My pre-order delivery keeps getting pushed back. When I spoke to Samsung, they said "we only expected about 300,000 pre-orders but we received 990,000 pre-orders" 😯
This is absolutely awesome. If only it had a 120hz refresh rate, I think this would be the perfect display for a lot of people out there.
It's not available in India
a lot of people don’t need 120hz and wouldn’t even notice a difference.
@@jatoac You're right with that but once you've had it, there's no going back. 👍🏻
@@jatoac Sub 120Hz display is worthless in 2022.
Yes some can't notice but most people can. And if they say they can't, they haven't seen one yet.
@@PeterHughes I have a 120Hz monitor and yet I can go back to 60Hz without a problem.
Great review as usual Tim! Been your follower since QBKing77 days!
Thanks for this. Went through a ton of monitor videos and I’m pretty convinced this is the one I want.
This is a complete solution for all my use cases. Can't wait to get my hands on one.
I’m extremely tempted to buy this. This is probably the best and more reasonably priced monitors I’ve seen.
just get the M7 for half price and get the insta360 webcam instead. way better combo.
@@filip3148 Anything but the insta360
thanks for the this M8 review, this best M8 review so far, so detail. Thank you
Nice review Tim! Love it :)
Thanks a lot for the unboxing, such a very useful video!
Samsung stepping up the game love to see that
Samsung is going all out . A great video brother. Keep up the good work
I feel like a huge missing component about the studio display that doesn’t get enough mention is that it only allows 1 device input. I could never get a monitor that doesn’t easily allow me to plug in multiple computers/game consoles/etc. that’s a big plus for the M8
Great video keep it up 👍
What an awesome product I'm definitely getting this👍
Same here 👍🏻
Good morning ! Thank you for this instructive video! I have a question: can this monitor be used for graphic design? If so (as Apple just released the overpriced Display + Studio screen and I need to replace my old 27'' IMac), I would like to know if it is possible to plug in the Samsung M8 screen to my 16'' MacBookPro? I would like to use it as a server. Are there enough connectors to connect the mcbook pro + an external hard drive + a keyboard? Thank you for your reply ! (sorry for my english !)
Love the right amount of thoroughness of your review, Tim. You’ve got yourself a new subscriber! Quick question - Did I heard right when you say the monitor will also charge the connecting laptop via cable? Considering M8 to be used with my MacBook, would you reckon it as a good combo?
Yes absolutely! I have the M7 version of this monitor, and it works perfectly with my Macbook. I use a thunderbolt cable solution, the monitor can charge up to 65 watts!
@@svg03 Got it, thanks for taking the time to respond. Appreciate your help!
I can't wait to get mines
Thank you for posting. I like your videos.
I'm dompted to buy one of these monitors i had been looking at loads of different ones and this has got to be the one for me so far
Hey! Thank you for the review!
Can you confirm if it has PIP or PBP? Also, what is the distance from the bottom of the monitor to the desk (where the monitor sits the highest)? I am asking this because i am a tall person and I am afraid it doesn't go high enough. Thanks
I'm guessing that for every Apple Studio Display sold, Samsung's going to sell 2-3 of these.
I don’t think so, but it’s a great bargain. Samsung would need to likely match the sales of the Mac Studio too, that fan base is pretty strong. I’m not sure how strong the monitor market alone compares…
@@MarsorryIckuatuna That's pretty easy to do. Samsung has more customers than Apple does, and with them always have the better less expensive options while also have more features, will surely bribe customers in their favor. 😌👍
Probably it's Samsung that produces the Studio Display,so they are selling some by their own :)
No way
@BHIM You don't know that. Maybe the panel is from BOE but Apple made the rest themselves, explains why it's overpriced.
Amazing man!
Recently bought a Lenovo monitor because it was a little better looking than the typical monitors to go with my Mac mini. Then this was announced and an even more perfect option…. This monitor might make me resell my Lenovo model
as someone who is using a 175Hz, 2K monitor at the moment and having used the M7 monitor previously, if this only had 120Hz it would be perfect for anyone doing mostly productive/casual gaming. Yes while it's true for people who have never used 120Hz before they'd never notice the difference but anyone who has used anything above 60H, going back you'd almost notice instantly and the difference is very stark.
I am so glad owning this fabulous m8.
This is exciting, id love to have a black mat colour
this was announced before the studio display. let’s all remember that.
Just a question, in case you connect through airplay, the keyboards and mouse needs to be connected to the Mac or they works directly to the connection to the monitor (same as when you connected through DEX). Thank you for the info. Very good Video ;)
Thanks!
Tim thank you for making this video. I have found my Samsung monitor. Oh yeahhhh. Stay safe brother.
This is a beast!
Good stuff Tim
It's always been Samsung😌
😍this is gorgeous!!!
Wow, what a product! I'm no expert, but this seems to be a far better monitor than even what Apple recently released.
Great review.
In the way of a normal user and not a PRO then this is a good monitor. Comparing it to the pro xdr display there is no competition. Also the pro xdr has a price according to what it actually offers in that price range at a real lower cost.
Awesome video and review.
Just a Q: Does the webcam has an inbuilt mic?
surely has, may be u haven't watched the whole video, cz it has Alexa built in for voice commands so surely it has mics built in
@@TChowdhury00 The mic on the remote?
It looks amazing! Would any recommend for gaming? Nothing too heavy, I'm mainly trying to play Sims on the highest setting!
I'd love to see Samsung making a 32:9 version of their Smart Monitor lineup.
I am actually tempted to buy this... that doesn't happen often :D
You made a very beautiful video. I follow you from Senegal
Hey Tim, is there any way to do audio out from the monitor? Think you can use an adaptor from the usb c out port to audio jack? I’m trying to get audio out to my audio deck where I manage all my studio sound. Thoughts?
Thank you for this great review, Tim! Yes, I am seriously considering about 2 of these monitors for the price of Studio Display by Apple. I don't think I can live with 27-inch, $1500 screen estate; I'd rather go with 32 X 2 = 64-inch screen estate if it was the same price, plus more features. I don't care about the 5K resolution and built material. Cheers!
Impressive, if it had some kind of dock built in to fully take advantage of the USB-c connection it would be helpful
Could you attach an hub to the second usb C port? not sure about that, it would be great
BIG question: When connected to a Mac, how long does it take to respond when coming out of sleep mode? Apple Studio Display at the local Apple store wakes up immediately and I've heard that non-Apple monitors can take excessively long to respond.
My 43" M7 wakes up immediately with my 16" M1 MBP. Hopefully the new M8 will as well.
@@brucesyvertsen2147 Its almost Instant (My system : 16" M1 pro , M7 32")
just got the M8 and it responds immediatly!!
If you have Mac OS Monterey, can you please tell how well or not the M8 monitor integrates with Mac? I just got the new Mac Studio and considering M8 monitor as an option. Thanks.
I have an M7 43" that I am quite happy with. But if the new 32" M8 is any indication, I may have to pull out the old plastic money again for an M8 43" if that becomes available. It will be a toss up between that and a 42: LG 42" C2 Oled TV.
Awesome & Thanks :)
How does this monitor compare to the LG 32” ergo 4k monitor? I know it doesn’t have the same features but image quality wise?
Ok, I’m a convert! Nicely done Samsung👏👏👏
Incredible Monitor
Thanks so much, I’m trying to reach you by Direct message but can’t. I think you wouldn’t conveniently to ship me in Thailand.
Just curious what do you guys do with all this gadgets after their reviews?
I have a M7 version of this monitor. The ratio between the price and quality was excellent at that point of time.
After using a 32" monitor (M7&M8 are having the same format) I would opt in for 34" because I would be able to fit 3 browser windows in vertical mode. And if you sit close to the monitor, while working from home, the edges seem to be blurred a little bit and you need to reposition yourself to have a better view. I think maybe a curved screen could fix such distortion.
Nevertheless I appreciate such concept and like the design and functionality of these monitors.
Hi Friend. Any issues with M7 32 inch monitor? Can share your experience? TY.
@@Phuamt I have the m5 1080p 32 inch version wich doesnt have usb c but appart from that wgerything else works well. For casual use 1080p is good and the smart fewtures work smoothly. The speakers are better than some tv speakers but no bass.
@@zsoltpeterdaniel8413 . Thks for sharing:)
I'm definitely going to get me one soon. More so for College and etc
Thanks for them video, my monitor is snapping on to the stand as you mention, it doesn’t lock, when you tilt you see a gap?
Thanks Tim for reviewing the monitor. Most UA-camr will review iphone new colors and any monitor dey release heckveven review a micro fabric cleaning cloth but forget to talk about Samsung m8 monitor lol
I love the Samsung ecosystem
I wish they have 120hz with that beautiful 4k resoltion plus I want it vesa mounted so I can have it ontop of my gaming monitor so I can make my dream setup for content creation and gaming.
Interesting product, the stand looks wobby. I prefer the firm stand. Don't know if the arm stand would fit the monitor. Hmm. Anyone know the webcam MP? I seem can't find it in the specs section on Samsung's website. And, oohhh, I like blue! :)
Hi Thanks for the video. Can I control this monitor using my alexa echo dot. Like switch on and switch off monitor, change inputs and channels? Is this alexa compatible? I know it has alexa built-in but is working g with another alexa device like echo dot 3rd gen.?
How does it connect to the internet? Is there a built-in wifi antenna, etc? Thanks!👍🏽
This to me is like mega Godzilla. Honestly, I'm thinking about researching about it more and maybe purchase it if it suits my budget.
its around 700 us dollars i think
when airplaying from a MBP there is a huge lag with the cursor on the M display. Did you have to change any settings on the display?
Hi Tim,
How to use the slimfit camera as video call camera while using zoom/google meet with MacBook connected via cable? I was searching for an answer since days after the monitor is bought. no solutions found. Google duo is not available in Dubai, so that inbuild app also doesn't work.
Should work via USB - C. Restart\unplug monitor after plugging in. I had similar issue but with PC
I have the same color too, very disappointed with the very fragile build quality, I also have amazon fire stik at home and I was surprised that the remote control of the amazon fire stik works on the m8 monitor, turns off, turns on momitor raises and lowers the volume I was amazed! also the quality of the panel I was a little disappointed, a question, to tell you could you tell me if the remote control when you use it turns on the red led? I don't like it, the LED turns on only if it is charging and not while I use it, I saw that while you use it the LED turns on, could you confirm me? thank you
Very nice video
Wow sound like a great monitor to buy, did you mention the price? Also being that it brings all these other channels goes it works without having internet to what those channels and what about Netflix and other video streaming does it require internet or you can do it from your phone.
Looks to be $699 USD if you live in the U.S. Not sure about other region's prices.
UK price will probably be around the £700 mark.
This will be perfect for me in the UK. Our main TV channels are pathetic here. So all I need is my WiFi connection for it. Or even using my phone as a tethering hotspot (as I have unlimited data).
how about the color accuracy? compared to the macbook monitor. im a designer and photographer.. I dont care about color pop, vibrant or many more, i just need to see what the actual color is
One quick question - do you know if we can hang this on the wall - right out of the box?
I have been searching this around but came up with nothing.
Wish it came in black or grey and had a vesa mount, but overall super nice!
The vivo vesa mount adapter woul work on this... so its fine
@@MrMrREmm got a link?
Hi Tim. Thanks for this review. I just got my M8 monitor. Is there a way to get the Slimfit camera to work with my Mac mini? I can't seem to find a way for it to work with my Mac, just within the Samsung software.
Hi. Any luck on this? I want to buy it for use with my macbook.
@@leonpjhb me too
@@mtgne5351 I ended up getting the studio display. Very happy with it.

I have 2 SAMSUNG 32-inch M7 Smart Monitors, now I wish I had waited to get these. However, my monitors were dirt cheap because of their age.
The way the base snaps in to the back of the monitor is very unstable. When you tilt up the monitor (I don't recommend tilting the monitor), the half of connecting point are off the monitor us hanging just by 2 teeth. Besides this major flaw, this monitor packs a lot of features. I'm overall very happy minus the hinges.
The monitor is awesome. Would I be able to attach a monitor arm to it?
Damn, I have the M7 and this looks really good. A massive upgrade from the previous gen!
Yeah, this is a home run. The one thing is I’m not sure why they didn’t keep the full size HDMI port like the M7?
@@dalex7777 I noticed its micro HDM.
This would be great for my Xbox Series S/Mac Mini setup
do games run well on it? even when you're only using the monitor itself?
awesome! stuff samsung
Is there any kind of adapter to be able to mount this on a VESA mount?
I just received this monitor. I’ve attached my new Mac Mini to it via HDMI. But I can’t seem to access the webcam either with the Mac or just the monitor. Any suggestions? Is connecting the Mac via USB-C a better option than HDMI? Thank you for the review!!’
Im just saying, you can find this on Amazon in the used acceptable (which has almost always been looking new) for 395 dollars and that is so hard to beat
Does anyone know if the wireless keyboard and mouse connection to the monitor works when connected a PC over HDMI?
Is it possible to extend MacBook display to 2 such monitors, both via AirPlay?
Hi, a quick question does the monitor m8 come with a USB port or will a separate device be necessary for that? Thank you.
It's got a USB type C port.
Any idea when this will be available in India or a way to buy it in India currently?
My laptop is Asus Vivobook S15
It has USB 3.0 gen 1 ports and HDMI.
Can I use external 4K monitor by this laptop?
If yes then what will be the max video output?
I mean regulations & refresh rate.
Can this monitor be used with a MacBook Pro 2016 which only has lightening bolt slots?
Tim Schofield, is ready to use!
You want to get in USB Type c to jack?
Do you get a lot of apps on the m8 smart monitor?
nice ... 32inch very nice
i'm not very techy and sometimes stuff like this is difficult for me to understand so if anyone can help me out, i would definitely appreciate it. i saw it in the video but i just wanted some extra assurance that I can definitely use this as a second monitor to my macbook, right? like, while they're connected, i can have one window open on the mac and another on the m8....right?
yes, you can use it as a second monitor
What is the text image quality like? What is the productivity experience like over a day, typing, reading and sharing work. I get it is an awesome "TV" but how good a "monitor" is it. I feel like all the reviews seem to pass over this critical issue. I have a MacBook Air. What if any sacrifice am I making in terms of text quality if I use this as an external display for my device?
I have the latest gen 2 Samsung M7 (there was a gen 1 also). I am using it with my 2020 Macbook Air and find the display excellent. I have compared it to other monitors. It is excellent for my usage: generally using spreadsheets, presentations, outlook, word, etc. The M8 should benan improvement on the M7.
@@leonpjhb thank you I truly appreciate your response
@@trevorjones8475 please note I played around with the Mac scaling option and found the text best when I scaled it down just a tad on the mac external screen options page (settings, display, external monitor, settings)
Is the screen a glossy or matte panel?
Hey man, question for you since Samsung support is less than helpful.. I asked them if it was possible to put the stand vertical with the included stand and they said yes, could you confirm or deny this for me?:)
If they say "yes", then you really don't need to see it to believe it. With all the features Samsung gives to us, I'd doubt they'd lie about vertical usage, as it's an easy feature to implement. 😌👍
@@KingDeadMan not all support reps know everything about the products they sale especially new ones. I suggest that you try two or three different reps if in doubt
