    Just ran across this channel, and I'm not sure if it's this guy's tone of voice, the speed at which he speaks, his vocabulary or a little bit of each, but he seems to have a knack for teaching. Maybe his style is just the type I prefer, but I've ran across several "diamond aiming" videos, and this is the first one that actually kept my interest and actually understood what he was saying.

    • @jdio39
      @jdio39 Рік тому

      Hi, if you are honestly good at math, then here is my suggestion. When using running English always in this situation, just know that anytime you are kicking on the table, the cueball is actually making a parallelogram! So in theory, if you can conceptualize a parallelogram and then visualize the kick in reverse, for example, then you will never have a problem with these kicks at all going forward!

    Only about one minute into this and I have to mention that your first shot was fantastic. Depending on how far from the rail those two balls are from the rail, the possibility of scratching could be prohibitive, however. The slow-motion used was a great touch making it much easier to see what you are doing. Will have to watch it at least once more to get everything you showed here. Even so, without watching again I picked up enough to increase the quality of my game. Cheers

    Essentially, this is the 2+ method, or the Law of Parallels For Two Rail Kicks as illustrated by PoolDawg. I teach 3-cushion, as well as a game called Solid Eight (All solids, one through eight, played in rotation like 9-ball, that only has one rule - you cannot shoot a ball directly into a pocket; so, it has to be either a carom or combination or bank - and kicks are banks). I mastered the Corner Five diamond system many years ago; however, I also discovered that I could use either the Parallel System or the Vanishing Point System interchangeably, depending on the shot, to closely match a Corner Five return track. These two systems do not use math, but instead use visualization to 'see' the ball's path. I find these two systems are fairly accurate on a known table.

    Thank you. I understand the numbers on the short rail but can you break it down in more details how to count from object ball and cue ball

    • @FXBilliards
      @FXBilliards  4 роки тому

      The number you are using is the number of diamonds the cue ball is away from the Object ball, but you want to find a diamond that intersects the short rail number with the long rail number and the cue ball. I know its difficult at times but that is the best way I can word it. Balls are 3 diamonds apart or maybe 4 diamonds apart. Which number on the short and long rail when connected, would land directly over the cue ball. That is the spot you will shoot through.

  • @bbspaulb
    @bbspaulb 2 роки тому +1

    Wow so much great iinformation. Interesting how the choice of words affects understanding. My words would be when banking forget the rail, aim based on the diamonds or (dots as we call them) and shoot "through the rail" as if it wasn"t there or it"s an opened window. Saying shoot through the diamond confused me.

    It just seems to me the best way would be to use values of 10 instead of single digits. It is so much easier to "see" the fractional divisions between diamonds if you are looking for say 12 instead of 1.2. They are actually the same thing but just easier to grasp. You can divide each distance between diamonds into 10 integers. The short rail diamonds would be 30-50-70 and the long rail numbers would be 10-20-30-etc.

    • @FXBilliards
      @FXBilliards  4 роки тому

      Wow, that is the most interesting question. I have never been asked that and I am not sure I would get it correct for you. But let's start with why size is your table. Maybe someone else might have a better idea than me. Even tables of the same size might differ depending on the size of the wood frame and depth of the rails. I would hate to give you bad measurements. Might be something you can google.

    quick question. Each time I watch a diamond system video the cueball is always a few inches off the rail. Lets say that the cueball is about a diamond and a half out from the rail. Does that effect the calculations ?

    • @FXBilliards

      Ken Armstrong As long as you can align your cue and the CB with a diamond on the long rail and a diamond corresponding on the short rail -everything is the same.

  • @TheCaramrod24
