I am so grateful that you went straight to the very clear directions, and didn’t make us waste time while you went on about things that don’t apply to the topic! What a true service. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this recipe! On Amazon the Australian floetrol was $32 plus $50 shipping! I was ready to give up until I saw your video. Thank you thank you thank you!
This is a great video! I have a strange question lol. Would using this pre stain conditioner be similar to using silicone oil in the long run? In other words, would I have to scrub my painting if I use this min wax recipe to remove any residue? Or is it that similar to Aussie floetrol that you don’t have to wash your painting with soap before applying resin? I’m just wanting to do this right. Thank you!
Absolutely different. By adding the conditioner to the floetrol it mixes perfectly and does not leave a residue like silicone. Two completely different chemicals. Do not use silicone…
Nice. So, you added wood “container” to your U.S. Floetrol? Personally, I would have added “conditioner” and I would have proof read the text on my thumbnail before I posted my video. 🤣😂🤣😂
2 oz wood conditioner 8 oz of paint 16 oz of floetrol. TOTAL IN THE JUG 24oz of the mixture which was white paint and floetrol and wood conditioner (minwax pre stain)
I just used a pipette. I’m guessing about 2 oz wood conditioner to 8 oz of paint and 16 oz of floetrol. Because my total in this jug I’m measuring into I put up 2 fingers then 4. So my total was 24oz of the mixture which was white paint and floetrol and wood conditioner (minwax pre stain)
Ya, know….not sure…..didn’t check…just know it worked. When I looked at ingredients of US Floetrol vs Australia…the only difference is the wood conditioner…..so that’s why I added it to US Floetrol. Works perfectly
I use Floetrol as a medium along with water….1 part paint…2 parts Floetrol….1 part water. I add a dropper (pipette) full of wood conditioner to the floetrol before adding to cup with paint.
@@tonyfratt7403 a pipette holds about an ounce and a half. This is the measurement for achieving the same ingredients as the Australian Floetrol. Then you would the your final product ( American Floetrol plus wood conditioner) to your paint at the ratio you like. I recommend 1 part paint to two parts finished Floetrol plus a splash of water.
Ok. I just looked at mine. It says Minwax, pre-stain wood conditioner. There are health hazard on the label so I’m assuming I’m wrong and it is oil based. I believe it’s the oils that helps with the bloom !!!
Just a drop….I use maybe a teaspoon in 2oz of floetrol… I have done it in AZ with no problems…but use less….the less the better…and put in and don’t shake it.
I am very concerned because the Minwax Pre-Stain is very toxic. It has strong warnings: prolonged exposure can cause permanent brain damage and nervous system damage. Vapor is harmful. Carries Ca. Prop 65 warning as cancer causing as well as birth defects. And the list goes on. Anyone wanting to give this a try should be aware of the dangers with this product. At least wear a good respirator, gloves and long sleeves so non of this stuff gets on your skin. Stay safe and happy painting!
You are correct, however just about every thing in our households these days carry same warning. I recommend anyone mixing any type of paint, chemical or whatever wear a mask. The paint you are putting the wood conditioner in is probably toxic as well.

@@danielburris3932 I wish I was as perfect as you! Lol. Sorry. Things happen.
2 oz wood conditioner
8 oz of paint
16 oz of floetrol.
TOTAL IN THE JUG
24oz of the mixture which was
white paint and floetrol and wood conditioner (minwax pre stain)
10 plus 16 = 26 not 24
I'm sorry is that like 1/2 a tsp or?
Thank you!
Your welcome! It works so well!
This is so great!! Can you share your approximate floetrol:stain ratio?
Yes…it’s approximately 5 drops of to 2 ounces of floetrol
I use minwax wood conditioner. I have a video on me doing it
Interesting!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Hi, how much minwax do you put in per oz.? thank you so much for your info!

I appreciate you so much... thank you a million times over. your the very best.
I also read that Australian floetrol is for acrylic paint and stain conditioner and US floetrol is for latex paint.
That could very well be true. However the bloom recipe calls for both
@@kymcrowart7876 should the wood conditioner be oil based or water based.?
@@heatherschroeder2962 I just looked at mine…I believe it’s oil based because of the hazards on the label.
@@heatherschroeder2962I’ve been wondering the same thing, some use oil based others water. I’d love to know what differences they result in.
Is this Minwax wood conditioner oil or water based?

Ok I looked. It’s oil
Awesome, bought the right one!
nice, now do you use this as a medium, or just cell activator?
I use Floetrol as a medium along with water….1 part paint…2 parts Floetrol….1 part water. I add a dropper (pipette) full of wood conditioner to the floetrol before adding to cup with paint.
@@kymcrowart7876 thx, im going to try that today, i think
@@jimdimitrios1 awesome let me know how it goes
So, American Floetrol @ 90%, How much does a pipette hold? Don't add any paint?

I can't tell what exact kind of min wax you use? What one is it because when I went to buy it there were a few choices. Which one did you use?
Only one wood conditioner that I know of…
If you slow the video, you should see the can…….it’s just wood conditioner
What kind of conditioner? Is it the one with oil?
It’s just minwax wood conditioner. In the paint and stain isle at any home improvement store.

how long does this last in jar?
It lasts with your floetrol for months!
thank u so so much

Tried that recipe several times and they’re was no cells.
Sorry to hear that. Are you sure you are mixing everything well? Maybe a little more wood conditioner…..
