ABOUT INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE
A luxury apartment covering an entire single floor of a high rise. Where the Vampire has granted the interview with the man he once judged to be unworthy. And where the journalist Daniel Molloy has hustled, for a second shot at the interview that got away from him 40 years earlier…
Based on Anne Rice’s iconic novel, Interview with The Vampire follows Louis’ epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality, as told to the journalist Daniel Molloy. Chafing at the limitations of life as a black man in 1900’s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist Lestat’s offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion.
But Louis’s intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestat’s newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement. A sensuous, contemporary reinvention of Anne Rice’s revolutionary gothic novel.

He is telling the truth but you can tell that the story is already affecting Louis. Claudia's face at the end was basically saying Louis Stand Up 😭
I could tell that Claudia was not buying that story not even for a dollar.
Sam Reid is so captivating as Lestat.
This is the one of the few shows out right now where the whole cast is just stellar. They all make the show.
They missed the mark with Claudia
Truly, what an amazing cast.
@@magicalmilimi894 she was magnificent
They are all incredible. Shame that there is no nomination at the Golden Globes😡.
Shill 😂
What Lestat is describing is exactly what happens to him in "The Vampire Lestat". Magnus even refers to Lestat as "Wolf Killer" as Lestat was hunting the wolves that were plaguing his village at the time as he was an expert marksmen & a proficient hunter. Lestat kills all the wolves, nearly at the cost of his own life, losing his beloved horse & hunting dogs in the process. Hopefully, this will be covered when they adapt the second book in TV form.
Yes, I am reading the book. Magnus preyed upon him.
I can't wait. Sam will take center stage.
Given how they massacred the timeline and story, be wary.
Might happen in Season 2, get a glimpse of his past and how he met the Parisian vampires.
@@bartolomeestebanmurillo4459 That'd be awesome.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Notice how well the framing works on this scene it isn't until Lestat says he was alone that is alone in the frame. Claudia and Louis are slowly disappearing as he talks about his traumatized past!
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
The framing, the slow camera push makes Lestat look vulnerable and alone.
@@moviemadvideo I agree.
👏
I love the contrast in expressions between Louis and Claudia at 1:40. You really get to see the differences in their personalities and how they view Lestat. Louis' face show so much empathy, pain, and understanding. While Claudia is just like "bullshit sob story... get over yourself" LOL
Yeah, she’s not buying that story at all.
It’s soooo good! Just impressive work from everybody. 😁
LOL but what lestat said was true! She just doesn’t like Lestat
@@july1470 but it’s true, I’ve read the books
@july1470
I don't blame her. What he and Louis did to her isn't too dissimilar from what Magnus did to Lestat. They took away her agency and her ability to choose her own life.
Couple that with the fact that she's stuck in a child's body, and she has every reason not to be empathetic towards him.
She'll never know real friendship, love, or intimacy now that she's been set apart from the rest of humanity.
Honestly, my one complaint with the show was the minimization of Lestat’s trauma here. He just says “instead he turned me into this” which, in my opinion, glosses over how violent the actual transformation was. It definitely glosses over what a sexual predator Magnus was. He stalked Lestat at theater he performed at, called him beautiful, never used his name. It also isn’t mentioned that Magnus became a vampire by capturing a sleeping vampire and taking his blood by force, or that he threatened to throw Lestat into the fire, or how Lestat begged on his knees for Magnus to stay with him, even just one night. Finally, in the show Lestat was turned into a vampire when he was 34 while in the book, he was only 22.
I think the reason for this is because since Louis is telling his own story it wouldn’t make sense for him to know everything about Lestat’s backstory. In later seasons though we might get a more fleshed out version of his backstory told from Lestats perspective. But for now we only know what Louis knows.
I think Lestat minimizes because although he has so much trauma, his pride allows him to only get so vulnerable, even with Louis. That's basically why he lost Louis. He took his pain and allowed it to twist him into a bitter, vicious killer. Anyone watching really should listen to The Vampire Lestat on audiobook. It's FREE on UA-cam right now btw! You will understand Lestat so much better. Lestat turned his own MOTHER! She was almost dead from TB. Those 2 are very much alike. He adored his mom.
Part of that Lestat may not have known, another part is that he is traumatized. He's trying to tell the story while trying to stay in control of himself. Telling it all is a very vulnerable thing.
In Blood Canticle Lestat himself even straight up calls it a rape, since in books act of drinking blood is the highest level of intimacy vampires are capable of. Makes me wonder if the show will add literal rape, since there vampires can have sex too
because this is the first book, from luois' pov. you will get more in s3 when they get to lestat's pov
Sam's acting is SPECTACULAR
Lestat story is rich in trauma and keep in mind he’s only telling less than 1% of his origins here. Anne did such a fantastic job crafting a character we all can cry with, be angry at , root for, then want to hug all at the same time!
He’s telling the truth but still holding back so much more pain it’s truly tragic
Sam is born to play Lestat. I can't wait for them to move on from "Interview with the vampire" and start adapting "Vampire Lestat" and later books ❤ He will be amazing!
But I don't want to forget to mention Jacob and Bailey they are all spectacular in their roles, Eric and Assad as well! Amazing cast!! The cinematography, the writing, the acting, the visuals.. it all just clicks perfectly in this show!
This episode was amazing! Claudia finally getting the upper hand and his temper tantrum after 😂😂
Loved that part so much!!! The acting on this show is phenomenal.
love the directing! without any camera move, just zooming in, giving audience time to immerse into Sam's acting and Lestat's story
In an interview with Sam Reid he states that he did numerous versions of any given scene and he left it up to the editing to decide. I can see his doing this scene in an angry and / or bitter version. Guess they decided to go with soft vulnerable version.
Yes it makes sense for Sam/Lestat to use the vulnerable version. It’s makes his story more believable.
@@july1470
That and we've seen what he looks like when he's bitter and angry, he's brash and volatile.
The cinematography and the acting 🤌
This actor's voice is incredible.
...and then she ABANDONED the chess game and that sent him into a frenzy.
Omg I never thought of that!
Good catch!
OMG! I just got that.😮
Yes, that scene was remarkable. Claudia exploited Lestat’s fear of abandonment which is what drives a lot of his cruelty and desperation. It also serves as a way to make Lestat flip out in front of Louis and remind him that Lestat is still unpredictable and violent.
Sam Reid is spectacular. His portrayal of Lestat is so captivating. The entire cast is excellent but the makers really lucked out by getting Sam Reid and Jacob as Lestat and Louis. They gave everything to their chatacters and their pairing. They depicted all the emotions to the tee. Be it sadness, anguish, grief, empathy, jealousy, anger and mostly love. I am sure we don't have much of lestat in season 2 I guess but I am dying to see them together again at each other's throat both lovingly and non-lovingly😅 I am on Lestat and louis ship for life ❤
This show takes my breath away with every episode!!!! 🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇🦇
Ugh, Sam Reid is just fecking gorgeous. Stahhhhpitttt.
You know it😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
God this show is all consuming. I love it sooo much
Haha i feel the same! No time for college coursework- only vampires 😂
Don't forget Magnus's maniacal laughter throughout the entire process. Magnus wanted to produce the ultimate slap in the face to all the ancient vampires, a wrecking ball, a rebellious teenager and Magnus was old and had never made another vampire before Lestat, he made him extremely powerful because of it.
Lestat is telling the truth, even if they don't believe it (for them, due to his terrible behavior, he lies, so that they feel compassion). His creation was brutal violence. Magnus was powerful, but never accepted among vampires. He accumulated wealth and wanted an heir to make his passage to the world of the dead. He chose a boy rejected by the world, full of resentment, with a difficult, violent temperament and a rebellious character to make "the worst vampire", but full of powers. A revenge, I don't know.He crossed Louis 's way not by chance. He chose him to be his, he forced the meeting, but Lestat wasn't the best company for anyone at the moment. That's why everyone rejected him. (that's why he complained that he didn't like being abandoned)
Sam looks the way Anne describes Lestat in the book.
I like that it's the truth but that means season 2 needs to bring in something of Nicki,Gabrielle,Marius and Armand... also,I would totally be an extra for free lol
Well, I hope we'll get your wish about Armand, all things considered
Loving this show so far! Looking forward to MAYFAIR WITCHES
Mayfair witches!!!!!
I think the greatest book is Taltos & I wonder how they will do it!
OMG!!! I cannot wait to see this on Sunday. Only 2 episodes left and I'm going in the hospital next week, so will bring my computer and watch there. Couldn't miss this, and won't miss it, along with The Walking Dead. The 2 best series ever made. Thank you AMC,
I can’t wait to see episode 6 Sunday. I’m really loving this show
I’m a die hard book lover but he is a good Lestat
It is so desperate when Lestat was turned into a vampire. How much was he desperated when he wanted to listen Nicki plays violin, how much he wanted to perform... everything shattered. Hope I could see Nicki in the upcoming season. Lestat tossing pebbles to knock Nicki's door , how Nicki scolded Lestat helplessly when he read lines of the play that Lestat would perform, how he played violin for Lestat to listen. Hope to see that pure, artistic and energetic young man and Lestat's past.
This man acting in this scene is next level I hope this show goes to s8 or beyond
He was born to play Lestat
Sam Reid is Lestat.
After season 2 ep 7, these scenes hit different
One of the best shows I love lestat he is too gorgeous🥰🥰😍😍😇😇💙💙❤️🔥❤️🔥💗💗💯
I'm only at episode 3 but I can surely say Lestat is my favorite of the whole show.
Sam is beautiful as Lestat 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰. Is it confirmed that IWTV: Cast Diaries will air starting this Sunday after the season finale and will air through Dec 18th?
What's that?
@@ihavenonamep I was told that AMC+ is gonna air the cast diaries starting this Sunday after the season finale and will continue until Dec 18th and I would like confirmation on this.
@@darlene5216 what's the "cast diaries"?
@@celeste7649 Actually I'm not sure. I'm assuming it's like a behind the scenes type. As I said, this was told to me.
@@darlene5216 okidoki thank you
I would love to see a film for The Vampire Lestat. And The Body Thief.
The original plan is to continue to tell the chronicles in a tv show format so as long as they continue the quality of writing we probably will see this shows version of The Vampire lestat and hopefully the body thief I especially loved that one
Season 3 is already in the works, and it is supposed to be "The Vampire Lestat".
amazing cast... i misss her so much
All because Lestat wanted to be an actor in Paris and is stalked by Magnus and later is kidnapped and made only for him to say scatter the ashes and throws himself into a funeral pryer and is left by himself to fend for himself and I'm assuming that Magnus thought Lestat would be have been strong enough to destroy the covern of the children of satan led by Armand which he does almost easily, so surviving is a basic skill that Lestat is gifted with naturally
The story of Lestat is absolutely true to the book, and more clarified in the comments as this seems to generally gloss over it, but though the guys is probably a great actor, that simply isn't devastatingly, stunning, beautiful, insane. wild, world and all life/law defying Lestat. Lestat was a physical, psychological work of art... no one has ever come close to him... I saw a fun mock up Rolling Stone cover of Lestat decades ago and that was the closest I've ever seen. A blond, stunningly beautiful, bold, charismatic, charming, naughty. seductive, Timothée Chalamet with more of a Jack Sparrow type personality would be a better fit, imho. Louis was a white, and it is important here because he was Louisiana slave owner, and not a black slave owner of other blacks. Also along with this, Claudia is very, very young, a forbidden child made to manipulate Louis. Doing it like this takes away from the story, the times, the setting and the environment that gave birth to their individual personalities based in that time. Tbh, Jacob Anderson is and can be made to be stunningly beautiful, as is seen in this clip, but he also carries the qualities of extremely sensitive and emotional Louis and can capture all of Lestat's qualities much better in every way other than skin color... If you take away the time, setting, historical context, blowing it all out and just cast the characters in modern day, Jacob could pull of both roles. Kirsten Dunst was the best Claudia and can't really be replaced except for another that can look and perform just like her.
Heartbreaking!!
Magnus is anne rices best character ever.hes a nutball🤘
That is one hell of a vampire confession...
To be honest about your abandonment issues to the one you truly love is scary AF I can't imagine if this was real 😮❤
I hope season 2 opens with him hunting the wolves in Auvergne.
The series isn't there yet. They still have to get through the second half of IWTV. But I am looking forward to their take on The Vampire Lestat and, ultimately, The Queen of the Damned! But I did love Wolfkiller Lestat, and Marius, and Those Who Must Be Kept!!
There’s a promo shot of him in his wolf killer clothes
I wish so bad Sam would get instagram!
The decision to have him all bruised up keeps me up at night.what happened at Antoinette's? Why did Louis gloss over it?
That's what Louis did to him while they were "making up" 🤭
They were hate-fucking 🤣🤣🤣
I honestly still love tom cruise as lestat. They made him look straight out of berserk (griffith character).
This actor is still very good tho.
Someone tell me where can i watch for free plss
Charles Dance for Magnus!!!!!
He already has played two vampires. The master vampire in Dracula Untold and a vampire elder in Underworld. With that being said a third time is always the charm.
What is the name of this sound track ?
louis stand up omg
And they still abandoned him. Not only that, they left him for DEAD! 😭😭😭
i am astonished that hollyweird is actually relying on the original source material for this. I half expected him to say Marius de Romanus like the movies did....but he related the story almost verbatim from the novel. most interesting. not interesting enough to make me watch but interesting none the less.
Sam Reid is phenomenal as Lestat, He's carrying this show on his back
He's incredible, but so are the other two, and the writers, and production designers, and composers, etc., etc., etc....
Love Lestat
No he’s not carrying that show alone, everyone is. That’s why it’s so good, it’s a labor of love and it shows.
Sam is incredible, but he's definitely not the only one carrying this show. That's the great thing about it.
Jacob Anderson is carrying for me, but Sam is cool too.
I think Claudia's eyes are red because she was turned right before her human death.
Red like fire maybe? Since she was burned? Also in the books she has the least humanity because she was turned so young so it makes sense that her eyes look the least human between the three of them.
Claudia is the real monster in this, she always was the most evil of all vampires. She has no humanity, no remorse. In the books, she was way worse, at least here in the show she is quietly manipulative. It will be fascinating to see Louis and Lestat ebb and flow with one another since they are very much end-game. They both, throughout the centuries, grow immensely as characters. From being horrible to each other, to loving each other flaws and all.
I wish she was younger than she been portrayed, as it was always her young age that truely made her terrifying.
@@densum8184 It was her evil nature and lack of humanity that was the worst part of her. Part of that was due to being in a 5 year old body. Even Anne herself, when she spoke of the casting, had mentioned that a 5 year old Claudia could not do. They could not portray such difficult source material, not to mention, aging through the shows seasons.
@@MagicApple03 10 bucks says Dakota fanning could have pulled it off.
Agreed. Dakota could have.
@@annad9534 Dakota is 29. What the hell are you talking about?????😂😂😂😂
this is after he met Louis?
Yes lestat already met Louis at this point
What about Marius?
He's not Lestat's maker so it's not relevant here
Thought it was Marius?
Nope. Marius made Armand. Magnus made Lestat. But Lestat searches out Marius in the second book to try and learn from him.
lol
Is that a bite mark on Lestats neck?
Two, left and right side. I’m not surprised. if you look at Louie’s injuries and the opening shot, he has multiple stab wounds from the Lestat’s nails along with the bite to his neck, Lestat brutalized him even worse than what we saw on camera. Louis went easy on him.
Why did Magnus kill himself?
It’s a long story but the short of it all we really don’t ever get a full clear reason other than many theorize magnus didn’t want to go on any longer but wanted to pass on his legacy, you see magnus was an alchemist who unlike most vampires who get chosen to be a companion he stole his dark gift but as time went on he went a little coo coo for coco puffs & he looked for a the perfect companion to share his immense wealth with so it suggest that lestat was his final experimentation to make the perfect vampire who could in many ways break the mold. Someone who was an immortal with a mortals passion. Couple that with a key moments lestat is leaving out magnus witness lestat doing something that showed magnus lestat had the endurance to go on /bravery most didn’t and that’s what really convinced him to do what he did turning him. As for the killing himself it’s up to interpretation the one most book readers go with is possibly out of shame knowing he could never be a proper companion /teacher to lestat due to his insanity
There healing is shit in this show
Why is Louis black or mixed that doesn't make sense
I don't think it matters
C”mon it’s 2024 you have to throw in DEI 😂
@@mjbelle23 he is supposed to be a french aristocrat from the 1600s, dumb dumb. "It's 2024 so let's be idiots" is what you're saying
immortal lestat vs immortal klaus mikaelson who winner ?
Are you kidding me??? Klaus would DESTROY Lestat
Tom Cruise. Every time.
Well Klaus is a hybrid so I think he would win especially since you need a rare weapon to fully kill him
I’m going with Lestat in full power mode. I think they’d be BFF’s tho, and Louis & Elijah would be constantly trying to keep them in check 😂
Lestat was invented first. The others are cheap knockoffs by comparison.
Why Magnus did and immediately jumped in a fire right after leaving Infant vampire Lestat. Alone and scared. Then Lestat bought the theater he used to work at…and then he hands it over to Armand after Lestat and his mother disband Armand’s Little coven of Satan worshipping vampires…welcome!
Us AMC+ subscribers got robbed for the Walking Dead because they decided to push the finale episode to November 20th instead of November 13 which is freaking STUPID. I’ve got school tomorrow and this is just a slap in the face in my opinion, we payed money for seeing episodes early on AMC+ and now we have to wait next Sunday. I get that they don’t want any spoilers coming out to people, but the thing is, you can just avoid it or have AMC remind anybody not to spoil anyone who has regular AMC, I mean, who wants to look at spoilers anyways?! I’ll believe it when I see it later tonight at 9 o clock.
Everybody in this story is a victim
It’s almost the only thing they got right in the series
Magnum P.I. made him
I know he's lying.
He’s not lol
Him sitting there with injuries is complete BS and goes against everything in the books. Why do people ruin good stories with their garbage interpretations?
If a small thing like that is ruining this incredible show for you.... Well that's kind of crazy! They don't never get injured, they just heal quickly. If it's a few hours later then yeah, it makes sense he still has visible marks
Ah surly you don't fully believe the father of lies. Probably 80-85% true with a healthy dose of lie to keep them in the dark.
In the book the story is even darker he made it less worse actually 😅
Actually, that’s pretty true I read the second book
@@manonattanasio6541 can you explain? ive never read the books and now im curious 🤔
@@yoongitrash2699 well the essence is the same, but it's actually the aftermath that he's down playing. It's gonna be heartbreaking when we (hopefully) see this on screen
It’s actually true, he just left out much darker details but he’s telling the truth 100%
check out that diversity
Just read the books.
Lestat NEVER told them!!!! He only told when he had written his book! This series, for REAL IWTV fans, makes me angry. Again, why does people say this was so effin "accurate" to the book????? Did they read the books???? This series should be called something else!
I refer to this version as the “Kelvin Timeline” version of Interview With The Vampire.
I read the books, and this is more accurate than the movie, the way they handle change in this show is fascinating as instead of making changes that takes away story elements and drains it it instead, adds to the story and adds interest equally to the original. They have already said this isn’t 100% true to the books before it released as they wanted their own take on it but Anne rice was a huge part of this project before she died so she knew what changes would happen.
yawn I felt nothing, this "Lestat," if you wanna call him that, deserve it. And I HATED that they didn't make Claudia kill him. I thought the movie was less dark than the book, but this series made the movie more dark, especially letting a little actress kill him, they can't even let this grown a** actress do that! This should be called another title not Interview With The Vampire. And I really hated that Lestat said that he loved Louis, so early, way to ruin the feels, like I felt reading the books. He never said that to his face until the third book!!!! This series is trash! Watch the movie and not QOTD movie, that movie was trash too (except Aaliyah, she was awesome playing Akasha), watch Interview With The Vampire movie, it was way more accurate, especially Tom Cruise's Lestat. Even the queen of vampire herself approved that Tom's version was, and still is (my opinion), close to HER character that she wrote!
Lol tom cruise was the wrong actor to use, this new guy is much better.
@Lee Brown nah it was well deserved to be put out there. stating facts isn't a temper tantrum. I know you kids don't get that and its a lame ass desperate counter to use, but one day you will. Or wont and fade away from society hopefully. 🤡
If you like akasha and Queen of the damned then it's dead right obvious that your taste is complete Trash. Sam Reid's character portrayal of lestat is flawless.
The show is actually more accurate than the movie, as much as I adore the movie im a huge book fan and the show did change a lot but instead of taking away elements they added onto the story which made it even more interesting, Anne rice didn’t want Tom cruise as lestat, Sam Reid is amazing as him and embodied his character so accurately. The Queen of the Damned movie is awful, don’t watch it. Also, the reason why the show portrays lestat saying “I love u” earlier is because thats what Anne rice wanted in the first book to begin with, she just couldn’t portray queer relationships without subtext until the second book and beyond. The interview with the vampire movie is amazing but its far from accurate, killing Daniel Malloy at the end (using this as an example) is far from accurate as his character becomes a much larger role to play, I do agree with some things you are saying (as it is your opinion and you have a right to that) but I’m also stating from what I’ve seen and my thoughts, I have nothing against what you said!
That movie was straight washed and Brad Pitt was literally cardboard. This is 100 times better.
So according to the logic of both fans and producers, a black pimp, a profession one has to actively pursue, is less offensive than a white guy who inherited his slaves and actually tried to treat them as people and not property. That makes no sense, i hope Anne was paid well for her integrity.
No one said it was less offensive. The timeline was moved to later so why would he be a slave owner in that era? And he became a pimp because his father lost the family's wealth so he needed a way to provide for his family in a way they were accustomed to. You just want to logic police why they made Louis African American. The books still exists.
I just can't sympathize with a slave owner. Louis owning slaves turned me off on his character completely when I watched the movie like why would I give a fuck about someone whos participating in one of the most barbaric trades in all human history lmao he can die for all I care. In the TV series he's doing what he has to do for his family, and because of the nature of his birth and his families status he took advantage of the options given to him in a super hyper specific and tense period of time. He also talks about how he hates the profession he's in during the church confession. Show Louis is much more layered than movie Louis and I actually care about him.
this show is so bad. Sad
This show is such BS. Changing everything. Let me guess everything in the book was not good enough for the writers. They thought they could do better.... right. It's a classic and you raped it. Just like Netflix and the Witcher this show will crash and burn.
This comment is such bs lol.
@Lee Brown but this is not change this is taking a beautiful story and then peeing all over it because the writers think they can do a better job they keep doing this over and over again and you people just eat it up so enjoy your crap sandwich
The changes aren’t bad at all, they add to the story instead of taking away elements which makes it interesting, they still keep in so much more than the movie did and pull you in for more, also this entire scene is very true to the books as the character he’s talking about is from the second book. You have to remember this series is for the entire chronicles, not just one book, references to other books will be made
Its in its 2nd season and going strong 😊
Sam Reid Was So Gorgeous In This.
Luv Tara
