I just bought a bigger boat from a 15 ft Gheenoe with a 4 hp merc to a 17ft Sylvan with a 2001 40 hp Mercury and broke a fin on Propeller first day out on a log. Haven't even had a chance to take the family out yet. I was shocked at how much they cost and also how confusing it was to ID it. Pretty sure it came original w the motor
It fit perfectly. Looks pretty good for $50. I installed it but the starter bendix gear spins but won't move up to engage the flywheel. Just whines and spins free so I have to work that out tomorrow and hopefully guve the new prop a go. Thanks again for this video
I wonder if you could help? I have a 2016 40 Merc four stoke 3 cylinder with 35 hours on it. I cannot get it past 4800 RPMs. Any suggestions? Thx Dallas

Question for you when you slow your boat down 40 horse down from what open to neutral without going in to neutral. Does your boat Gloria make a click annoys ratchet ignoise? I'm having problems with mine and the dealer. Everybody says it supposed to do that.

Nice info thanks.Do you have forward and back play in your prop ?I noticed there is about an 1/8 of play on my 50 hp .

Get a 10 pitch prop.
Yes I have the same engine with a cupped 12 pitch 4 blade can only get up to 4800 rpm. Changing to either 4 blade 10 pitch or 3 blade 11 pitch

The stock prop, if you want speed take out weight.
