> but no one noticed how great Ian Paice was there Good point! Honestly, I saw their performances thousand times(it's my favourite band) but only now I noticed how really cool Roger Glover is. Gentle, "simple", but always in key and on time.
Z Purplami jestem już 45 lat i wciąż znajduję coś nowego.. mogę słuchać godzinami! pewnie powiecie że nie jest to best band of every... Ale... Ritchie!, Ian, Jon, Roger... są niesamowici! [chyba oni stworzyli najwięcej klasycznych rockowych riffów at all...?]
I see a lot of critics on the posts. What were you doing in 1970? I am pretty sure not this... Incredible performance, which shows the brilliance that is Deep Purple.
How fortunate we are to re-live performances like this. I continue to search for more Mk2 Purple but seem to come to a dead end. Surely there must be more in the archives somewhere. I find the early Mk2 stuff so wonderfully inspiring and an inspiration for all creative musicians. I also keep seeing photographers running around in the background as well and I'd love to be able to see some of their photos from this gig and others like it. This is a call out to all videographers and photographers of this period - blow the dust off your work and let the world see more of this wonderful music being played live.
I've got a tape of this take (and Mandrake Root), sped up - yes, even faster! - marked "Bilzen 1969". That performance is now available, so it's great to know what this actually is. Thanks.
Wring That Neck (LIVE 1970 PARIS) Deep Purple 1970 (Mark II): Jon Lord - Organ Roger Glover - Bass Ian Paice - Drums Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar (Ian Gillan - Vocals)
He did use a Hornby Scewes treble booster between the strat and his amp, though. Since the 335 has hotter pickups, I'm not sure if he engaged the treble booster whith that, though.
john Richardson - It was an AC30 disguised in Marshall tolex and grille cloth. He used that for quite a while on stage after this, and frequently in the studio.
Yes his tone is not as thick as it was at Bilzen with the same guitar. Way more high end to so yes probably only going through the Vox although the Marshall light is on it's only for looks.
I think angus young has a collection of deep purple vinyl at home it seems a little the same perfomance but it isn t bad deep purple i think were a. Little fans of dp ok
To my knowledge 60's-70's plexi Marshalls could have some crazy overdrive if you cranked them enough. I am not all that intimately familiar with the guitar though so it's possible I'm mistaken.
Ritchie is playing through his old AC30 here. Cranked, possibly with a treble booster in front. He said it got encased it in a Marshall-made cabinet. Purple was a Marshall endorser and Vox was a competing brand. Marshall's idea, no doubt.
@Shagofull es heißt es gibt keine dumme Fragen,.. ich sage,.. es gibt wirklich keine dumme Fragen, sondern nur völlig bescheuerte und dumme Fragensteller,..
Deep Purple fans always make me think of 40 year old virgins living in their moms basement and smoking weedajuanna out of a bong. The also listen to KISS and they play Magic the gathering. And they are into Larping. They look like Napoleon Dynamites brother Kip. Time after time this seems to be the case.
Such an incredible performance! Man, I'd give everything just to be part of the crowd at this very gig! Deep Purple - truly legends, no, Gods of Rock!
It's funny how Ritchies's most well known guitar riff is probably the simplest thing to learn on guitar, yet he can play this insanely good
My favourite guitarist.
what an amazing moment, fortunately recorded for those of us unlucky enough to not have been able to have been there
Everyone is talking about Ritchie, but no one noticed how great Ian Paice was there
Nikita Simonchuk Jon is mentioned as much as Ritchie in the comments
> but no one noticed how great Ian Paice was there

Andrej Istomin It's true. Bass has always been so underrated (it's said that some people can't notice it) :/
Never will forget. I saw DP live in 1985 at Alpine Valley. Ian Paice did a drum solo after the third song.
Cheeky as fuque.
Or Roger Glover

One of my favourite DP performances.... Love Ritchie's playing.
5 awesome musicians who are far far above from their time

the first guitar virtuoso , speed, mágic, styles like jazz, rock, blues, folk.. blackmore is from other planet.
I replay until 2.10 so many times , for almost 3 hours .. i'm addicted sob2
I hear bits of Lazy and The Mule in Ritchie's solos here, years before they got written.
And I hear the into of Sixteen Century Greensleeves from Rainbow's On Stage album at 7:35. Obviously Ritchie's beloved theme.
Perfect Purple 100%
i am so bummed i will never see this live

IMPRESSIONANTE...
God save Deep Purple..
6:27 - it's a shame that when they did Made In Japan they already forgot to put those groovy jazz/blues solos in their songs.
why? I think they dedicated a separated composition for such a solo :) Called "Lazy".
Oh, and the amp is a 200 watt Major, which in itself is a lot cleaner than a Super Lead, as it has an ultra linear output stage configuration.
AMazing
Wring That Neck (LIVE 1970 PARIS)
Deep Purple 1970 (Mark II):
Jon Lord - Organ
Roger Glover - Bass
Ian Paice - Drums
Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar

Neon Knight do you have a brother named Napoleon?
richie seems to have a lot of fun here
Who are these 8 dislikers? Steve Morse fans?
Jon Blackers they must be mate! The one and only Ritchie Blackmore loved Tommy Bolin too Morse is boring
He did use a Hornby Scewes treble booster between the strat and his amp, though. Since the 335 has hotter pickups, I'm not sure if he engaged the treble booster whith that, though.
Would love to buy a DVD with some great stuff like this ......where did you find this? it's amazing !!!!
I don't know everybody lawds over Ritchie Blackmore but sort of ignores Jon Lord who without both there would be no Deep Purple
Gênios...
still like to hear Ritchie with the Gibson........wb
6:29 он чайлд ин тайм играет (Child in Time)
how fucking good jon lord was
So good old Richie sounds like Page wow!!! How do you figure that 2 absolutly different types of playing Richie is Richie and Pagey is Pagey
Richie was the founder of all that now you calls the hard-rock.
7:18 what is he playing? sounds awesome...
Unicossssssss
Anybody notice that Ritchie has a amp on the floor thats probably a AC30 that has 2 mic infront of it.
john Richardson - It was an AC30 disguised in Marshall tolex and grille cloth. He used that for quite a while on stage after this, and frequently in the studio.

Jazz or rocken roll?
Santiago Sanchez Vasquez Rock n' fucking roll!!
Actually, both.
Deep Purple!
Jazz?
does he uses only the pentatonic? or is there any other scale being used on these solos?
He normally plays a cross between minor pentatonic scales and harmonic minor heptatonic scales, and that's what he's doing here.
blues scale mixed with natural and harmonic minor scale plus a bunch of chromatic notes.
Definitely chromatic there too.
Perfection ani't eazy
Blackmore on a Gibson ???? :O
guys, i don't think it's just the guitar into the amp, that Gibson don't have that sound

You can see it plainly @ 0:50. It's miked. Looks like Marshall construction but without a Marshall logo.
oh thanks mate! really apreciate
@Alessandro Friche I can still tell it's Ritchie from his note selection and especially from his phrasing.
Where was Ian Gillan?
It's an instrumental.
gillian aint important :)
Back in the dressing room with a "special" guest from the audience.
Don't be silly....Ritchie was Ritchie and Jimmy was Jimmy....simple
Ritchie Blackmore sounds more like Jimmy Page than Jimmy Page sounds like Jimmy Page.
@ 4:00 it reminds me of the Heartbreaker solo.
yngwie eat your heart out
Ritchie Blackmore sounds like only Blackmore can play and no one else!
*****
Rickee blakemore sound like the LIDDLE GIRL that cry cry like THE BAYBY squack squack
Think how fucking you want

Blackmore 51 % - Page 49 %
@Shagofull es heißt es gibt keine dumme Fragen,.. ich sage,.. es gibt wirklich keine dumme Fragen, sondern nur völlig bescheuerte und dumme Fragensteller,..
Jon needs to slow down. Not even Ritchie can keep up with him at the beginning.
How come Richie playing went to shit after purple
Deep Purple fans always make me think of 40 year old virgins living in their moms basement and smoking weedajuanna out of a bong. The also listen to KISS and they play Magic the gathering. yeah Kiss and deep purple. duh really dude? and whatever Magic the lantern is, obviously you know.
R.O.A. The only thing Deep Purple and Kiss have in common is..... Actually nothing.
KISS sucked. This version of Purple ruled. No way I would be caught listening to KISS.
