I once cleared ransomware of a pc by mashing keys. The ransomware crashed and I had access to the desktop again. No files were encrypted so running mbam fixed it.

I did a very similar thing. I have experienced the average run of the mill malware that changed the keys you had to press in order to bring up task manager, so when I got infected and ctrl alt delete didn't work, I started mashing random keys and finally got the task manager and was able to kill all the processes before anything important got encrypted. I switched to Linux after that and will never go back.

Entropy of files hard to hide?
Most entropy calculators don't account for the order in which bytes are stored, so that would be an easy fix, just don't XOR the bytes, just permutate them with huge keys, also encryption will be faster that way. Scanning directories, also an easy fix, just scan the documents, desktop, pictures and maybe the downloads folders.
And detection based on certain libraries, just don't implement those libraries at all! You shouldn't even have to, as you have you write your own encryption algortihm, solely with permutation, and maybe add some value to them, so they *look* encrypted in something like notepad.
Don't freeze the desktop, just show your message in the program.
Put some text file on the desktop that remembers the user once, so that they know what they have to do when they find out all their files are 'corrupted', man do I look suspicious now.
