Dustin I like your style and attitude. You made it as simple as it can be. Even funny at times. Some Other installers do complicate matters but you went right to it and got it done. Thanks.
Two things: First, I love that even though you posted this video like 7 years ago, you’re still responding to the comments. So many YTers post and then don’t even answer the inevitable questions that arise. I mean, why post a video and then leave your peeps hanging?! Second, I love how you demonstrated the one-man lift and install onto the bracket. Just what I needed to give me the confidence to try this myself. Thanks!!!
Dustin, you are a true craftsman! I love the way you explained it all and especially when you advised to toss the template! Thank you for a great video!!
wow! You make it look so easy! I need to replace an existing microwave that is already mounted, but couldn't figure out for the life of me how it was mounted. This video really helps. Thank you!
Dustin, dude you rock! Exactly what I was looking for. I had to remove a range hood and add an outlet first in the above cabinet. I suppose I could have made a video of me doing that.
You’re awesome Shaka! Thanks for sharing my friend. I’m so glad you rocked it. Yes I do have some thing about that in the Ecourse. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I don't have help installing my microwave so I'm hoping I can hold it in place while pulling the cord through and installing bolts. I'm only 5'1" so I'll have to use a ladder. The challenge is measuring correctly w/o a template. With a bracket already on the wall, finding reference points to measure from is tricky.
Doing this by myself, as a female... removing old microwave that was a cracked, busted up Roper heavy piece of crap. Couldn't lift it down by myself; so I put old pillows I no longer use down on the floor after sliding the stove/oven out of the way, and let the old microwave just fall down onto the pillows. Waited to see what damage I'd do. Hey, it worked. No damage.
The hardest part for me is getting those two bolt holes to match under the counter. I see you just measured, yet do you need to take into account for the small gap between the sides of the microwave and the cabinets?
Great video! I'm about to remove a 35 year old over range microwave but couldn't find any screws holding it in on top. Checked all over the top cabinet. I shined a flashlight in the gaps around the top and sides and discovered whoever installed it just screwed some sheetrock screws through the side cabinets into the metal sides of the microwave. I'll have to use a hacksaw blade in the gaps to cut the screws. I guess that's the no template and no measuring required method.
You forgot to show or set the blower flow direction. Since you had to remove the panel blocks, the blower might be set to recirculate and not outside exhaust. For that reason you need to make this correction before installation, or take note of that.
gmax876 hi gmax. This one had an existing vent out of the back of the house. You can see it there under the cabinet. Typically they go straight to the exterior. Hope this helps.
Hi! yes it is, it just wont remove the steam and such from the house, it basically disperses it into the air. There are non vented hood ranges and microwaves. perfectly ok!
TIM hey Tim! An over the range micro is 30 inch usually under a 30 inch cabinet. If you have a 36 you can use 1x4 or some other finished cabinet wood and run it along your two cabinets to get the size you need. They don’t need to support anything, just fill the gap. I hope this helps!
Hey bud. Don’t sweat it. You can either hang a supported shelf above the stove or go ahead and install the cabinet. Just make sure you have clearance from stove top to the bottom of the microwave. 18 inches to be safe. You got this!
I'm guessing he can't read so threw the instructions out because of it and since these are recessed cabinets, the instruction would tell you that wood blocks are necessary for the space between the microwave and the bottom of the cabinet so you don't damage the top of the microwave.
Dr. Remulack why? Because he doesn’t behave in the stereotypical “professional,” way? What exactly did he do wrong? Maybe you had a problem with his laidback, easy going demeanor. But he basically did nothing wrong.
@@dr50 , yeah those templates are more trouble than they are worth. If they would put them on cardboard or even cardstock, they would be useful. I've done dozens of these installations and I switched to measuring and marking. It's just faster and more accurate. The tip about measuring with the bracket on it good advice. I would add that it's helpful to mount the wall bracket 1/16-1/8" lower than specs. Sometimes when you go to tip the microwave up into the cabinet it can bind on the lower back frame of the upper cabinet. Dropping the bracket down a fuzz it prevents this and it's not enough to notice.

Thank you TD. It doesn’t have to be complicated , matter of fact, it’s way easier if it’s easy. Thanks for commenting.

hi TES! if your micro isn't exactly 30, you would need to. hope this helps! thanks for commenting!

thank you dinox! enjoy your new microwave!
Thanks this helped me!
Awesome Chris thanks for sharing enjoy your new microwave
Dustin never turned the exhaust fan. The blower is only recirculating the air through a filter, and not removing heat/smoke
Thanks for watching

hey curtis! not sure that was an issue this time..in vented out and worked great! thanks for sharing!
Cool!
thank you larry!

Don't forget about using the template to ensure the holes in the top work for the new unit
Absolutely Andrew!thanks for sharing!
perfect, thanks
James Vance thank you James! Enjoy the new micro! Thanks for watching!
Where did you route the vent for the exhaust?
gmax876 hi gmax. This one had an existing vent out of the back of the house. You can see it there under the cabinet. Typically they go straight to the exterior. Hope this helps.
Did you flip the blower?
Thanks omg. why didnt the delivery guy tell me about the damn brackets being on the back.
thank you!
What he does not say is the finding the exact place on the cabinet to drill the holes is the challenge.
thanks so much for commenting!
how much for an installion. like that?your cool bro. .
Hey Moe, thanks man! a going rate for a swap out would run about 150.00. Hope it helped you! thanks for watching!
Hi, I don't have a vent to the outside or roof, so I bought one that says it has a vent in the front, is that sufficient?
Hi! yes it is, it just wont remove the steam and such from the house, it basically disperses it into the air. There are non vented hood ranges and microwaves. perfectly ok!
Thank you SO much!
what do you do if your space is bigger than your microwave, i have like 4 inches on each side of my microwave what do i do with that?
TIM hey Tim! An over the range micro is 30 inch usually under a 30 inch cabinet. If you have a 36 you can use 1x4 or some other finished cabinet wood and run it along your two cabinets to get the size you need. They don’t need to support anything, just fill the gap. I hope this helps!

The dude installs microwaves.
thank you TC!
Did it 10 minutes? LOL
yes sir! thanks for commenting TC!

Hey Meade! You actually don't need any blocks, thats why i threw them out! 😃 Thanks for commenting!
No offense; this guy shows up to work at my house, I’m sending him packing
LOL thanks John! But how is that not offensive? I hope you learned something and enjoy your new microwave!
I like his methods, actually.
Especially about the top template part and measuring instead.
Dr. Remulack why? Because he doesn’t behave in the stereotypical “professional,” way? What exactly did he do wrong? Maybe you had a problem with his laidback, easy going demeanor. But he basically did nothing wrong.
