Hi Thomas! I love that they were able to do this for you. I’m actually the woman you saw the video of in Texas with the adapted model x. I have my remote for the lift actually hanging off my hand controls so it’s easier to reach after I transfer to the platform! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I’m so excited for you!! I’m so happy to see more people doing this
THANK YOU SARAH for all of your help to make this happen! You were my inspiration to even start down this road. Thank you for being the first domino that hopefully leads to more breakthroughs in driving accessibility!
Hi SarahI am a high-level incomplete who is fascinated by how you removed the middle seat to accommodate your lift!. It would be extremely helpful knowing the process before I start my adaption.
@@scottmihalchan9527 hi Scott! Sorry I’m just now seeing this. The guys out at United access in Arlington Tx did the adaption for me. They removed two seats out of the second row to build the lift
Hi Thomas. Thanks for the video and inspiration. I am a T4 para, and I just purchased a 2018 Model X 7 seater, hoping to do a similar modification. I'm curious if, by removing the middle row seats, you get any SRS messages on the computer, and if you are still able to get updates from Tesla. Perhaps the fine folks at Driver Rehab Center were able to resolve those potential issues? Thanks again, Carlos.
Hé Tonny, you are not wrong, lowered floor van conversion has it’s perks. Transfer from inside (if using transfer seat base) or drive directly from wheelchair have advantages, that being said this Tesla conversion is very, very (did i mention very?) nice. My wife has an electric car and not having to find a gas station with service is a big plus. Thomas did a great video.
Notice he didn’t give the cost of everything? Want to bet is was at least $45K? I’m driving a 2005 Chrysler minivan highly modified with 56,000 miles on it I bought used for $4,000. I had to make changes that added another approx. $2,000 but it’ll go until I die AND it’s way way quicker to get in and out if in my ELECTRIC wheelchair that the model X would not, could not carry.
While I appreciate that you like your transportation choice, my 2005 Chrysler lowered floor minivan with ramp would be half to the store. I bought it used for $4,000 and probably got another $2,000 to have it modified for me to drive in my ELECTRIC wheelchair. Hopefully Tesla comes out with a Ford Transit sized VAN with the least options possible to keep the cost down. (I note that you didn’t give the price you paid for car with all the options).

Hi Scott, I love the progress being made to make things much more accessible. Do you know if any financial aid to help purchasing an automobile? Having trouble finding anything to suit my needs. Had to sell my last vehicle due to having to breakdown my chair so much. This would be perfect.
This is cool and all but with one tap on my remote my van door will open and deploy a ramp. I can even do it from in my home while it rains. I get it, it's not as cool but in a few years they'll also be self-driving. People who have electric chairs can drive from them if you like. It's way, way better for every day driving where you might be getting in and out several times in a day.
Does anyone know if the Tesla Model X (6 seater) trunk can fit this thing? I'm thinking of buying a Tesla Model X (6 seater): ua-cam.com/video/67WDGlds_pM/v-deo.html

Amazing video! Would love to know where you got your Tesla converted!!
So happy for you!!!
Dope. Which hand controls are you using? Do you have video of that set up?
Way to go, Thomas!
Hi Thomas excellent video. How can I get in touch with you?
Did you get the permanent disabled plate? If so, how did you get it? I don't think Tesla has the state dealer number...
