omg....few days ago I legit spent almost half an hour solving the advanced type of questions. I HATED solving those equations. Now I enjoy it sm 😀😀😀 surprise surprise, learning from the basic do wonders.
Currently taking the integral calculus summerclass in mechanical engineering and the trigo seems so hard to absorb in just small span of days but you're videos always making things so much clear and straight to the point. I will be forever thankful to this channel as it helped me to understand mathematics and science in my highschool years up until my college life now.
It was at 17:47. I am perplexed. Why can't we just substitute sinx with u, find the antiderivative of that, and end up with 1/3 sinx^3? Why do we have to go through the hassle of using the power-reducing formula and converting it into terms of cos? I always thought we could put it into terms of whichever was the easiest, which in this case is sin. This really doesn't make sense to me.
at 14:00 why can't we split up sin instead? Does it work to do (1-cos^2)^2 for sin^4 and then have cos^3 and the other sign left? Then we could use u as cos and cancel the other sin out?
@@vigoolz241 I did it but the answer is not the same. If you input the answer to a drawing system they follow the same path but with the cosine its -1/24 lower than the with the sin version at all times. So the answer is incorrect...
at 30:25 he uses the rule that (1/x)=lnx, but isnt this rule only meant for linear equations? cosx is not a ljnear equation so we shoulnt be able to use it at all, or is there an exception when we use the u-substitution method?
I would recommend going the extra step in some of your less popular videos and include more difficult problems towards the end. I would have been very happy to see a sec^2 x integration in this video. Keep it up though, overall you do a fantastic job with your videos.
Thank you professor. Integrate (sin^5 X cos^3 X dx) at 15:00 what about if you split sin^5 X to give you ( sinX sin^4 X ) instead of cos^3 X and make ( u= cos X). Here what I figured out is that whichever you make (u to b equal to) is the one to be on the final answer after integrating. I got (-1/4 cos^4 X + 1/3 cos^6 X - 1/8 cos^8 X + c) as my answer. Can you explain me why the two methods show different answer please
For cos raised to some power m multiplied with sin raised to some n, you can also simply use Wallis formula, it will save a lot of time, you will come across this formula in first year maths, or in 11/12th grade if you’re a jee student.
I think that when the same variable has different exponents, you need to treat these two as different variables. We learn that the exponent makes a difference in the variable since when we learn about polynomials, I think maybe it might arise from something similar. However, I recommend you search further into this topic, I'm not even in highschool yet
At 16:22 how do you know when to make sin^2(x) equal 1/2(1-cos^(2x)) or when to leave at as (1-cos^2(x))? I'm really curious to know. Thank you in advance for your help.
Because we do not know the integral of sin²x, we only know the integral of the following trigonometric functions: ∫ sinx dx = -cosx + c ∫ cosx dx = sin + c ∫ secx dx = ln|secx + tanx| ∫ cscx dx = -ln|cscx + cotx| ∫ tanx dx = -ln|cosx| + c ∫ cotx dx = ln|sinx| + c In addition to 4 other integrations ,Therefore, any conjunction other than them, we need to convert to one of them. How? Through the Trig Identities you have to save them

At 15:16 why couldn't you subtract u^5-u^7 and find the antiderivative of that? I think it wouldn't give you the same answer but I'm not sure.
