    Brother Halverson my wife and I only recently discovered your podcast. As we listen and then discuss your lessons together, we realize that it is bringing us amazing spiritual insights, and even more importantly causing us to thirst after the doctrines contained in the Book of Mormon. We realize that we are being changed and are beginning to approaching life differently and more purposefully.
    Thank you for giving so much of yourself in teaching and testifying of Our Savior. Our faith is growing in Him and we are becoming “unshaken” in our faith in the Redeemer. We so much want to become His people and to look forward to His gift of eternal life. And for your part in facilitating this process, you are very much loved and appreciated! May the Lord bless you and your family for all your efforts.

    Thanks again, Brother Halverson. Studying with you every morning. You are a great tutor. I know that whole "soul expansion" feeling you taught today! Before learning about The Restoration, Christianity felt constricted to just The Bible just a church sermon. Now God is closer. It feels like taking a deep breath after only being allowed small, shallow breaths. Such a great analogy. Lung Capacity!

    • @Unshaken
      @Unshaken  3 роки тому

      I'm so grateful that the analogy resonated with you. It reminds me of another one that Isaiah uses in Isa. 28:20, about a bed that is too short to stretch out on, and a blanket that is too narrow to wrap up in. Such great metaphors for things that don't allow us to stretch to our full potential. The Restored Gospel, with its promise of eternal progression, is the biggest bed and the broadest towel imaginable!

    Brother Halverson, you requested that we share something we learn, but as you speak and the spirit testifies of truth, I feel as though I already knew these things. These lessons are helping me to "remember." I've had many experiences which testify of the divinity of Christ and I've seen His merciful hand in my life on many occasions. I desire to arise from the dust and repent, to be free from the chains of the flesh which bind me. You mentioned in Alma 7:19 "I perceive that ye are making His paths straight..." When I contemplate the idea of living a life which will make it easier for Christ to come unto all, my heart rejoices. My greatest desire is to share that which brings the greatest joy -- love and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is love, and so much more. Thank you

I'll bet you never thought people would be viewing a year later. Thank you so much.... I never saw the past, present and future before so difficult to place the warnings and the blessings. Taking time to reflect on what I personally need to retain in remembrance helped me feel humbled and grateful for all the Lord has done for me. It made me think of Elder Renlund’s talk this last conference about how Heavenly Father and Jesus want us to remember and be grateful, not for Their own benefit, but because of the impact our remembrance has on us. Thank you for these wonderful lessons!!

    I think Jacob clarified why he needed to do more than just the minimum of overcoming death and hell. 2Ne 9:20-22 helps clarify in addition to what you shared in Alma 7:11-12. "For he knoweth all things and there is not anything save he knows it. He cometh into the world ... he suffereth the pains of all men, every living creature, both men, women, and children... and he suffereth this ... that all might stand before him at the great and judgement day". He had to so that he could 1) know and understand what we feel (knoweth all things), and 2) stand before us and justly & mercifully advocate on our behalf with a full knowledge of our situation, thoughts, feelings, and pains. He can have that perfect empathy having experienced the same pains we would experience. Who better to advocate for us than one who has been through what we have been through?

    Another great lesson, Jared. This is a pretty daunting task you've undertaken, and you're doing amazing. I appreciated your reference to Elder Scott's being similar to Alma. Like you, I used to chuckle whenever Elder Scott spoke in Conference, since he always seemed to be staring through the camera at me. But as I have reconnected with his talks, they are powerful. Been a lot of hullabaloo on social media regarding the church and the priesthood. I don't struggle with it, but do you have insights into the mind and will of the Lord there?
    Also I've seen a lot of people mentioning how it used to be written that the curse was a darkening of skin and premortal stuff and then it gets removed or disavowed if it was past prophets sharing their opinions. I would like help explaining that prophets can have opinions too and be wrong, but when they are acting as mouthpiece they are on point.
