Yes and No, it’d be great because female with robotic arms can stand on frontline with men and no outrage (the skiitari), and no because they would make female space marines (yes i know the sissies exist, but the idea came directly from feminids 40k, so you can guess what dice and ea would do). Considering the amount of cosmetic, weapon variants 40k have, since loot box is now legal in UK, i’d rather not see a 40k battlefront 2 ea.
Runs towards the enemy, is mowed down by the enemy. Make it to the enemy, smashed to pieces. Stop for a second to look for a better option, shot by the commissar. Sitting in a trench for weeks, before being obliterated by artillery. You would have to respawn so many times to even cap a point people would stop playing. Not saying it couldn’t happen, just that if it followed the lore(to a point) it would take forever to actually make it fun to play.
A space marine, an Eldar guardian, and an Ork are walking through the woods on a planet somewhere under the gloom of the eye of terror. The trio come to a halt at the end of an old, precarious looking bridge.
To the side of the bridge, a sign with scribbles reads "SPEAK WHAT YOU THINK AND PASS SAFFLY. "
The guardian steps to the bridge first. "I think l'm the most arrogant." He walks across the bridge unscathed.
The marine is next, and steps to the edge. "I think l'm the bravest" He crosses the bridge unscathed.
The Ork starts walking. He steps the bridge and says "I fink-" and is sucked into the Warp.

So like the marines historically? Underfunded and always stuck with outdated equipment.

The Emperor Protects!
@@VirtualHolocaust High Gothic is not a widely spoken language, but it is in use for ceremonial purposes, technical purposes (Which are pretty much the same to the Mechanicus), and in certain functions of government, traditions and titles. It's quite possible that the guard would be referred to in formal use as the Astra Militarum, even though the common soldier's HG vocabulary includes only those two words and about ten others. The use of pseudo-latin to represent the language is very much intentional, as it serves a function much like latin does in the fields of religion and of law to us: It conveys tradition, learning, respect and stability.
Not that it's completely dead. It's learned as a second language as part of the Adeptus Mechanicus training process, because it is the language of many of their technical manuals, so these would be the people most fluent in it. They have to read it on a regular basis, rather than only on ceremonial occasions.
@@vylbird8014 bruh love you and love your love for the lore and our Holy God Emperor. However i believe i was talking about what the OP posted. The children of mars wouldnt call themselves the guard. The bravesest Army in Science Fiction. The Guard has to face many threats on its own. The space marine show no Fear, but the Guardmans protect, and are the real heros.
Horus THAgreat dont forget that each of those threats (besides the tau) would be game ending for most other sci-fi universes. Like I would really like to see Darth Vader go up against three Chaos space marines. Or the Rebellion against the orks.
@@nutterbotter8308 Vader would probably win against one or two Chaos Marines due to his Force sensitivity. Star Wars cannon, old and new, has the established abilities of sensing what your opponent is about to do in a fight, also Vader has that telekinesis. Throw in his light saber, which would count as a power weapon, and against two, sure. Throw in a third or fourth Chaos Marine, though...nope. I love you, Vader, but you'd be dead like Elvis.

A true hero of the Imperium
They are the ultimate representation of the will and strength of Mankind. It takes a Space Marine to conquer a planet, but it takes a Guardsman to defend it.
Why is it that Guardsmen are never recruited into the Astartes?
Because the Mechanicus are still trying to make power armour large enough to hold their balls
@@harrymorris2361 exactly. If they put the resources for creating an Astartes into giving every guardsman power armour, the galaxy would tremble at our might.
QorinHalfhand. I think he is talking about the very few incredibly elite guardsmen being recruited into the Astartes. In all honesty I’m curious too as to why
@@670Noah My best guess would be that they are mostly too old to under go the surgical procedures. I believe that most Chapters recruit fairly young people, but may on occasion have recruited some older if its from the hive city's hood
@@harrymorris2361 How do we know they aren't? The Astartes are looking for certain attributes in their recruits. Not just combat skill: Conviction, loyalty, courage, rapid tactical thinking. They do favor recruiting people at a young age because it makes the transformation process easier, but the guard are also the perfect place to find people who have proven themselves - and some of the guard are recruited young too.
It's easy to imagine. One of the many enemies of mankind attack a planet, the guard fight back. Many die, but they still fight. The battle seems hopeless, but they still fight - trying to hold territory as long as they can, in the hope that luck is on their side, and reinforcements may make it in time. Luck is: The Astartes arrive, and fighting side by side they repel the attack - marines on the front lines, pushing deep into enemy territory to disrupt their supplies and target their commanders, with the Guard following into the disarray with the numbers needed to secure a new front line. After weeks of fighting, victory is won. The marines are watching though, and in the fray one of them spots potential: A guardsman who demonstrates skill, who attacks with bravery but not recklessness, who shows no mercy to his enemies yet still risks himself to protect his squad. He is young, and terrified - a volunteer for the guard, he entered training at the age of sixteen, and now he is drawn into battle with only a hurried basic training - yet he fights on like a soldier of ten years experience. A marine notices, and judges... a little old, perhaps, but already a trained soldier. It may need a few rules bent, but there is no need for this one to undergo full Aspirant training - there may yet be time. A note is made, a letter passed, a judgement made
When the battle is all but over, this soldier receives new orders - to report, not to his superior officer for debrief, but directly to Astartes temporary command. Uncertain what this means, he makes his way there. The area outside is busy with Astartes. Some returning from the front lines, armor scorched or pock-marked. Going against them are the replacements, their armor freshly repaired and brightly painted. Clerks dodge with a practiced nimbleness through the throng, dodging men in armor twice their height. It's a temporary post, set up only a week ago and likely gone again the next as it follows the front line - a staging post for supplies, ammunition and repairs. The soldier proceeds more carefully - a dwarf among giants, obviously out of place, until he can make it through the courtyard to the enterance proper. The building is huge - before the battle it was an agricultural store. Now is is the only place left intact large enough to accommodate the needs of an Astartes division.
There, just inside the door, he sees what he seeks - Sargent Diagon, easily recognized by his markings of rank and squad - armored, but without helmet as he discusses the day's battle. The guard approaches, orders in hand, but Diagon sees him first.
And then the guard sees something rare indeed. Something that very rarely is anyone outside of the Space Machines ever able to witness. He sees an Astartes, the mightiest warrior of the Imperium, smile. "We've been expecting you!" the enhanced, armored sympol of imperial might needs to lean forwards to see the smaller figure before him. "We have a new uniform for you... brother.."
(Story written at bleh-past-midnight, so I blame all mistakes on sleep deprivation.)

Pity the guardsman.
A weak sack of flesh destined to die for a dead god that never cared, it spends its pitiful, brief life alone in his foxhole with nothing more to keep him company-or to keep him safe-than the cheapest, most disposable equipment.
Me? As a servant of Chaos I enjoy all that this universe and the warp has to offer. Power courses through my veins. The gifts of the chaos gods will soon overtake me, and one day I may ascend. What has the guardsmen to look forward to but a grim life, and if he is lucky, perhaps he will feel nothing as my axe sends his soul to Khorne.
He lives for a corpse god and he shall join his god.. as a corpse. And I shall spare a second to think of his kind. Then I shall only laugh. Hail CHAOS!
You would laugh monster. But let me remind you.
Within this weak sack of meat and bone, uncared for by his god and wept for by none, beats a heart. A human heart, that carries with it the strength and courage of all mankind. Within that sack of meat is the hope, the will, and the fury of every man women and child from every corner of the Imperium. Within that weak sack of meat, festooned in thin armour and weapons only powerful in numbers, beats the heart of a man. And for ten thousand years, the hearts of men have beaten, strongly, in defiance of your so called "powers".
For ten thousand years, the hearts of men have stood united against a galaxy that despises them for no reason save that they have the audacity not to lay down and die.
For ten thousand years, your black crusades have been pushed back, beaten down, and made a mockery of, by weak sacks of flesh with cheap weapons and disposable equipment.
For that weak sack of flesh that you so gleefully mock is no supersoldier, no immortal warrior, no creature cursed by chaos like you. He is a man, an Imperial Gaurdsman drawn from some forgotten corner of the Imperium to fight for his species and for the safety of the people he loves. He is a factory worker. a farmer, a storekeeper, a father, a brother, a son, a mere man. And against creatures like you teeming and numberless, powered by the wills of thirsting gods... He holds the line. He has held the line for ten thousand years.
So what is your excuse, monster?

Against the Orks and the Thyranids they are almost always vastly outnumbered by usually more than 10 to 1.
Against Chaos forces...well it varies, as anything can be Chaos.
The point is, they are usually outnumbered. It's their mastering of combined arms and coordonation with their own support assets (heavy artillery, special forces units, mechanised and armored units, fighter bombers etc) as well as with the Imperial Navy and the Adeptus Mechanicus that they manage to win victories against overwealming odds. Imperial Guardsman to Space Marine:
"You're not brave. Men are brave."
At the end of the day, though he's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; though he deployed from high orbit with nothing but a grav chute; though he is one of ten million men and women snatched from his homeworld to fight a war he barely understands; though he has been given a weapon that fires small suns and may annihilate him as he fires because the knowledge of how it functions has been lost; though his company is supported by tractor-tanks that run on anything you can burn; though he wages war against a devouring hivemind, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.
Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is an Imperial Guardsman.
And he will hold the line.

The difference is that astartes have the "black carapace" (a full body skin replacement, they have to get their skin flayed off while concious and then it gets replaced with the black carapace) which allows for the armour to link with the astartes body.
Essentially it will be able to detect the movement of the astartes, and the armour will use its internal power source to make the internal synthetic muscle fibres (not the black carapace, these fibres are inside the power armour) move in accordance with the astartes movement. Essentially turning the power armour into an incredibly tough second skin.
Non astartes have a much less ease of use for power armour, it's still fantastic and fluid. However I doubt a non astartes could full sprint in power armour.
I love Warhammer 40k every single aspect of it has so many stories and lore I feel like I find out about a new incredible battle or feat from some legendary soldier every time I see anything about it
There arent really Good Guys in 40k. Only various degrees of guilt.
Yes Inquisitor this Heretic here
Inquisitor: "Loads and cocks bolt gun"
"Calls for aide ignored for decades."
AND THE GUARD STILL HOLDS!
"lazegun" No no mate... lasgun. *lasgun* Emperor damn it get it right!
Glad I'm not the only one, I was in physical pain whenever he said it like that
When I was new to 40k, the guy who was teaching me the game brought Imperial Guard. In the middle of our game, his psyker failed a roll and died. He explained to me what happened: The power the psyker was channeling is extremely unstable and he lost control, so, to prevent the psyker from exploding and killing everyone around, the Commissar quickly drew his pistol and shot the psyker in the head.
That moment defined the Imperial Guard to me and will probably always be the most memorable I have playing the game.
omg I need more warhammer lore from you, literally went through the whole playlist while drawing.
"We'll charge them, wave after wave after wave, until we drown them in our blood."
Actual Guard strategy? or Zapp Brannigan joke?
Yes.
@Lord Admiral Spire so basically what you're saying is that you don't get the joke...
@Lord Admiral Spire vahallans not even do that most of the times only the unlucky ones that is under chenkov command
Ojisan Kukki The wave after wave thing is seen as wasteful and only useful if it is absolutely necessary. Imperial Guard regiment do use actual tactics and strategy it’s just a lot of people in the fandom want “muh grimdark” so they ignore what happens in the lore in favor if annoying overused memes.
@@severanguardsman9428 yea i noticed so many cringey memes in these comments lol
They die by the thousands for one step, the hundreds of thousands for a meter, the millions for a mile. But the planet broke before the guard. Cadia stands.
@Cure4Living This is what chaos chaps would tell you, as every true believer in the emperor knows, a step is actually only half a foot.
@@textbookidiocy3896 xD
TextbookIdiocy No actually. Given that most of the battles the Guard deals with are single planet rebellions and chaos cultists, the Guard typically does not die in droves. It’s just that collectively, when you add up all the dead across the ENTIRE GALAXY the casualty rates are going to seem high.
@@severanguardsman9428 I do know this, i felt that it fit for what i wrote however.
And please do ouroboros next its killing me!!! I love it
4:18 wait there’s good guys
Lasguns are probably one of the most prominent memes among the 40K community. They are often called "flashlights" because of the comparisons between those and their enemies as mentioned in the video. But the sheer number of them is absolutely something to be amazed by on any given battlefield. One of my favourite quotes is from the Black Crusade RPG: "The Legionnaire that scoffs at a lasgun has not charged across an open field against a hundred of them." 1d4chan also reminds readers "And remember, hit the marine in the eye, and they drop like a fly."
Cadia stands spam
(It’s okay exploring, I get tired of memes too sometimes, but I absolutely love your content!)
chris wimmers thank god someone finally says this, appreciate the quote buts its overused as shit sometimes
MEN OF TANITH!! DO YOU WANT TO LIVE FOEVER!?!
I believe that is a re-adaptation of a quote from some American marine in ww1 that went something like "come on you sons a b***hes. You wanna live for ever?"
1 aministrative staff per fighting role is a HUGE logistical step up from current day military, where fore every soldier fighting it takes 2-4 people taking care of the logistics.
As a guy who is well aware of how the military works, it's likely the numbers that work to keep the Guard supplied and maintained will probably outnumber the Guardsmen themselves anywhere from 7-12 support personnel to 1 Guardsman.
Another great video. W40k has so much incredible artwork.
9:37 And in extreme cases, can suffer from tragic weapons accidents well away from the front line (see also the "Oops, sorry sir!" special rule for Catachan regiments). There are exceptions to that, such as Ibram Gaunt and Ciaphas Cain
9:55 [Laughs in Death Korps of Krieg]
10:24 I'm pretty sure it's Cata-CHAN, not Cata-KAN
12:00 No love for the Tanith First-and-Only? You make me sad.
For Tanith!
The planet broke before the guard did that is one bad ass line
Sometimes I forget you do other videos than just SCP stuff. I'm an equally big fan of WH40K as I am the SCP universe. I also love your narration voice. This perfect for me. As always thank you for your work.
Acadia broke, before the guard! FOR THE EMPEROR!
In Life sin, in Death redemption, the emperor protects!
"WE DIE STANDING"
LET IT BE KNOWN THAT THE PLANET BROKE BEFORE THE GUARD DID!!!
It was described that as the planet cracked and buckled the imperial navy witnessed lasguns continuing to fire as the planet shattered around the. Cadia Stands
THE PLANET BROKE BEFORE THE GUARD.
...but all things serve the King.
Bro BRAVO! Well fucking done. You really outdid yourself and did the research. Cadia broke before the guard did! Hail Victory! Hail The God Emperor!
Great timing
I was watching another video about the Imperial Guard in 40k
The Imperium seems very technologically stagnant. It seems to me that the idea of throwing endless hordes of bodies at the enemy will eventually burn through the manpower reserves of humanity, and that thus far the imperium survives only because they are the biggest, with many hive worlds to draw recruits from.
Excellent, as always!
I came for watching the artworks as well. IG art is mazing!
Great video keep going
Something tells me exploring series is a fan of 40k
He's actually not. Knew nothing about it before it was requested to do this. He revealed that in the SCPodcast.
@@squirrel_killer- True, but I quickly became a fan.
@@TheExploringSeries I would love to see you dig into some of the sub factions after this brief first pass. Things like specific big name chapters, some warbands of traitor marines, a few forgeworlds and craftworlds in particular. Gives more of a peak into the depth to show where to start digging.
Nice lots of info. Great video
I like the note you left at the end.
To save our Mother Earth from any alien attack!
From vicious giant insects who have once again come back!
We’ll unleash all our forces we won’t cut them any slack!
THE EDF DEPLOYS!
Wait, wrong franchise...
You know would be cool if the makers of edf makes a 40k game... Would be dope... 4 class , an astartes as the fencer , the sister of battle as wing Diver, a techpriest as air raider and A guardsman as... You know a soldier... While fighting hordes of tyrannids for glory of the Imperium
G fuckin g bro
Love the 40K content.
As soon as you said "The Imperial Guard" I felt the urge to correct you saying "Astra Militarum?" and imagined someone else saying "The wall of Guns!"
I love those videos about the awesome Warhammer 40,000 lore
Love the 40k lore, I also liked a lot of the past lore videos you did like lord of the rings and call of cathulu. It would be awesome if you did lore on DnD and shadowrun. Love the videos, you're doing a great job
When you're in the artillery regiment, and are ordered to "Fix bayonets" on the artillery pieces and charge with them. 🤷♂️
Load a powder charge into the gun, fill up the barrel with bayonets.
"Let it rain for the glory of the emperor."
"In death, peace. In life, shame. In death, atonement."
Oh I love 40k, and a very extremely awesome video as well.
"welcome to the imperial guards ..
where body count doesn't matter "
For every one of us who fall ten more shall take his place .
Long live the Emperor and humanity.
Love your videos
You should do an entire video on the craziest hardasses to ever serve the Imperium: the Death Korps of Krieg
Yes... please do a video of cadia. Cadia Stands!
