I re-torqued my valve cover and stopped the leak. I think over the time the heat cycles on the plastic valve cover cause it to loose tightness.
I'll be keeping and eye on it but at his point that seemed to address the leak for now.
I really appreciate it. The step-by-step points are great. It would be nice if you had some sort of tripod or stand and could take a time lapse of the process as you go through it. Just an idea for the future, hope to see more of your stuff less often because my car doesn't need the work 🙂
Hey Bro! Thank you for the help I have a hyundai accent 2017 and made it my task to change the valve cover gasket. I was stuck in removing the fuel line step and did get splashed by gas because did not remove the fuse first and crank the ignition. Luckily I found your and it helped me out lots. Thank you!!
Great video. I'll add to use something plastic to pry the cover open with. I used a screwdriver and ruined the engine
Couple things. It is not necessary to remove the line with the clip from the fuel pump. It's flexible and you can just pop the pump out of the way to the right and it will hold there. With the line with the nut, just place a rag under the line and crack it loose. There will be a few drips of fuel, but it won't spray everywhere. Also, it is not necessary to remove the coils from the harness. In fact with them attached, they hold the harness out of the way for you and no bungee is needed.
Thank you
Did this fix the problem bof oil on the plugs in the combustion chamber
If you loosen the stainless steel fuel line you have to replace it or it will leak later.
Probably a stupid question but what do you use to clean up the cover and parts before you reassemble?
Brake cleaner works good for me and maybe some tub o towels wipes
How much do I save doing this myself vs a mechanic
That would depend on the labor rates in your area. The job calls for about an hour to do
The check engine light is on.
Check engine light was on prior to service on this one
