Nothing convincing that these verses are from a higher power though......nothing transcendent like the bible or even Buddhas sayings. Is there anything from Islam that comes close? Not that I have seen so far.......even philosophers quotes are better than this. No statement of truth that hits you in your soul, nothing powerful to guide you to want to do good because it demonstrates without doubt why it's essential to do so......
SRK Bae What made you think I hate Islam? I do think it's the worst of the existing religions though. Just wondering if there is anything that is intelligent or wise in its texts at all, what do people see in it since there is nothing that i have seen to be attracted to it. Just lots of claims of how perfect and great it is......when in actual fact it's got a lot of flaws, most extreme practices......mixes politics with personal spirituality which, historically is a very bad idea, one of the worst in fact in outcomes......so many errors in understanding other religions and copying of other known man made texts as coming from God as revelation........so there is no doubt Islam is the worst religion with the most delusional dangerous adherents.
But I'm alway looking to challenge my ideas on things. If you have any better quotes you could point me to, that would be great. I have been reading imam Ali's quotes and they seem better.....not great either, with some bad ones as well but some of the best I've read from islams early days.....technically not from islams religious texts...they were better than muhammads or allahs words though........

This year Ramdhan is going to be a great disaster for the people living in the island of Sri Lanka due to continuous power cut, gas difficulties, high cost of living and many other food items that are very high in prices.
Let's think about the poor and needy people, how they are going to survive in the month of Ramadan? Instead of talking it's far better to meet and help them in whatever way we can.
Ifthar time there is power cut. Morning suhur time there is power cut. Ifthar and suhur are to be handled in the dark. What a painful disaster is this? It's the first time in history such a frightening frustrations are are going to happen.
So the Muslims going to face endless difficulties in this ramadhan. The Muslims should think and understand that Allah's anger is falling down.
Allah should protect and safeguard all the Muslims.

None of there were meant to be one liner quotes but rather part of a larger passage. Nor were they exceptional compared to the other six thousand verses.
Take the second example for example. It was a consolation to the prophet (learning his life makes it easier) mentioning His favours on him and that he should also be good to those in the same situtation he was. (note that the word translated as petitioner here can mean both those who ask questions and begs money in other words both those who may be lost and poor).
{Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge? And He found you lost and guided [you], And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient. So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him]. And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him]. And as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].} (Surah duha, 6-11)
Or the one about life. It was to focus on hereafter (whereas the achievements in this world becomes meaningless as one becomes old/yellow and dies). It is more understandable if the detailed version is read. (Also the arabic word for both tillers and disbelievers are kuffar so the parable in arabic has more effect with the pun. Also note that the plant grows with rain which ties with the following verses of not boasting by which Allah gave according to destiny which i didnt mention because it will get long).
{Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion.} (Surah hadid, 20)
Or the one about burden, it is best appreciated by a muslim who believes in the duty of fulfilling obligations to Allah.
{Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."} (Surah baqarah, 286)
And they really dont have the same effect as the original language. The rhyme and rhytm for example which enhances the effect is completely lost. Precisions of the arabic words (i pointed two but i could have pointed more) are lost.

This results, just to pick an obvious example, in all sorts of people who claim religious warrant not to get vaccinated in a fashion that endangers my family. But, of course, that is just the most recent example. It is also why my female comrades in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan are treated as chattel and why there is always this terrible push to teach creationism in schools.

The bible was created from great literary stories from the ages before it, an amalgamation of important transcendent narratives to aid the human condition.
