that...also as a teen with the X-Men he trained blindfolded because his glasses constantly get knocked off...Cyclops is a beast in the comics.
This gets more confusing with the “punch dimension” when you consider consider different canons, in X-Men Evolution, there’s an episode where some machine “evolves” mutants to their prefect/final forms. This is used on Scott and he is able to open his eyes without the energy coming out, so he can control an entire dimension at will it seems now
for one He was always supposed to do that, but because of an injury he was unable to, and for two it is a lot easier to control your front door than it is to control the universe. he was rendered able to choose when the portal to the punch dimension is open rather than relying on his eyelids or ruby lenses.
For me the best opening of a Superhero animated show was X-Men the Animated Series on Fox back in the 90's. No spoken or sang words, just pure adrenaline-pumping instrumentals
An intro that always stuck with me was Batman Beyond (Of the Future) due to it being all instrumental to set the atmosphere. Also favourite X-men for me was Shadowcat, passing through solid objects and how she used it to mess with robotic enemies or disable security systems was a nice twist on a power that could be useful to a criminal but the person using it didn't want to.
Cyclops being immune to his own powers actually makes a lot of sense. If you think about it, with Newton's 3rd law, every time he used his beams, his head would be ripped off his body. This unfortunately would also be why he could never fly with the beams.
as a smaller individual, i liked the fact that wolverine was canonically 5'3" so it always bugged me that they cast huge jackedman to play the part, cause he's literally a foot taller than the character, at 6'3"
@@wellembalmed5031 they tried to in the first movie, but gave it up when they realized how much screen presence he had, there have been interviews where he's talked about it.
The problem with their explanation of why he is so good with his powers is that it negates the learning curve that he had in the comics. The X-Men were training constantly in the "danger room" for hours on end to hone their powers both individually and as a team. Cyclops was professor Xavier's first recruit as a teen. With all the training and then having to adapt when facing new enemies it would only be natural for Scott to have an awareness of how his powers worked. As for him being a square. He was essentially groomed to be the leader of the X-Men, and he was also afraid to lose self control because of the need to be constantly in control of his eye beams so as not to hurt anyone.
17:45 - I believe they actually have brought up the Flash’s quick reflexes a couple of times, or at least his faster perception of the world; eg I’ve heard that at least one comic has mentioned that when he’s at home watching TV with his wife, for her the TV is normal, but from his perspective it’s an agonisingly slow slide show because his brain is able to process each frame individually so he watches every show, film, etc frame by frame.
Favourite X-Men for me is Gambit. I just always loved his style. He was an anti-hero, like Wolverine. But while Wolverine is the anti-hero in the Clint Eastwood mold Gambit was more of the suave gentleman-thief/trickster type. Plus his jacket, wild spiky hair and cards just looked badass to me. And as an old school DuckTales fan and life-long Carl Barks fan I love the new version of the classic theme they made for DuckTales 2017. Might not be the most epic intro. But damn if it isn't one of the catchiest.

Key ingredients for a perfect MCU Cyclops: - Classic Power Origin - Trained for spatial awareness and looks around every time he enters a room - Geometry teacher - Not a wet blanket, he's a Chad like in the comics
I think the problem with Movie - Cyclops will always be that the Character can't be very dynamic on screen when using his powers. He just looks around, there is not even jazz-hand magic or scenery-bending .. only cold Blue Steel.
My favourite Japanese intro for a western cartoon is the Japanese version of the transformers animated intro. It’s kind of missleading, showing off side characters as if their gonna play a major part like iron hide and arcee, but the music and animation are INCREDIBLE
That's like Nightcrawler and every other teleporter having an innate spacial sense so he doesn't teleport into objects. It's something you would need to have to successfully use a teleportation power.
Well obviously Scott is tapping into the speed force. Barry absorbs the energy into his body as a diluted or "softer" form (the lightning), and Scott's eyes are portals through which he can expel the purer form of kinetic energy.
Don't forget how unlucky James Marsden was in "West World"... "Teddy" is like an analog of James Marsden career of characters... it's the ultimate final form of James Marsden!!!!
lets not forget Scott was hurt as a kid and got brain damage, witch was the part that truned his powers on /off so his powers are always on that why he needs the visor .
As far as rad intro songs go: Cautionary Warning. An anime called The Legend of Black Heaven, about saving the world with the power of rock, fittingly went hard for it's opening. They hired John Sykes, who has been part of Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake. Specifically, he was with Whitesnake for their self-titled album, which apparently went octuple-platinum.
I'd say the hypest anime intro is Yugioh 5ds' second to last opening with the song "Believe In Nexus" Say card games on motorcycles all you want, it doesn't make that opening any less blood pumping 🤘
Off topic question, but was I the only one that saw the trailers for 5ds and thought it was short for 5 dimensions due to the editing making it look like the bikes were a tool to travel dimensions and was disappointed when it was just the field spell?
when i first heard the Japanese Xmen intro.... i didn't even get through the first 12 seconds of it without pausing it and just restarting it over and over again because of how EPIC it was .... i was actually confused ... at how powerful and ULTIMATELY BETTER IT WAS
I’d imagine that if you were to enter the punch dimension you’d either be immediately pushed back out his eyes, be crushed against his eyelids, or both
My favorite x-man is Forget me not -- his power is to be forgotten the moment he is isn't observed, even cameras malfunction in his presence and hes apart of the original x-men team along side cyclops . "it's better to do something that matters and not be noticed than the other way around. Now comes the hard part. Actually doing something that matters. "
25:08 Speaking of the “monsters” in the Japanese intro, they are called “The Brood”. En they are a intergalactic species and long time enemies of the X-men. They are heavenly based on the aliens from the Alien-franchise, and the X-men has battled them loads of times.
Most depictions of speedster power shows them moving at normal speed and everyone else moving very slowly or not at all. That doesn't necessitate that they have super reflexes too. Their power could actually being manipulation of special relativity/time, so that the things they do just looks like it's super fast. That explanation also solves the problem with the people/things they save not just immediately being smashed into dust, as there isn't an infinite amount of energy zooming through them, it's just a normal amount going quickly through time.
I think Scott sees normal like us, it’s exactly like wearing shades we all have normal vision (unless colour blind) but when we wear shades it’s darker or toned and because Scott’s visor and shades contain Rose Quartz “he sees red”
When they were talking about people traveling through the punch dimension thats who nightcrawlers teleportation works whenever he BAMFs away he goes into the dimension and physically travels while unconscious to another location that will put him where he wants to go
Those "monsters" were the Brood. Although I am unsure if they fought them in the cartoon (been so long I cant remember) they have fought them many times in the comic. The stab you like a bee and inject you with DNA altering substance that turns you into one of them.
Scotts eyes are actually portals to the dimension of cytorok or whatever juggernauts god lives in. Both are beings of force, one channels it physically the other through his eyes.
Hmmm... I could be making a jump here, but, I think his energy could be being harvested directly from the realm of "Cittorrak", who empowers The Unstoppable Juggernaut (sorry, I probably horribly misspelled that name). Red energy energy from another universe which is a Concept of strength made physical. There's other examples of mutants( like Wanda with the existential chaos aspect access), who's ability is basically to have access to some existential building block, domain, or aspect of their universe that's beyond their mortal realm. Like a Uber cheat code.
Another cartoon theme song that goes so goddamn hard is that of the show “Extreme Dinosaurs”. I believe it was a spin off from street sharks but the theme is so damn good!
I never watched or heard that transformers show, but that intro went so hard it made me emotional. I'm going to look it up to hear that whole thing now
I'd think the beams would be absorbed by his hands, rather than reflected. If it were merely reflected, his eyelids would require additional mutations to justify.
So, for Americans watching, I just googled Dragon Soop and it's label looks like it was designed specifically by the designer of Four Loco. So basically it is Four Loco. Just Caffeine and Alcohol mixed with Koolaid.
Speaking of anime intros, you need to look up JAM Project. They’ve done SO many themes, plus each member has done individual anime intros too. One of the members, Hironobu Kageyama did Cha-La-head-cha-La (the original DBZ intro) and We Gotta Power (the second DBZ intro after the Cell Saga).
My favorite X-Men is Jubilation Lee (Jubilee) because she was effectively the main character of the 90's cartoon and I grew up watching it. Plus, fireworks are cool.
Probably late to the table but those monsters were the Brood. A knockoff of the Aliens schtick where the person who was captured didn't incubate a new alien but had the gene code rewritten to become a new Brood. Was a huge thing during the Shi'Ar Empire arcs of the late 80s and early 90s
One major note I love about the afternote of this vid: a lot of the Japanese themes are done by JAM PROJECT -- the supergroup that does the ONE PUNCH MAN themes, which even contains a member that came up with the original DBZ OP themes. xD
Since it’s pure kinetic energy and seeming infinite they’d probably be squished to death, the energy would probably work like a shit load of pressure if anyone somehow ended up in the “punch dimension”
14:57 scott does fly using optic blasts in some incarnations.and in one comic theres a version of scott thats a brain in a jar eyes on eother side for 360* coverage.
I know you were only talking about Anime intros, but I still have to shout out to the Buffy: The Vampire Slayer theme. It's one of my favorite theme songs.
Those monsters the X-men fight in that Japanese intro kind of look like "The Brood" from the comics. Idk if it is actually them cause I never finished the series(WIll binge it before X-men '97 comes out)
The Brood do show up in the series, but for whatever they couldn't use "The Brood" as their name. They were called "The Colony" and appeared in an episode with Mojo and were basically a cameo

Cyclops is the embodiment of the saying "if looks could kill"
One of my favorite moments is when he 1v1 Juggernaut. He he flat out gave him his MvC Super move.
The first opening song to Fire Force goes so hard 🔥
Cyclops works better when he's a villain! That determination and attention to detail! He's scary AF when he's gone over the edge!
14:46
That clip of godzilla flying had me in stitches...
That pokémon theme goes so hard and it's so out of nowhere.
I fucking love it...
lets not forget Scott was hurt as a kid and got brain damage, witch was the part that truned his powers on /off so his powers are always on that why he needs the visor .
I really like Rogue. I think she's neat. Also gambit, cuz he's Cajun
Are we going to gloss over the fact that a man named after the ONE-EYED greek mythological creature has TWO EYES?!
His codename is based on the fact that his visor makes it like he has one eye.
I'd say the hypest anime intro is Yugioh 5ds' second to last opening with the song "Believe In Nexus"
Say card games on motorcycles all you want, it doesn't make that opening any less blood pumping 🤘
CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES
CARD GAMES ON MOTORCYCLES
GOIN FAST MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE
Off topic question, but was I the only one that saw the trailers for 5ds and thought it was short for 5 dimensions due to the editing making it look like the bikes were a tool to travel dimensions and was disappointed when it was just the field spell?
@@bdp4 It was probably you. Have a good day ^-^
Cyclops was right
Magneto did nothing wrong.
"Griffith did nothing wrong and sasuke is cool"
Copyrights was wrong
Oh god here we go again 😂
Yeah the rumbling goes so hard. Amazing song to train to especially heavy lifts
I would love to have the" IT Crew" clip when Roy says "Nonononono, we can never talk about it NECER AGAIN"
when i first heard the Japanese Xmen intro.... i didn't even get through the first 12 seconds of it without pausing it and just restarting it over and over again because of how EPIC it was .... i was actually confused ... at how powerful and ULTIMATELY BETTER IT WAS
I’d imagine that if you were to enter the punch dimension you’d either be immediately pushed back out his eyes, be crushed against his eyelids, or both
Moving out of the anime space, Buffy has an amazing theme.
Our facial expressions when the guy said "Angel" were identical.
25:08 Speaking of the “monsters” in the Japanese intro, they are called “The Brood”. En they are a intergalactic species and long time enemies of the X-men. They are heavenly based on the aliens from the Alien-franchise, and the X-men has battled them loads of times.
Infinite energy out of his face and he uses it to blast people
Imagining cyclops flying around with a makeup mirror on a selfie stick
Most depictions of speedster power shows them moving at normal speed and everyone else moving very slowly or not at all. That doesn't necessitate that they have super reflexes too. Their power could actually being manipulation of special relativity/time, so that the things they do just looks like it's super fast.
That explanation also solves the problem with the people/things they save not just immediately being smashed into dust, as there isn't an infinite amount of energy zooming through them, it's just a normal amount going quickly through time.
For a hard anime opening I still love Deadman wonderland, and for an outro song has to be fear and loathing in Las Vagas from hunterxhunter
I think Scott sees normal like us, it’s exactly like wearing shades we all have normal vision (unless colour blind) but when we wear shades it’s darker or toned and because Scott’s visor and shades contain Rose Quartz “he sees red”
ok. I fucking died at the hard cut to Godzilla and that music as he flies away
When they were talking about people traveling through the punch dimension thats who nightcrawlers teleportation works whenever he BAMFs away he goes into the dimension and physically travels while unconscious to another location that will put him where he wants to go
Same with Brad, always liked Angel cause having wings seemed cool af to me
Archangel cooler tho
Yoahimitsu Banno: I'm gonna make Godzilla *FUGGIN' FLY!!*
Me: But *WHY* ???
Those "monsters" were the Brood. Although I am unsure if they fought them in the cartoon (been so long I cant remember) they have fought them many times in the comic. The stab you like a bee and inject you with DNA altering substance that turns you into one of them.
Yessss!! Thank you for acknowledging that Iron Man intro it hits too hard for a children's show.
Mysterious third person drinking a legal version of a speedball, damn
One intro I loved was the intro for a cartoon called: "Bob Morane".
The intro song by Buck-Tick to the horror anime Shiki was good enough that bothered to look up the band. It's good stuff.
"Skull Knight in Another World" is another anime which has a kickass intro. Also done by Pellek.
I also had an obsession with angel when I was younger because I also wanted wings.
"does it taste alright?"
"No."
😂😂
The first way his powers worked made so much more sense since he also losed his powers if out of the sun for to long
Probably late to the table but those monsters were the Brood. A knockoff of the Aliens schtick where the person who was captured didn't incubate a new alien but had the gene code rewritten to become a new Brood. Was a huge thing during the Shi'Ar Empire arcs of the late 80s and early 90s
I appreciate the Heinze Doofenshmirts refernce.😂
The Godzilla clip sent my sides into orbit oh my god
I love BEAST smart and powerful, someone I'd try to replicate in my life.
Dude, the og attack on titan intro still gives me goosebumps
One major note I love about the afternote of this vid: a lot of the Japanese themes are done by JAM PROJECT -- the supergroup that does the ONE PUNCH MAN themes, which even contains a member that came up with the original DBZ OP themes. xD
Cmon Karl you’re the one that taught me it’s punch beams
Since it’s pure kinetic energy and seeming infinite they’d probably be squished to death, the energy would probably work like a shit load of pressure if anyone somehow ended up in the “punch dimension”
The guy who said the spiderman unlimited intro is so valid
Do you wanna taste it - Peacemaker
14:57 scott does fly using optic blasts in some incarnations.and in one comic theres a version of scott thats a brain in a jar eyes on eother side for 360* coverage.
I know you were only talking about Anime intros, but I still have to shout out to the Buffy: The Vampire Slayer theme. It's one of my favorite theme songs.
Not him and his brothers being immune kinetic energy
I mean turtles and armadillos are extraordinarily durable, yet they can't lift the weight that's crushing them
Spider-Man Unlimted intro goes so hard dude
_Teen Titans_ had another excellent theme tune, a preformed by Puffy AmiYumi
"I was meant to go to that"
Pain
Those monsters the X-men fight in that Japanese intro kind of look like "The Brood" from the comics. Idk if it is actually them cause I never finished the series(WIll binge it before X-men '97 comes out)
The Brood do show up in the series, but for whatever they couldn't use "The Brood" as their name. They were called "The Colony" and appeared in an episode with Mojo and were basically a cameo
Electric Company Spider Man theme... because back in the 70s we WENT for it even if we knew nothing about spiderman :)
