Happy knitting my friends.
Your enthusiasm as you navigated the drama and trauma of stitch count discrepancies was contagious. 🙂 I loved every moment of this vlog. It reminded me of the mood you set in your very early videos. Thank you for sharing your development process with us. ❤😘
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed them!
Such a beautiful finished project - love your choice of colours and that you did all the work and shared it with us so we could feel a part of the MKAL without any of the effort lol - thank you so much!!
Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed them!
Your shawl is gorgeous! Just remember that when you are wearing it,it is all bunched up. No one is ever going to see any mistakes. They are just going to be amazed by your skill and talent.
Aww thanks so much and yes, that is good advice!
It is gorgeous. I loved watching your journey. thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching! And for the compliment. :)
The texture is triangles, the color is squares. It’s a really cool optical illusion and screams art deco to me. I love it! 🥰
Exactly!!
I do get the art deco thing, for sure! And yes, that is such an eloquent and succinct way to say it!
Wow, it's beautiful. I love your colours. Xx
Thank you so much!
Your shawl is absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
It’s gorgeous Matthew!!! So enjoyed following along! ❤
Oh, thank you so much!!!!
Beautifully done!! This is my favorite out of the three I’ve done, also!! 🤩
Thanks so much!
I was right! Told you so! Lol. Love yours! Looks Amazing!! Great job!!
LOL! Thank you so much!!!
Love your colors❤
Thank you so much!
A most enjoyable coda to your Go Go Dynamo journey. Much appreciation for your taking us along step by step, Matthew.
Several times in this episode when you were talking about living with some mistakes, I thought of the saying, "Don't allow perfection to spoil the good." Your Go Go Dynamo is gorgeous.
I'm slogging along with an applied I-cord edging around the perimeter of a 72" scarf that I designed. It's a theme and variation on Breton stripes in blue, white, red, and pale pink.
Thank you! And wow, that scarf sounds really really cool! Hope it's going well and can't wait to see it!
@fairygodfatherknits My Breton stripes scarf is finished, and I'm very pleased with it. A friend is going to help me with photographs in a few days. I appreciate your interest in the scarf, Matthew.
That is gorgeous, haven’t made one since the slip stitch one,but yours make me want to make this one🥰🥰🥰
It's amazing how much variety there really is to them... though now that I have done three, and a few other of his shawls, I am wondering if/when I will stop... just feels like you can only reasonably have/wear a certain number of them?
I really enjoyed your podcasts on the MKAL. I thought your tribute to your friend was lovely. What really strikes me is that your shawl has a painterly effect which is emphasised by the variations in your dark yarn.
I thought something was wrong with my shawl as my triangles didn't have the same geometric appearance as Stephen's or anyone else's but I think it's because I used pastel colours from some natural dyeing I did, and my yarn wasn't smooth as it is handspun alpaca. I hope to revisit the pattern with some commercial yarn and just two colours complete with the brioche, as I just did the eyelet bands because I haven't done brioche before.
All the very best and I look forward to viewing more of your podcasts from here in New Zealand.
Thanks so much, happy you found me! I've only knit with alpaca a couple of times and it does behave so differently! I'm impressed you're willing to tackle it again... I'm not quite there yet but then again when I see some of the different colour combinations on Instagram it is really inspiring. Thanks for your kind words.
I have so enjoyed travelling with you through this years MKAL. Your shawl is amazing and the colours have come together beautifully, truly a worthy dedication to your friend. I'm almost at the end of clue 2, just the bubbles then the triangles, also not sure how I will block it when I finally get to the end. Thank you for your videos, tips and all the fun 😊
Aww, I'm so glad that they were helpful! Thank you for your kind words. Sounds like your shawl is progressing well, good luck with it!
'I have made terrible mistakes' *mischievous cackle * 😂😂😂 same, my friend, same 😂😂😂
Two peas in a pod!
I love it so much! And your vlog of the process has been very entertaining. 😊 I usually do an all-in soak and block, but we have an active border collie and the house is in chaos at the moment for other reasons, so I steam blocked for the first time and am happy with the results. My semi-circles section was a bit saggy and baggy compared to the rest of the project, but steaming the whole shawl evened out the tension. The steamer I have can be used for horizontal surfaces, which is a stroke of luck, because I’m not sure I was paying attention to that when I purchased it! Look forward to seeing what you make next! ~Brenda
Okay thank you for this! I have never worked with a steamer at all, and never tried steam blocking! But I want to, and this story is so encouraging. I'm so glad it worked out for you!
Stunning Go Go!
Thank you so much! I'm seeing so many people didn't do the border, but I'm glad I did mine.
@@fairygodfatherknits I'm all for the border too! I finished a Begonia Swirl shawl earlier in the year which had just over 1100 stitches so 600+ doesn't scare me 🤣
Your shawl looks spectacular! I’m still plodding through Clue 2. I’m hoping to finish by the end of November. In my defense, I have been knitting 3 other projects that are birthday gifts and must be finished by Nov. 3 and Nov. 20. But it’s encouraging to see your progress and your success!
I was just saying to someone else how much I respect putting things aside in order to finish gift knits on time! I hope you did and that you have had a chance to get back to your shawl (or maybe not until after the holidays? LOL).
Loved this video and what a great result! I’m on my last wavy border stripes, weighing my MC to see how many I can do
Awesome, I hope it turned out great!
Beautiful shawls you have there 😍
Aww thank you, I appreciate that so much. I know it wouldn't be for everyone but I am happy with it for myself.
@ well it looks stunning draped around you so wear with pride 💖
Great work!!!
Thank you so much !
Looks Great
Thank you so much!
Your shawl is beautiful!!👏🤍 thanks for taking us on this ride with you!😘
Thank you and my absolute pleasure!
I'm soooo feeling you. When I did the contrast tiny bobbles they were so tight I couldn't pick them up. Ended up using a tiny bamboo dpn to pick up the bobble (so kinda like what you did) and yes! It was inelegant and finicky. Love the final product, though!!
It makes me feel better that I'm not the only one! And sounds like you came up with a great solution too - great minds think alike! Or else fools seldom differ LOL
Omg ! It’s a masterpiece!
Thank you!
Yay! Good vibes video to finish up Clue 4.
Absolutely!
So beautiful!
Thank you so much!
I started late and am just on clue 4. When I saw your needles I thought ‘oh no’ I’d struggle with those as they are quite blunt (I have Zings). I’d definitely recommend trying some sharper tips (I’m using Hiya Hiya sharps but have Chiaogoo lace tips too).
Thank you! I have a feeling I might get addicted to very sharp needles... but I am ready for it. Of those three you mentioned, which is your favourite? Or which is the sharpest?
@ Hiya Hiya sharps are the sharpest imo so am using them (I still managed to miss a couple of loops on those teeny bobbles)🙈 although I did only do them with my mohair!
I have exactly the same problems, I'm glad I'm not alone
For some reason it does feel better not be alone with them, doesn't it? I'm always happy when people say they are having the same issue/problem
Gorgeous, my #1 for colour choice. I finished mine. I am proud of it, but it can't compare to yours. I have a question... do you have an episode on Penguono ? If so, which one ? Thanks.
Thank you so much! I have knit a Penguono but I don't think I have talked about it in an episode ever! But maybe I can do one soon. I have done the Pengweeno as well and I think I talk about it in the episode Everything I Knit for Sophia
Oh it’s beautiful, Im tempted to give it a go , just a bit intimidated by the number of stitches
I understand... and there is no denying that it is a lot. But it doesn't feel so daunting once you are actually doing it, maybe because it builds slowly? And I am seeing that a lot of people didn't do the border, and it still looks great.
My i cord edge gets too tight as well. I’ll need to check out your suggestion for the extra yarn over.
I think a lot of us have this issue. Just today on Instagram I saw some other tutorial videos talking about ways around it.
Using interchangeables and changing the left tip to 2 sizes small for that knit 3 together and a a needle with a long sharp tip. My hiya hiya lace worked best.
Thank you! I definitely need to try more needle brands.
🖤🧶🧡🧶🖤
Don't redo the boarder! It's amazing and gives it character and uniqueness!! ❤❤❤
Thank you!
