Oh what a bummer with the Orion. I think I had the exact same issue on my first Orion Gen 1 like ten years ago. I solved that by just uninstalling the drivers and it worked flawlessly for some reason haha. I got the Gen 4 in February and it's been solid all the way. Don't really remember the issues with finding the software stuff. But yeah a lot of companies has really unintuitive websites. I don't fuck around with chasing stuff often so when I do It's allways a hassle trying to figure out where all different plugins are registered and licensing and all that. Great video!
I have had the exact same experiences with the exact same Antelope interface. I really hate Antelope now. It's been a very, very negative experience. I'm so tired of hearing influencers pretending it's great, but they obviously don't use it themselves. Good video.
ohhh you don't even know how much I would love to create custom firmware, driver and control software for antelope devices and share it opensource to flash your antelope and bring to this cool hardware new life.
I mean, go for it! I’m sure folks would appreciate it and it would be a welcome upgrade from whatever is floating around on the Antelope website. Unfortunately for me, that time has come and gone and I’m happier for it. But knock yourself out!
Mine didn't want to work, although I did everything in order. Then I found that post on Reddit where the guy write that you should download app for gen 3 and with it everything fell into place. As I understand it is connected with different revisions of interfaces, but why not write about it on the web site? Otherwise, the interface is cool, it really sounds well and virtual patchbey is amazing.
Can you use all the inputs from the interface to the daw via Dante? What would I miss out on if I didn’t have thunderbolt but I did have a 2.5 gig Ethernet port on the back of my pc
That's an interesting idea! I suppose that if you were ok with every default setting of the interface you could run Dante virtural soundcard on your PC and treat it like another network device. That idea is UNTESTED and just my best guess. What you'd loose is any functionality beyond that. The Rednet control app, any monitoring or routing option and firmware updates are all done vie the thunderbolt bus (or HDX if that's your flavor). And setting up what virtual channels get routed to monitors and things like that really do require the use of the control app. Overall, IMO I would not recommend that. You'd be loosing out on way too much of control of the interface.
Damn that sucks. My orion 32+ gen 3 works damn well except once in a while I need to do a hard power recycle but I have it on a wifi outlet for that so I can do it from my phone.
That's the classic Antelope experience. It works until it doesn't and when it doesn't, there is barely to no support. They make great hardware, but they should stop releasing new interfaces every year which kills off the last gen ones and start actually taking care of their customers and fix the interfaces before ending its life cycle.
@@annekedebruyn7797 I havent had to contact support in like two years after they swapped my first unit for me because it had hardware issues. Oh actually I recently asked them if it was OK to move to sequoia yet and they got back to me in 24 hours. Not saying they are the greatest though thats for sure. YMMV!
bla bla bla... bad product.... bla bla bla no headphones ouput... bla bla bla I am a tech guy credability. Well maybe the problem was related to your computer? a Ye, bla bla bla bad software.... bla bla bla the support didn't answer my phone, but then I get in touch with them and they fixed my problem by downgrading the driver.... bla bla bla but then I decide to update the driver and see what is going to happen... bla bla bla... I like Focusrite. Thank you, you are dismissed. P.S. bla bla bla compare the price of this rednet to Orion32+ Gen.4. Also Rednet dynamic range of dante 119db vs 129 for Orion? AMAZING CONVERTERS DUDE, AMAZING :D
@thegeneralhoudini and @VladBornuz while that makes me feel a little better that I'm not the only one having these issues, what a bummer right? I'm sure none of us bought that box thinking it was going to be a failure. Just crippled by bad software. Too bad.

My gen 3 works great for years now. Its a MEGA BEAST. It can be a little finicky once in a while but for the most part pretty rock solid!
@@osandsI’ve heard this before too! That the gen 3 is great.
So my question is, what happened?!
@@ifitsoundsgood the first unit I got had channels that bled audio into other channels. New unit is perfect.

Is your studio in a shed? If so, looks great!
Thanks very much! Yes it is in a shed. I really hope to do a video series soon about it and how it came about.
nice video! and yeah, same experience with Antelope...worst decision ever, and just because I trusted the influencers on YT
