This is actually way more informational than I thought it would be, I def think this is going to help me improve with my bass. As a guitarist, this is genuinely fun to learn
I wish I discovered this channel 2 years ago when I was first learning the bass. I’ve already had such vast improvement over my playing in the past 2 weeks. Awesome channel.
That’s so cool to hear! Can I ask what in particular helped you?
@@OnlineBassCoursesyour online courses and your playlist are very organized. You also tend to explain things a lot better than other channels I have seen
Thanks for the video!
Dan , as a beginner bass player from the Netherlands i follow a lot of your videos a d have already learned a lot from your lessons . Just wanted to say thank you for Al the explanation, time and patience . Greetz from the Netherlands.
Thanks so much for the comment and for watching!
Just found your channel, straight to the point, has tabs aaand sheets too. Very nice, gold content
Thanks! 🙏
I thought I was further along in my bass playing journey! (1 year in). Can play along with a bunch of songs, my tone is reasonably good, I can use 2 and 3 finger technique reasonably well, and can make some good sounds come out of the amp. Following along with this lesson this morning, and having difficulties with much of it - which is a good thing.
Many thanks Mr. Hawkins for showing me some technical stuff I need to work on. I owe you a pint of your favourite beverage.
Thanks, Richard! We’re all working on something. It’s a never ending but rewarding journey.
This channel is gonna blow up soon! Thanks a lot. Learning a ton
🙏🙏🙏
Tanks Dan, I have learned a lot with your lessons. You are a great bass player and an excellent teacher!!
Thank you!
Star man Dan. Cool as! Thankyou💫
This video couldnt have come at a better time for someone like myself who has been ignoring alternate plucking (wannabe Jamerson smh), currently uncomfortable with pinky finger rolling, never tried a hammer-on before, deathly afraid of ghost notes, and yea just a beginner in general open to exploring all of these techniques in one convenient exercise.
Thanks for the perfect upload Dan!
They are scary at first! Don’t worry, it will get much easier for you.
Brilliant lesson. A lot to work on but so encouraging. Thanks again Dan😊
Thanks, Keith.
WOW!!! Pure gold
Thank you 🙏
Thanks Dan. Great as always.
This was great!
Thanks from Oklahoma☺
Watching from South Africa, thank you 🙏🏾

I just love these lessons sounding fantastic Dan, 🔥🔥👌🏽Thank you 🙏I find your method and work ethic in Learning Bass very helpful and inspiring 🏴
Glad you like them!
Great video and teaching
🙏🙏
Hi Dan, simply amazing, you’ve inspired me to take up Bass guitar, just wondering if you have a recommendation for someone with small hands like a short scale, or should I look at full scale. I’m also interested in your set as it sounds great. I will look at getting your bass course to help and support me. Regards Ron
Thanks, Ron! I’d say go to a shop and try a short scale to see if you like it. Don’t worry too much about brand. If you play several different basses you’ll probably be surprised at what you end up liking.
Another excellent lesson. I was noticing that between the second and third notes (A and the octave above it) you give the strings a kind of percussive tap with your plucking hand, marking the eighth rest. Is there a word for this technique and do you have any pointers about it? Unlike ghost notes, I am not sure that I have ever seen this mentioned. (incidentally, I own your Creative Bass Technique book. Really good value!)
Glad you like the book! 🙏 Sometimes I do that to mark the beat but I generally say not to do it with other musicians because they’ll get annoyed 😂. I don’t really know the technical term for it but if it fits in with what you want to play, explore it. You can get some cool percussive rhythms going!
У Вас очень хорошая постановка рук и Вы очень хорошо объясняете
Thank you.
Great line full of good techniques to learn. Thanks
Very welcome!
👍
