I visited Elmina Castle in Ghana almost 11 years ago and I'll never forget the experience. I'm British and have Jamaican heritage. I felt sad, angry, broken but also felt so empowered. My ancestors were incredible. I have their strength in my blood. They went through that and then slavery and survived... I can do anything! ♥️
I went to that slave castle at 4 years old with my mom. Even then it was super powerful and it breaks my heart to know the suffering that took place there. Thank you Denis and Jackie for including that part in this video it's so incredibly important. Also the outfit Denis' family made you was beautiful Jackie
You all prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
That Kente outfit with the fendi boots was everything & more sis. So wonderful people seeing how amazing Africa is over Christmas for us in the diaspora 💕
When u took the tour it was so so sad and it really touched me. I can’t imagine....Definitely a trip every African American person should experience. Thank you for sharing!
when she was talking about Naomi Campbell I swear Jackie's make up looked fresh...but that was after hours of partying??? Wow! This amateur is super impressed :O
I was working in an orphanage as a volunteer in northern Ghana in 2009. and we also visited Elmina. It was a very vivid and very sad experience! I even cried... we should never forget what our ancestors went through... 💔♥️ much love from Germany 🇩🇪 to you!
Hello! Hope you enjoyed your stay in my mother land. Which part of Germany are you? I am also in Germany for studies and wish to link up if only it's possible.
I love to watch you guys just for the smiles and the laughter. There is so much YT negativity, it's refreshing to see such joy in living life to the fullest.
My dad is from Ghana and my mom is Cuban and African American and it has been my dream to go to Ghana. I was supposed to go this year but was not able to and I am so sad
Thank you for sharing Ghana's history with us. It's so important to know part of our history. I really appreciate Denis and Jackie sharing their trips and these African vlogs have been one of the best.
Jackie doing the creep on that wedding... 😂 Every West African when a song comes on, "Ayyy Ayyy Ayyyy Ayyy." we ain't worrying about no damn lyrics y'all. Just ayyyyyyyy...
Waaaaiiiitttt....Auntie Jackie & Uncle Dennis have a channel...sheesh...school has taken over my life...(as it should) but why didn’t I know this? Where have I been...?
😂 It’s true, Ghanaians have no sense of urgency. You’ll be waiting on your food for 2 hours and the waitress will calmly say ‘don’t worry it will come’ looooool. As a Ghanaian I’m quite chill but the Ghanaians in Ghana are another level!! Still love our people tho 💕
Shouldn't some tell them that foreigners (amricans), don't go to eat until they are hungry. So maybe they should serve an appetizer until the food comes. Come on 2 hours is just totally to long.
I was literally emotional watching the slave scene, I mean I could actually feel the evil that was there many years ago😭😭I will NEVER FORGET WHAT WE BARRED
Ahhh love this episode! My husband is Ghanaian and I visit my in-laws in Ghana as much as I can. I love it so much.. Ghana Timing is unique 🤗😁hehe love from a London subbie x
Thanks for recording these trips to Africa. We don't get to see what it's really like over there any other way and it makes it more realistic for us all to visit one day.
Still watching. Jackie your post-party makeup looks fresh as hell. Thank you for including the slave castle part, I felt the emotion. Denis you look great in pink! That is all lol.
You must read Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. It's about two sisters. One is married to a white man and lives in the castle, and the other is sold into slavery from the castle.
400 years are up pools it’s time to connect with the ancestors and come into power. I heard the experience is so overwhelming and powerful. Thanks for sharing beautiful couple. Happy New Year. 🎆🎈🎊.
Denis is about to do one of his lectures on working smart. Ha ha, I wanted some Carribean food but they told me it's too cold for deliveries. LOL! I'm in NYC. 😫😆😆😆
I love that you & Uncle Denis always bring us along with you on trips like this. People in the States have been sold this false image of what Africa is but you've been one of the influencers who show the real tea & we LOVE to see it! Thank you for always making us feel so included! ❤
I remember visiting Elmina slave castle in 9th grade. As an African American, seeing that place and hearing the stories of what our people endured...it’s life changing. Especially considering how far we’ve come. I love all my diasporic peeps
We are fucking royalty guys. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. They tried to break us. Like, they fucking tried. But we’re still here. Fucking royalty.
I am so glad you two were able to get to the castles, thank you for documenting your experience. I am hoping one day I will be able to take such a trip. It was also nice to see the RR brand! I have used this product as well and I love the liquid shea butter lotion!
OMG...I LOVED this video!!!! That outfit Denis's mom and auntie designed and made was soooo cute!!! I low key teared up when you guys visited the Cape Coast Castle...so many emotions just started pulsating through me.
Seems like people have been complaining about waiters/waitresses attitude a lot when it comes to food ordering. It's about time restaurant managers give their workers good education . Is it just laziness? Don't just assume and replace a requested meal of a customer to one of your choice. What if that person is allergic to what was substituted? Well aside this, Ghana is a lovely country. So peaceful. Proudly Ghanaian 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
this video has me excited for ghana this year.I'm excited for afrochella. I have not been in 12 years. Jackie how they hell did your makeup look so damn fresh in 6 in the morning. Spill this tea, sis
lorinda opoku Africa isn't all about hunger and poverty, BUT it's crucial that we publicize the fact that people are living in poverty and going hungry due to the greed of politicians.
Maybe if Dennis had specified that it was “potato” chips he wanted and not just “chips” he would have gotten exactly what he wanted. In Ghana chips is yam chips/ fried yam unlike the US or other western countries because we hardly eat potatoes. How did Dennis expect the waiter to know it was potato chips he wanted? ....Every country has its own culture and we must learn how to communicate in a way that relates with the people and environment we are travelling to
