Slice of life animes also cost less to create because they generally do not have those battles or are not high action packed.

Not necessarily, they are not mutually exclusive. A slice of life can have battles. Example, a character going on with their life then they encounter a battle. A battle is not necessarily physical. It can be verbal, social, political or any kind imaginable.

Great video! Slice-of-Life is a genre I hadn't really put much thought into in years. I actually worked on a concept for a slice of life comic WAAAAAY back when I was in college. Basically, it was an extremely autobiographical comic about a recent college grad maneuvering the trials and tribulations of trying to find work in the art field of the late 90s. Unfortunately, it was a lot harder getting published back then, so nothing really came of the idea. Now, with the advent of Amazon KDP, and other such platforms, I'm seriously considering dusting off the old book and seeing if I can make it fly.

Thank you so much!! Slice of life is such a fun genre with so many different ways to write it. I love the concept of your comic, and I think it would be amazing if you were able to publish it now! Thank you again for watching, and I'm really happy you enjoyed the video. 😊

Hey thanks for this video! I'm a creator of a slice-of-life/psychological manga about two best friends, one an emotional fashion designer and the other is a rational writer. I wanted to write about the heart vs. mind relationship/conflict and I decided to present that through these two guys whose rough upbringing led each to go to one extreme over the other.
I love the slice of life genre even though the abundance of slice-of-life anime that focuses on cute female students doing cute things kinda blurred what the genre really is.
I'm currently writing an essay/talk about the importance of this genre in this day and age and it's exactly about the last part of your video and it made me smile because many forget how helpful a good slice of life story is in making the reader appreciate life in all it's mundanity.

Thank you so much! Your manga sounds awesome, and definitely the kind of series that I would enjoy. I really love stories that focus on the psychological aspects and the thoughts behind a character's actions. These types of elements are really important in slice of life, because life is made up of many moments, good and bad, and all of those moments make up a person.

I have a weird idea for a slice of anime where the MC was a gigachad man who were a dick to female (toxic masculinity).
But then he was cursed by a witch (attractive one) where he slowly becomes a female himself (specifically a high school/middle school girl).
He didn't realize it at first but after months, he notice that his hair is falling off (chest hair, leg hair, beard, mustache), his dick shrunk, his body become smaller and his voice becomes higher, more feminine.
He visits doctor often but the doctor don't know what causes this weird phenomenon (it's unknown). Doc couldn't do anything about it.
He's a regular gym goer so he notice that he can't lift heavier weight anymore and people around him look at him funny (including women).
Until one day, he becomes a girl, he had to face harsh reality of what it's like to be a female (long journey, character development etc)
    The curse is irreversible.
I'm still thinking about the construction of the story and lore everyday (in progress) and I'm excited about writing this... thanks for the video! I'll try applying what I learn

Hi there! I'm gonna be honest and say I'm not really a writer, I haven't written much before in terms of stories, and for me coming up with new ideas is very hard (I don't know if its something to do with my brain or if I'm just in a creative block). But I just want to say thank you for this video, Recently the idea of a slice of life story taking place in 1980's Japan about a group of game developers making games kind of popped into my head, and I came here for some advice on writing. I still don't have any characters, ideas for any story arcs, or anything really except a general idea, but thank you for this video, I'll maybe try writing a bit for fun. I'm kind of "afraid" of writing right now because I know I don't have the skills to pull off what I have in my head, but maybe I'll just rewrite some parts of it in the future when I have more practice. Anyways thank you

I kinda wanna suggest some ideas for your next videos if that's okay?
1 How to make a manga/light novel/comic about an anthropomorphized character (and by that I mean literally any kind of item or substance or something else you could think of but turned into a human, not furries)
2 How to make a monster girl/boy manga/light novel/comic, unless there's already a video like this on the channel?

Do you have advice on how to mix light hearted aspects with serious action in a cohesive way?
For some background; my sci fi world is inspired by lots of 80's and 90's action cartoons with a mix of some 00's and 2010's action cartoons. My world has transforming vehicles, mechas, alien robots, unique individuals and mercenaries and all kinds of stuff. Sorry if this doesn't give enough background for proper advice but i hope you could lend me some advice anyway. Thanks!

I would create a comedy relief character. A character like this can help to bring lighthearted comedy to situations. You can also create situations that would lead to comical results, such as your characters having to wear an embarassing disguise, or putting characters together that don't get along!

The beginning can definitely be tough to start with. Sometimes, I find it helpful to start from the middle, and work my way backwards. The beginning can sometimes make more sense once you start at a later point! 😊
