BMW E46 Sedan | Bavsound Stage One Speaker Kit | Installation - Comparison W/ Harmon Kardon - Review

- In this video, I install into my E46 330i sedan, a brand new set of Bavsound Stage One that I received from Bavsound. This video includes unboxing, showing in detail each speaker, from the tweeter, to midranges & bass speakers, installation of the rear deck, rear door and front door speakers, and a detailed sound comparison between my factory Harmon Kardon system vs. Bavsound's stage one kit. My thoughts and opinions on the speakers are spoken for at the end of the video.

MASSIVE difference with the Bombs Away sample. You could actually hear the underlying tones where with the HK speakers it was just rattle due to the heavy bass. Think this sealed the deal for me. Great vid man!

I have the same speakers in my e46 coupe. Had the HiFi system before the switch. Head unit is a Xtrons. The sound was terrible at first. No matter how much I played with the equalizer settings. Thought it might be the head unit, or the factory amp which was still connected. I ended up installing an amp which was pnp. Now I have crisp sound with nice bass.

Thank you! To figure out which Bavsound speakers you should buy for your car, first determine if your car has Harmon Kardon or Hi-Fi speakers. HK cars have HK badged tweeter covers on the front door, & rear speaker covers. They also have a sound amplifier button on the button panel, next to the DSC button. If your car doesn’t have any of that, you have the standard Hi-Fi system. To double check, type in your vin number in a bmw vin decoder online, and it’ll tell you which package came on your car.

My E46 has the base HiFi system. I can't believe BMW would install such a horrible sounding system in a car, quite literally sounds like you've shoved cotton in your ears. The base AM/FM system in my 2014 F350 work truck (poverty spec, only 2 speakers) sounds better than my E46 - which is saying a ton because that system blows chunks too. Anyway, big difference in the clarity with the upgraded speakers. Thanks for the sound clips, will be ordering the Stage One upgrade for my E46 here shortly.
I’m tryna get the stage one too but I plan on retrofitting the OEM nav unit soon. Does the nav work with their non HK stage one or the stage one meant for HK? Mine doesn’t have HK btw but I want the nav unit
The speakers will still work with a factory nav. Bavsound sells speakers for cars without factory HK, which I’ve linked in the description of this video. So, you’ll need to get those instead of the ones that I have, which were made for cars with HK.
May I buy the hk speakers from you?
My rear deck speakers came switched aftermarket when I got my e46 but they suck and they don’t have the adapter that connects to those speakers making them plug and play so what should I do
Since I’m not sure the brand of speakers you have in your car, I personally can’t help you with your issues. The best suggestion I could give you is to either find out the adapter you may need, or go to an audio professional and go from there. Or, pull all of the aftermarket stuff out and revert back to stock wires & then upgrade to Bavsound.
